CHAPTER 8: WHO IS SHE?

Lunch break was almost over when I got back to my own building. I want to check up on Chaos now but I don’t want to skip a class because my parents would be informed and we all know what would happen next. So I have no choice but to wait for all my classes to be over. I just hope that he’s still there later.
While listening attentively to the professor, I keep on wishing and whispering to the wind that time would pass by quickly and that Chaos would still be there.
The last class finally ended. Without any second thoughts, I immediately picked up my things and swiftly went out of the classroom.
Peace said that I could find him at the abandoned building across the garden that is right at the back of our building. I crossed my fingers.
Since the garden is quite hidden, I was able to run freely to quickly reach my destination without anyone noticing me.
I immediately put my hands on my knees the second I stepped into the abandoned building. I decided to lean on the doorway for a while to catch my breath while stopping to think.
How the hell can I find him here? This building is huge. I’m sure that I will have a very hard time finding him and if I can’t find him on time, I won’t have the chance to speak to him again. It sounds exaggerated but I’m sure that I won’t have the same courage to find and talk to him again.
Whatever. I can do this. I carelessly went towards the second floor. I don’t know but my instincts are telling me that I can find him here.
The moment I entered the floor, my eyes immediately roamed at the far end of the hallway. I was right. There sat Chaos. His elbows were on his knees while both of his hands were on his head.
To be honest, I feel like I saw another part of him. I have always seen him with a strong facade. Together with his bad boy aura, I never really thought that he has a side like this. His weak side laid bare before my eyes.
I don’t think he noticed my presence. So I went near him and slowly sat down by his side. I felt him flinch at my sudden intrusion.
“How long have you been here?” He asked me.
“I don’t know. About 3 minutes ago, I guess” I said while trying to face him.
“I will go straight to the point. I am here to ask you some things. Actually, I met someone who could give me the answers that I badly wanted but he told me that I should ask you instead.”
Without a further ado, he smiled a little and said, “I see that you’ve met Peace. How is he? Does he fit in your standard for a guy?”
Is this guy trying to divert the topic? But I don’t mind. He can divert the topic anytime he wants but I’ll make sure that I’ll get my answers no matter what.
“Yup, he fits perfectly in my standards. Instead of talking about him, why don’t you try to give me the answers now? In that way we’ll finish faster. The sooner I get the answers that I want, the better. And we’ll be able to separate paths much faster,” I said without blinking. Trying to make him see how eager I am.
He tried to avoid my eyes and focused his sight in front of us.
“Fine. Shoot your questions. I don’t want to tell a whole story from the beginning.” He raised his hands midair, accepting his defeat.
“Okay.” I inhaled deeply. “First, I want to know how you knew me.”
“I believe Peace already told you the answers. Whatever his answers were, are also mine. We’re twins right? Of course, there’s no secrets between us,” he said while still trying to avoid my gaze.
“Next, why did you approach me? And in the most random time of my life.” I probed again, trying to squeeze answers from him.
“I approached you because I pitied you. Not the kind of pity where you’re really incredibly wronged. But the kind of pity where you do not want to accept whatever they are commanding you but you can’t just say no to them.”
Okay, that was heavy. The memory flashed back in the back of my mind. What he said is right. I really can’t say no.
“Why did you introduce yourself to me then?” There was a stress in my voice, urging him to tell everything I wanted to know.
“Because I don't want to watch you in the shadows. I want you to know me. I want to get close to you. D*mn! I don’t want to look like a stalker and fright you. That’s why I introduced myself. I know that you don’t know me despite my popularity and infamous reputation with girls because you don’t mostly give a care on what’s new or what’s the trend.:”
I was left dumbfounded. I never expected that he would say that. Just, wow! All this time someone has been watching my movements from the shadows. It gave me creeps but I don’t know, it was immediately replaced with a feeling unfamiliar to me.
Is it anxiety? No, I don’t think this is one of my attacks. This is something more intense. Nervousness? No. It’s something that I can’t really explain. Maybe it’s because of the thought that someone cared for me, even in secret.
Instead of dwelling on the thought, I decided to shoot my last question. A question that I never knew could change some of my outlooks in life.
“Peace said something about a girl that is eerily similar to me, especially my actions. I asked him but he told me that it is not his story to tell. So I want to know, Chaos. Who is she?”
