Chapter 19 WHAT'S HAPPENING?

Michael became a friend to Robin the senior. When he played football on the field with his team against their opponents, Robin felt quite pleased.
"He looks fifteen." Robin had to say to Jade, his best friend.
"I agree. He plays well alongside that tanned skinned boy." Jade pointed.
"Who's he?" Robin asked.
"I hear they are best friends. I don't think I know his name."
"Ask around. I would like to know."
"Do I look like your slave boy?" Jade looked puzzled.
"Should I add the word please? You should know better Jade. If they are well equipped, they could be the next superstars of our school."
"Alright, I'll do."
******
With that Michael and Sardius had a different kind of special training by Robin and his boys.
"He's not wicked as they said he was," Jasmine said to Ashley and Chrysolite as they watched from the school mini stadium.
"Good." Ashley stood up the started walking away.
"Where are you going?" Jasmine asked.
"I'm going to the cafeteria, I want to get some snacks."
"I'll come with you," Jasmine said to her.
"Won't you come with us?" Ashley asked Chrysolite after Jasmine had joined her.
"No, I'll stay here and wait for you guys," Chrysolite said.
Chrysolite watched both Jasmine and Ashley walking away when they were out of sight. She started for the swimming hall. She had been thinking about the last incident. Her head had swelled and ached and she intently knew that her mind wouldn't be at rest until she went back to the pool. Sardius who was on the field stopped Michael to look at Chrysolite who was with no one.
"Where's the goddess going?" Michael mumbled, and one of his feet was placed on the football.
"I don't know. Let's play on." Sardius answered him.
*******
Chrysolite stood before the blue pool. The hall was quiet, with no sight of anyone in the swimming hall. She was dressed in her swimming suit, she let down her blonde hair as she briefly shut her eyes. She wanted to feel what she felt that day she fell into the pool. She opened her eyes and then took her pose as she dived into the pool.
*******
Ashley was eating up her hamburger alongside Jasmine. Where Chrysolite had stood, Mary-Jane stood there. She was smiling as she watched the match on the field.
"What's she doing here?" Ashley asked Jasmine.
"She? I don't know." Jasmine shrugged.
"Now where is Chrysolite?" Ashley scanned the seats.
Mary-Jane turned when she heard the voice, she recognized the voice. "You're looking for Chrysolite?" She asked.
"I didn't ask you. What are you doing here after all?" Ashley asked disdainfully.
"I'm sorry to say but I came to watch your brother." She smiled brightly, her beautiful dentition in full display.
Jasmine suddenly grew furious. "What for? After what you have done." Jasmine said.
"Well, he helped me. That's all."
"Forget it. He only helped you because you needed it. If not, he wouldn't even look your way." Ashley visibly fumed.
Mary-Jane didn't say anything, she just returned her gaze to the match, smiling again which provoked both friends.
"She likes your brother, doesn't she?" Jasmine whispered.
"She wouldn't dare. I'll skin her alive." Ashley whispered back, demonstrating. After a while, she had to ask Mary Jane. "Did you perhaps see Chrysolite?"
"I saw her leaving earlier on," Mary-Jane answered.
"Well, I believe she will be back. Let's only wait awhile." Jasmine paved the way for them to sit.
*******
Nothing happened.
She closed her eyes as she flapped both hands sideways. Yet, nothing happened. She knew she couldn't swim. She began to gulp some water through her mouth, her nose, her ears.... her hands were growing weak. She was reminded again that she couldn't swim. She was drowning, was someone out there to save her? There was no one to save her now. She couldn't breathe, it was painful to even try. It felt like water rushing into her insides suffocating her of all the air in her airways.
******
Sardius and Michael later picked up their school bags after training in the mini stadium. It was time to go home. He walked together with Michael to where the other of their friends waited for them.
"Where's a goddess?" Sardius asked. They've already nicknamed her "goddess" cause of her astounding beauty.
"Goddess? Who's a goddess?" Jasmine asked even though she partially knew who that was.
"Chrysolite of course. She's the goddess." Michael put in, grinning pleasantly.
"I don't know where she went," Ashley answered shrugging.
"I thought I saw her leaving the stadium.....," Sardius thought to think again. Something was wrong, he could feel it. He gave a glance around before saying. "Something is wrong. Let's look for her."
"Oh. She's not a baby Sardius. She could probably be anywhere. She's wrong not to have told anybody." Jasmine whined.
Sardius ignored her, he knew something wasn't right. He told the others where to go to look for her while he went to the swimming hall.
"Where will you go to look for her?" Jasmine asked.
"Just look for her while I do the same." He told her.
*******
Sardius recalled the incident in which Chrysolite nearly drowned, he knew that he must check the swimming hall. "She wouldn't be there, would she?" He tried to assure himself as he walked into the swimming hall.
The hall was quiet, it strangely illuminated the color red, and he wondered where the light was coming from. He moved closer to the pool then he saw what was shining. He gasped trying to understand what was happening.
"What's making the light?" He mumbled.
Something was in the pool, an object, he could see it. He knew how to swim but he was never interested in being a swimming athlete even though Chrysolite's dad had been one during his high school days. Chrysolite also never knew that Sardius could swim, she had always thought him to be a dumb, stupid boy. Sardius began to unbutton his shirt. Taking it off, he threw it aside, took a pose, and dived into the pool.
*******
Michael caught up with Ashley and Jasmine almost out of breath. His school bag was draped over one of his shoulders. His black hair was already ruffled by his hand.
"Have you seen her?" Ashley asked, she was visibly tired. The school was drying up, everyone was going home already. Where could Chrysolite be? Or would she have gone home? No, she wouldn't do that. Not to her very own friends.
"No," Michael answered. "Where do you think she might be?"
No one could think of a possible answer, they were all quiet until Jasmine suddenly clapped both of her hands. "Let's check out the swimming pool. She might be there."
"Swimming pool? What will make her be by the swimming pool?" Ashley was amused.
*******
It was Chrysolite!
She was lying at the bottom, on her back in the water. Her hair shone fiercely red! Sardius thought he was seeing double. What in the world is wrong with Chrysolite? Was his eyes deceiving him? He pulled Chrysolite to himself and her eyes instantly popped open shining red! His heart almost burst out from his rib cage. What was he seeing?
Chrysolite?
Who was she?
What happened to her?
What was she made of?
He asked questions he knew he couldn't get the reply to. Her eyes slowly shut, he brought her out of the water and all the color illuminating the room died out. Her red hair changed to its exact color. But Chrysolite was still unconscious. He could hear footsteps racing towards him, he knew it was the rest of his friends. Ashley was the first to Sardius out from Chrysolite's grasp when she held her friend's hands.
"My God! Chrysolite. What happened to her her?" Michael asked tears stinging her eyes.
