Onyx was way more powerful. She could break Marcus, bend him, twist him, control him, do whatever she seem fit to Marcus but she didn't. Instead, she became the submissive, supportive and meek wife to her husband. Just then, Beryl noticed a glint or perhaps a spark of red in Chrysolite's eyes, not blue but red. Beryl bit her lower lip in fear as she reached for Sardius protectively. Then she sighed when she saw Chrysolite rolling over with Sardius. "She might be a devil goddess." Beryl murmured. "Who?" Onyx stepped into the room. Startled, Beryl swirled her head to the door. There stood Onyx. "Who might be a devil goddess?" Onyx repeated the question. Beryl laughed, "are you kidding me? Did I say something?" "I thought I heard something." Onyx said. "Oh, pardon me. What did you hear?" Beryl said. "Devil goddess, something like that. I'm sure I heard it." Onyx said. "Devil goddess!" Beryl exclaimed, "I didn't say something like that!" "I know you're lying to me, Beryl." Onyx said. "Onyx, stop being dramatic," Beryl pushed Onyx out of the way towards the sitting room, "common now, I'm starving." And with that, Onyx forgot about what was being said about her daughter. "Hello ladies!" It was Corral Marble. "Oh mother, you're back?" Onyx looked surprise. "Where's the baby? " "In the cot." "And no one is watching over them?" She looked alarmed. "Beryl's with them." "Oh, I guessed she brought Sardius with her?" Footsteps approached, then, it stopped. "Holly Corral Marble!!" Beryl exclaimed in excitement. "Goodness, Beryl. What's wrong with you? Why are you being dramatic this days?" Asked Onyx. Beryl quickly went on her knees. Mother and daughter stared at her like she was out of her mind. "I want to pay homage to the Queen of the sea." Beryl Rose her hands in the air. "Oh Beryl, what's this for? Please stand up." Onyx was suddenly ashamed of her friend. "Respect, Onyx, respect." She batted her eyes at Onyx. Onyx briefly shut her eyes in an attempt to let this akward scene pass by her. "Are you done? We aren't any gods." "But you're called the child of the goddess, aren't you?" "Beryl, what's gotten into you? You left the kids all by themselves?" Onyx exploded. "They are quite old to take care of themselves. Come to think of it, they're doing fine with each other." Beryl informed them. Corral Marble said not a word but only smiled at Beryl. "I presumed this is why Daniel married you. He loves the opposite of himself in you." Beryl quickly had to stand up awkwardly after hearing that. "I like you Beryl, feel free to be free. And I'm in the human form to be acknowledged as one." Corral Marble told Beryl. "But you have powers, Holly Corral Marble." "I know I do. Let me go and check on the babies." Corral Marble said trying to avoid making more conversations with Beryl. When she left, Onyx stared at her friend, amused. "What?" Beryl asked. "What was that about? What are you up to Beryl?" "I'm just meeting your mum. Can't I get to know her?" Beryl scoffed. "By being this dramatic? This is so unlike you. You know that this is totally way beyond." Onyx said. "Onyx, stop being paranoid, will you? Your mum said I should be free and that what I am doing, being free." Beryl said. Onyx shrugged. "But that's way beyond. And you know that." "So, I'm in the wrong now? Is that what you're trying to say? And should there be a need for me to apologise as well?" "You don't talk like that, Beryl." Onyx said. "It's only a question. Oh, I forgot, you're the Queen's daughter." "Beryl?" She called out warningly. "This has gone way too far." "What's wrong with it? Your mother obviously wasn't annoyed by it," Beryl ranted on, "so, why should you be offended?" "Can you possibly hear yourself? You talk like a barbarian." Onyx had to point that out. Beryl was making her angry. Beryl laughed and looked away. "Look who's calling who a barbarian?" "Excuse me, what did you say?" Onyx swirled her friend to face her so she could get her attention. Beryl ignored her. "Answer me when I'm talking to you!" Onyx yelled at her. At this moment, Corral Marble could hear them arguing from the babies room. They were shouting at the top of their voices. What had warranted such an argument? "At least I'm being sincere not like you who's being fake! If something is holding you up, pour it out!" Beryl yelled angrily. "Seriously?" Onyx was hellishly puzzled. A long stretch of silence followed. Then Onyx laughed. "So I'm the barbarian and the fool? I'll like you to leave, please?" Beryl stared at her in surprise. "Really Onyx? Will you be like this?" "No, no, no Beryl. You've pushed me too far. Please leave." Onyx didn't want to hear no more of her embittered words. "Oh, yeah. That's what I get when I'm being sincere. Thanks for the lunch anyway. I'm leaving," she started for the door then stopped when she remembered her baby. "Onyx, watch this!" She called out. Onyx turned to look at her. Beryl raised both of her hands high in the air and cried out. "All hail the child of the goddess! Thanks for lunch anyway." After she had left with Sardius, Onyx was fuming. The whole thing done don't make sense yet they had fought over nothing. Beryl had become such a trouble maker. One minute, she was sweet, the next minute, she was nasty. Onyx tried to calm her nerves then she caught her mother staring intently at her. "What's wrong with you, Onyx?" Corral Marble asked holding Chrysolite close to her bossom. Her white curls cascaded down her shoulder as Chrysolite tried to play with a curl. "She pushed me, obviously!" Onyx exclaimed. "You were usually the type to overlook this. What's wrong with you both?" "I don't know, mother." Onyx was irritated. "Oh well, I'm sure you do." Coral Marble said. "Mother, she made me furious and she didn't even apologize for it." Onyx explained. "There you go! Feeling entitled to an apology!" Her mother laughed which made Onyx even angrier. "I wasn't angered by it. Why should you be?" "I don't want to talk about it, mother. I'm way too furious right now." Onyx told her mum. "I can see that." Her mother scoffed. "Come to mummy, Chrysolite." Onyx pulle her child from her mother's grasp. "Don't be like this Onyx. This time, you'll have to apologise to Beryl." Coral Marble suggested. "Me?" Onyx chuckled. "Well, not me!'' "What do you say to that Onyx? I'll ring up Danny and set the family party." Marcus was on vacation and he wanted some little get together with Daniel's family. He heard Daniel probably was on vacation too. It was summer afterall. "What party? There will be no party, Marcus." She said to him. Marcus smiled. He heard about Beryl and Onyx little fight. He knew the other reason why he was doing this. "Is something wrong about it?" He asked. "No, nothing is wrong about it," she answered him then she asked, "will Beryl come?" "Why won't she? She's your best friend. She might bake one of those lovely cakes you like." Marcus said. "That's the problem Marc. I don't think it's the right thing. I don't want a party." "Then we'll have a dinner. A get together dinner. That should be better," he smiled at her. She was nestled in his arms while they talked. "I don't want any of that!" She yelled, pushing herself out of his arms. Marcus stared at her in surprise. This shouldn't provoke such a wild reaction from her was something new. Something was wrong and she was keeping it all to herself. "Why Onyx?" He had to ask. "I want only a peaceful summer with you and our family, that's all." Onyx planted a peck on his check. "What's with inviting the Daniel's family over, Onyx?" Marcus was curious. "Nothing. Atleast we should have our alone time. It's about time." She said. "But you love to have them around." Marcus put in. "Well, things change Marcus, things changed." Onyx said.
