SAPPHIRE
I am sitting on one of the benches while I am watching the kids playing around the Capitol Playground. Cooper’s in the stroller and I thought about spending some time here since it's not so noisy and peaceful here.
As I was reading, I heard a child screamed and called my name, "SAPPHIRE!"
I looked where she was and saw that it was Priscilla, I smiled at her as she came closer, "Hello Sapphire and hello to you, baby Cooper!" she waved towards the stroller.
"Hi, Priscilla. It's great to see you! What are you doing in here?"
"Oh, I am going to play here," she responded.
"Are you with your grandparents?" I asked but she shrugged,
"No, I am with my brother, Pierce."
Oh. She's with Pierce? I looked around, but I don't see him. "Where is your brother?"
"I think he is still outside. I saw you so I left him outside and ran here," she said, "How about you? What are you doing right now and what is that?" she pointed at the book I was holding.
"I'm reading a book," I showed her the book I read, "And, Baby Cooper and I had a few walk in the park."
"PRISCILLA!" my heart skipped a beat when I heard his voice. I looked up and saw him running and panting, "Priscilla, how could you run so fast? Why did you leave me there? Do you know that I'm worried? What if you got lost?"
"Relax and I am sorry, Pierce. I just saw Sapphire and Baby Cooper, so I ran to meet them," she said and he looked at my eyes.
My heart is pounding like crazy. "Fi — I mean, Sapphire. I am really sorry for disturbing you."
I shook my head and smiled at him, "No need to say sorry, it's okay. She can stay here. Although, I missed her, too."
Priscilla came to me and at the same time, I took Cooper from the stroller and gave him a milk to drink. Ever since, I haven't been able to breastfeed him because people would notice and mom doesn't agree people to know that he's my son. But, I don't know. Right now, I don't care about what other people will think about me and my son.
Priscilla held Cooper's little hands and looked at me, "Are you his mother?"
I can see that Pierce's eyes widened because that, but I just smiled at her and nodded, "Yes, I am his mother."
"You are a pretty mother," she said and suddenly stood up, "Anyway, Pierce and I will play first," I nodded and she suddenly pulled her brother towards the playground where the slides and swings are.
I looked at Pierce on how he took care of and supported her sister. He is so sweet and caring to his family. What if I told him about Cooper right away? Will he treat my son like that too?
After a while, I saw that Pierce had returned, "Babysitting is kind of tiring and it's killing me."
For the first time in a few weeks, he just now spoke to me like this, "Let me guess, Priscilla didn't need you there and ignores you?" I asked him and he just shrugged.
"Let's say it's her time to show of her charms on every people she met," he pointed at her sister who is happily playing with other kids her age.
"It's in the genes, after all," I said and I broke the gaze of down to Cooper.
Next thing I knew was that we were in a dead silence. No one wanted to talk but I spoke to him.
"Why did you do that, Pierce?" that's the question I've been dying to ask him ever since but only now did I have the courage.
He brushed through his hair with one hand, "Sapphire, I love you," he began, "I admit that I just couldn't accept that you have a child, but I swear, nothing happened to Lara and me. No matter what happens, I could never do that to you. It just proved to myself that I love you very much."
"You don't know how much it hurts. It hurts like hell," I confessed and took a deep breath.
He looked at me and I noticed that his eyes were red, "I'm so sorry, Sapphire," he touched my cheeks and looked me in the eyes, "Trust me, nothing happened to us. Yes, she went to our house because she thought that she still had hope but sadly, my heart belongs to you."
I nodded and I saw the man that I love, "I am sorry because I got angry without knowing the whole truth."
He wiped away my tears, "I'm sorry I was so mean and rude to you knowing about Cooper. It's just that I don't know how to deal with it. I've never experienced a situation like that before," he said, but eventually, he smiled, "But, I do love your son. I love him as my own too."
I proudly smiled at my son, "I am very sure he loves you too, Pierce."
"Anyway, that's how I found out about that because of your necklace, but it didn't matter. I also discovered that it was actually Lara who took your necklace, it makes sense too that she planned all along to make me hate you about Cooper," I was surprised when I heard that, "That's why I felt so guilty that because of me, about the schedules in class and in practice and especially, who knows what Lara will do."
"That's fine, it's not your fault. It's not your fault that she became bitter about your past with her."
He smiled, "So, that means that we're okay now?"
I nodded, "Of course. I love you so much even though I got angry, but I still love you and that doesn't change."
"I love you, more," he said and he hugged me, "So, are you busy tomorrow?"
"Maybe not, why?"
"Mom and Dad won't be here tomorrow, so I'll be left to take care of Priscilla. I just thought we'd bond at home. How about we'll do a movie marathon since we haven't seen each other in a while."
I laughed and pinched his cheek, "You're really cute. Alright, I'll come with you tomorrow."
"Alright!"
After a few hours we decided to go home and rest. I also told dad what happened and he also understood why those things happened and he was also happy that Pierce accepted Cooper to be his son, as well.
