PIERCE
When suddenly we all fell silent when Nichard suddenly spoke, "Oh, how are you and Sapphire doing?"
I looked at him, and Theo and Nichard were just smiling while Brad's eyes widened since he probably knew what happened. I looked at the two of them, "Hmm, we kind of have a cool-off breakup right now."
Both of them were stunned by the statement I made, "What?! Are you giving me a good time? I mean, you two are inseparable!"
"Yeah! You even make out just the other day!" Nichard snapped.
"I can't believe it either! Last Thursday, they were so sweet, but it just happened that yesterday, I got the news," Brad suddenly made a noise.
I shrugged at them, "There's nothing we can do. That's it, things are just not right."
Theo smiled and turned at the two, "Hey guys, can we talk for a bit? Outside," he said and turned at me, "Bro, just a second."
They left the bar and left me inside. What would they be talking about and they're not including me?
After a while, Theo came back but he was no longer with the two, "Oh, where are they?"
"Oh, someone called and they were going somewhere else," I nodded and drank again, "I assume that your separation and the baby have something to do with it."
I looked at him, "H-how do you... I mean — what?" I was surprised. How did he know? Did Fire tell him about it?
He smirked, "No offense, but it's obvious. The way he stares at Cooper is not the look of a sibling. But also, I accidentally overheard her convo and she mentioned that Cooper is her son."
I kept quiet there and continued to drink. I looked at him, "I missed her, bro."
"Then why did you let her go? Why did you leave her? I know that you also fell in love with her baby. It doesn't matter if it's her brother or her son."
"This is a big issue. First, why didn't she tell me this earlier? Second, I'm not ready to be an instant father to Cooper. Maybe, it's because I don't want or can't raise him properly, and then —"
"But, do you love her?" his question made me stop and think.
FLASHBACK EARLIER
Lara pulled me while still kissing me. She suddenly grabbed my shorts and I suddenly pushed her and stood up, "I can't do this."
I took her scattered clothes and gave them to her, "Get dressed so you can leave."
She also stood up and looked at me confused, "What's going on with you? We're just having fun here," she smirked and approached me again but I just pushed her away.
"I'm sorry. I don't love you anymore. I don't want to cheat on my girlfriend."
When Lara put on her clothes, she faced me with her angry face, "I thought you broke up with that bitch?" she almost screamed, "After all this time, you're still going to choose that cock slingshot woman? Come on, Pierce! She's just seventeen years old that got knocked up by someone else! Is that what you want?"
When she said that, I looked at her, "You're the one who stole her necklace. You stole it to send it to me, right?"
"Of course, I did! I was only protecting you from that bitch!"
I stared at her, coldly, "Don't turn her into a mirror. I'm sorry but I don't love you anymore."
"Don't tell me you're so in love with that girl?" Lara laughed so loudly that I didn't think twice and dragged her out of our house.
It was so wrong that I even let her enter my room.

"I do love her," I admit, "And I love her son."
"Then tell her that you love her. I know, she feels the same way about you."
The next day, we were in the court gathering as my dad gave us the announcement about the practice and the game which will be held at Tagum City.
"Yes! It is finally happening, bro! Everyday practice!" Brad said happily as dad dismissed us.
My best friend does love basketball since when we were kids. The National Athletic Meet is coming up, so we must get ready.
"Yeah, that's what dad said. Torture again!" I responded and I rolled my eyes.
We walked towards the school building we stopped in front of a bulletin board outside the building while waiting for Belle since we were going to have lunch together.
Now that he and Belle are together, it seems that they are inseparable.
I saw Belle sneaking at the back of Brad and then covering Brad's eyes, "Guess who it is," she said, changing her voice.
"Who is this? Maybe it's my best girlfriend or one of the cheerleaders?" Brad joked and he grinned.
I almost laughed when I saw Belle's crumpled face.
Belle immediately hit him, "Take back what you said, Bradley Elliot!"
His eyes widened, still feeling innocent, "What will I take back? That my girlfriend is beautiful? Why, there's nothing to take back!" he even kissed Belle's on her cheek and it was obvious that she was loving it and now they're cuddling with each other.
I rolled my eyes and called them, but they still didn't move so I mumbled, "K, I can leave and go to the canteen alone," I said to myself and left that place without even being noticed.
These two are strong and have their world.
I was walking to the canteen when I met Nicole on the way as if she was looking for someone, "Hi, Nics!"
She looked at her and smiled, "Oh Pierce, it's good to see you too. I've been looking for you for a while now. Did you happen to know where Sapphire is? I was excused earlier so I didn't have the chance to see and talk to her."
I looked at her confused, "Why? Is there a problem?"
"It's just some little problem with the schedule. Did you see her?"
"She didn't come in earlier. Her mom told me that she got sick."
She nodded, "Is that so? Alright, but, if you got the chance to talk to her, please tell her that Lara has moved the practice time to around two to three in the afternoon so that she can still have extra practice before the game."
I looked at her, "What? Why did she move the schedule? Doesn't Lara know that Fire has a class from two to three in the afternoon? She has an individual subject in ABM 1 subject."
"That's what I have been telling her about that but she didn't listen to me. I told her about Sapphire's schedules but she's very stubborn. I'm worried, Pierce. There are rules, if they can't attend the rehearsals, then, they're automatically out of the team," she said and shook her head.
I closed my eyes because I knew that I was the reason why Lara is this strict now, especially with my girlfriend. Fire is just a transfer at our school, but she has been dealing with a lot of problems and hardships.
Since I had rejected Lara, only Sapphire was the one she was furious with since she knew that Fire is the reason why I rejected her in the first place.
"I'm sorry, Pierce. I can't talk to Lara either since she's the team leader so she has more power than I do. Besides, I felt she was getting weirder and her behavior changed even more. Sometimes that makes me wonder why I still call her my best friend. She got worse since you two broke up, Pierce."
I half-smiled, "Yeah, don't worry. I'll just tell Fire since I was also planning to visit her later after our basketball practice. I'm sure, she'll find ways since cheering is her passion," I said and she nodded.
"Thanks a lot, Pierce. So, I'll be leaving then," she said.
"Sure. Have a great day, Nics!" I bid farewell too.
Hours passed and our classes and also our basketball training is dismissed, so I quickly got in my car and drove to Sapphire's house.
I pressed the doorbell, and I could see her dad come out to see me, "Oh hey, Pierce," I can see the confusion on his face.
"Hey, good afternoon, Mr. King," I greeted and took a deep breath, "I came to do by to visit Sapphire. I was worried since your wife, Mrs. King said that she was sick the whole weekend and she didn't come to school," I said and smiled at him even though I was nervous. still smiling here.
He weakly smiled at me, "Right. Well, I am sorry, Pierce, but my daughter doesn't want to see any visitors as of now. She's sick and she needs to rest," he said.
Now, I am very concerned about her. Is she doesn't alright? I hope she'll feel better.
I mean, I always called her but it seems that she had turned off her phone because I couldn't contact her.
"Can you just tell her that I'm here now? I need to talk to her. Please, sir."
I know pleased, but he just shook his head, "I'm sorry. She just told me that you're the last person she wants to talk to right now."
I was a little surprised by that. Me? She doesn't want to see me or either to talk to me? I sighed and nodded, "Okay, I understand. Could you please tell her to get well also about the cheerleading practice, the time has been moved to two to three in the afternoon?"
He smiled and nodded, "Alright, I'll just tell her that."
"Thank you. I'll go ahead," I let him know.
"Sure. Take care of yourself, Pierce."
I now went home and I quickly went to my room I looked out the window. Until now, her curtains and windows are still closed.
I guess that she is very sick to the point that she doesn't want to talk to anyone. But why is it like that? She doesn't want to talk to me? Is she mad at me because I left her all alone last Friday night?
But weird, I know her. She is not that shallow to get angry because of that. I know there is a reason why she is like this and I have to know why.
SAPPHIRE
"Thank you, dad," I said while lying on my bed. I am not sick, to be honest. I don't have the flu or any sickness.
It's just that I'm heartsick and there is no recommendation from the doctor. If you know what I mean.
Dad already knows everything side I told him last Saturday night about what had happened and what I saw.
My mom doesn't know about me and Pierce, so all she knows is that I am having a terrible headache and flu.
My dad hugged me, "I know you don't want to hear this but he said that you should get well. Also, about cheerleading that the time was moved from two to three."
I sighed as he released the hug, "Of course, Lara would do that. She knows that I have my class at that time, but I can find a way."
"You know what, maybe you two can get along. Even though I've only known him for a month, I know that he's a good person. Maybe he has a reason or maybe you just saw him wrong at that time."
I rolled my eyes but dared not to talk. I was hurt, but I also thought that what if dad was right?
But I don't know!
All I know is that I am so mad at him right now. I don't know if I can ever forgive him for what he did, but I still love him.
I've never really experienced this kind of pain, not even with Simon to think that we were in a relationship for three years, then here comes Pierce, having a one-month relationship, but it was really painful.
I do not know what to do. All I know is, Cooper is important to me. If he can't accept my son, then there's nothing I can do about it.
