PIERCE
As I went to school, I happened to feel the familiar feeling I felt the last time Lara and I broke up. I became cold to anybody, but I am still trying to be okay, but it's obvious that I am not in my world right now.
"Hey, Pierce," I turned around and saw that it was my ex-girlfriend, Lara and I can see that she is smirking.
Well, I am indeed surprised. This is the first time that she talked to and approached me since we broke up.
I looked at her, "Hey."
She smirked, "Hmm, that's new. I just seem to notice but where is Sapphire? She's your girlfriend, right?"
When I heard her name, I looked at her, "I don't know where she is, and don't ever ask me that again, are we clear?" I yelled and left her there hanging.
I went to our classroom and as I sat down at the table, I immediately put my head down and I didn't care what was going on in class today.
"Harret?" I heard someone calls my name, but I don't care and I don't feel like talking to someone right now. I don't know why either.
"He is here, just mentally absent," I heard someone say and Brad suddenly elbowed me so I flinched, "What was that?" I asked.
"Are you okay? What happened to you and you're acting like this? Did something happen between you and —"
"King?" and the teacher called Sapphire.
I just realized that Fire is not here yet. I didn't notice that she wasn't here but why do I care?
Kidding aside, I care for her even though it's painful. The instructor suddenly looks at me, "Pierce, why isn't Sapphire here yet?" she asked, but I just shrugged.
"Ohh, did you two break up already? You're a weakling, man," and Cliff suddenly spoke and chuckled to himself.
"That's none of your business," I heard a very familiar voice and that's when I knew it was Sapphire who spoke.
She turned her gaze to the teacher, "I'm sorry, I am late. I had a hard time finding a ride."
"That's okay, the class hasn't started yet, as long as next time, don't be late," she said, and Fire then nodded and went to her seat.
SAPPHIRE
I was listening to our Teacher's discussion when Belle called out to me, "Hey, are you and Pierce okay? There seems to be something going on, what happened?" she whispered while pretending to listen to the teacher.
"We both took a break and cool off a little," I whispered back, "we had a little misunderstanding. Well, it's a very long story. Let us just talk about this later."
Her eyes grew big because of the surprise. Who wouldn't be surprised by that? I mean, it happened so fast and too suddenly.
It seems like just yesterday, we were both okay, then now, I don't know what to say. Just because of my secret, it destroys both of us.
A few hours passed and we were in the last subject until suddenly, the bell rang which indicates that our class just ended and it was lunch break.
I hurried to leave and go home. I was in a rush when suddenly, my wallet and pens fell from my bag.
I was about to pick them up when someone suddenly took all of them and gave them to me. It was Pierce and I smiled, "Thanks," I said to him as he looked into my eyes.
He just looked and he got up and left our classroom. I sighed and wondered, when will we be able to settle down?
BRAD
"What happened to the two of them? And where is Sapphire?" I asked Belle.
We were both in the school canteen and had lunch together.
"She went home as she said earlier that her brother, Baby Cooper, got sick. About them, I don't know yet, but she said they had a problem and they took a break and cool off."
My eyes widened when she said, "Huh? You're just fooling me, huh? They were okay since yesterday."
"That's what I'm wondering about, but that's what she said."
I can't believe it, but it's just cool off, isn't it? Maybe there's still a chance, "It's just a cool-off, maybe they'll get back together."
"I hope so that they'll settle down. Anyway, I am going outside."
I looked at her, "Where are you going this time? Are you going to leave me here?"
"It'll take you some time to finish eating. I'll just go outside to buy ice cream at the store."
When I heard the word ice cream, I remembered what Sapphire said to me the other day, "Wow, ice cream. Wait, I'm done eating! Anyway, I also want to eat ice cream because I'm in the mood to eat. I'll treat your ice cream too."
She then smiled, "Yey! Let's go and I will experience a treat! Thanks, Brad!"
SAPPHIRE
"Sapphire, darling! Come down! The Harret family are here," I heard mom call out while I was still getting ready. I am not ready but I had no choice.
I know that they have arrived in just a couple of minutes, but I'm not yet ready to face Pierce.
After he had helped me with my things, he seemed to be ignoring me. But, I did go home early because of Cooper and he did have a slight fever, but he is feeling better now.
I even noticed that Lara seemed happy knowing that Pierce and I are not on good terms. But I know and I hope, both of us will get along well.
"I'm not giving up on you that easily, Pierce," I said to myself and left the room with my four-month-old son.
When I came down, Dad immediately looked up at me and smiled, "Sapphire is already here. Come on, darling. We've been waiting for you."
I went on to greet Pierce's parents, "You're so gorgeous, Sa Sapphire!" Mrs. Harret praised me. She turned to Pierce who had been staring at me, "Isn't it, Pierce?"
I assume that Pierce's mother doesn't know about the two of us yet. I was supposed to have dinner with them yesterday, but I just told her that I have something to do and have been busy with executive pieces of training.
I looked at Pierce and at the same time, he's eyes met mine, "Y-yeah," he responded and acted like he doesn't care about me.
I admit that I was a little disappointed in it, but I still managed to be happy and smiled back at his parents.
"Thank you. I would have liked to hug you and talk, but Cooper is sick and you might be infected by his illness."
They all understood and dad suddenly approached me, "So, is Cooper alright? How is he feeling?"
I shook my head. When I touched his stomach, he was crying again. It was still a little weak until his cries got louder.
I first moved away from them and asked my baby to settle down, "Shhh, calm down. Mommy's here," I was waving at him but he still didn't settle down.
"Can I try?" a voice spoke behind me so I turned to him. I just nodded to him and gave Cooper to him.
"Aww. How is my Baby buddy? Well, I just heard that you are sick," Pierce said with his jolly tune to Cooper.
He caressed and played with him until he just stopped crying and started to giggle, "That's how boys should be. We should not cry, okay? Be a good boy to your mom."
I can't stop smiling at what I see now. Seeing Pierce with my son is just so adorable and heartwarming.
He is so good with kids. If I just told him about Cooper earlier, what would happen? Will he accept him?
"Thank you, Pierce," I said when he handed Cooper back to me, "How did you do that?"
He just shrugged, "I used to be the same with Priscilla."
"Where is she, by the way? I didn't notice her with you," I asked.
"She stayed there with my Grandparents now," he responded so I nodded.
After that, a huge silence invaded the whole area. I can't say anything to him, I don't know with him either if what's going on with his mind right now.
"Um, Pierce?" I started and noticed that he was looking around.
"Hmm?"
"Can we talk?" he was about to speak when Mr. Harret suddenly called us.
"Hey guys, come on and dinner is served."
We both looked at him and nodded. I went upstairs to put Cooper to bed since he fell asleep.
I was a little sad because Pierce and I couldn't continue the conversation.
When I got off, Pierce was still in his seat and as he sees me, he stood up, "Let's continue talking later. We can talk outside after dinner," he just said and headed to the dining area.
PIERCE
I can't believe how oblivious my parents were that thinking Sapphire and Cooper are siblings.
Well, after all. If I hadn't seen that necklace, I would have mistaken them as siblings.
After dinner, I made an excuse that I would go use the restroom, but I just went out and waited for her. A couple of minutes passed, and she then showed up and sat next to me with a huge gap between us.
"I just want to know if you can still forgive me for the things I hid from you?" she stated.
I sighed, "That's not the whole point about this, Sapphire. What happened yesterday just woke me up to the fact that I think we rushed into things -- we rush unto things that we shouldn't do and as we found each other, we grab the opportunities to heal our brokenness. We were looking for comfort after the huge disappointment in our lives. Me being broken when someone hurt me, and you are broken because of the mistakes and because of what your boyfriend did to you," I explained as I looked at the full moon.
I could feel her crying but still nodding, "I'm sorry if I didn't tell you everything. From the bottom of my heart, I'm sorry," I could feel and hear her sobs. I felt guilty about everything because I made her cry and I don't want her to cry especially if I'm the reason.
I hugged her and comforted her, "Don't cry, Fire. We might have met at the wrong time and place but that doesn't mean that we will never come back and we are not for each other," when I looked at me it seems like you slowed everything down.
I shouldn't be doing this but I miss her. I love her very much, I'm not mad at her but I was hurt because I don't want her to keep a secret from me.
I held her face and watched her beautiful face and sparkling eyes. I closed my eyes and drew close to her and little by little our lips were about to touch when suddenly my cell phone rang.
I closed my eyes and picked up my phone and was surprised to see the caller ID. I looked at Sapphire and held her hands, "Just a moment and I'll just answer this call."
SAPPHIRE
Pierce moved a little away to answer the call but I could still hear his voice.
"Hello?" he answered the call but I could see his eyes widening as if he was worried and scared.
"No, I'm free right now," he stood up from where he was sitting and walked around as if worried, "Calm down, sweetie. Everything's gonna be okay."
Sweetie? Who could have called him? I'm curious.
"Please, stop crying. Okay?"
"Okay, I'll be there right away. Don't leave, I'm on my way."
He hung up and looked at me, "Are you feeling better?" he asked while taking his jacket.
I nodded and he stood, "Good because I'm leaving right now," he said and left immediately.
I wasn't even asked to speak, it was like I was just forgotten. Who is it that called he is kind of worried?
When he left, I went back inside and saw that they were all still talking.
Mrs. Harret looked at me and wondered that Pierce was gone, "Where is my son?"
"Ah, he just left now. He is in a hurry," I replied and she seemed confused as well.
