Chapter 11. Beras Basah Island

Chapter 11. Beras Basah Island
"Stick to the plan?" Lucky asked with a look of significance at the boss.
Adam knew what Lucky's question meant when it didn't actually require an answer from him. He leaned back and laughed in response to the mischievous ideas of his assistant.
"Okay. Call Hassan to postpone all the arrangements by the day after tomorrow. If it can't wait, I'll handle it from here." Adam gave instructions to Lucky who was still sitting in front of him.
"Okay," Lucky replied.
"So be it! I'll go back to my room." Adam got up and walked out of the restaurant. The man stopped short and turned around and gave Lucky another clue. "By the way, manage with a low budget," he ordered with a thin smile.
"Seriously, Boss?" Lucky asked unconvinced, while Adam had walked away. Lucky was stunned by his boss's decision. "Well, who the hell are you Bianca?" Lucky mumbled.
Beras Basah Island was one of the beach destination tours with white sand beds in East Kalimantan. The location was approximately three hours from the center of Samarinda. Lucky already have specifically found out and have adjusted the plan with Indira's management agendas to reach the tour destination.
After checking out of the hotel that afternoon, Adam and Lucky flew back immediately. As Adam had asked, Lucky took the cheapest ticket, something that he never did during his time as Adam's assistant. He was afraid that Mrs. Wursita would find out someday.
"You're all my replacement during your work with Adam. Keep him safe. If you do something that I wouldn't do to my son, then don't do it. I will know and I will punish you if anything goes wrong. Got it?" The warning of Mrs. Wursita to all five of the assistants came through Lucky's mind.
When Lucky handed Adam the plane ticket, he held up and said, "Boss, shouldn't I change to business class?"
"Why? Does this class make the plane crawl? Doesn't fly?" Adam said, "there's no difference." He went on to snatch the ticket out of Lucky's hand and leave the assistant behind.
Lucky's mind said that he couldn't make this issue reach Mrs. Wursita's ear. Therefore, he decided to keep this secret even from the other assistants.
Low budget meant Adam stayed in a hotel far from what he used to rent. Both Adam and Lucky wore only short shorts and a navy T-shirt, and they used a simple backpack. Low budget meant that Adam did not want to be conspicuous.
Adam and Lucky stood a bit far from people where Bianca was. They were about to cross to Beras Basah Island by a speed boat. The heir to the Saguna family only watched Bianca from afar.
"Boss, why are we still here? Let's go with them," Lucky said.
"Nope. The timing is not correct," Adam replied.
Then, it looked like Bianca's avoiding the convoy and going the other way. Adam took off the sunglasses and made sure that what he saw was true.
"Hey, where is she going?" he murmured.
"Who, Boss?" Lucky, who initially noticed the screen on the phone, was stunned to hear Adam's words.
Indira's team management had boarded the ship and were already traveling across the sea. Bianca never showed up again. Adam made his way down to the dock, followed by Lucky who's still with a surprised face.
Then from behind a parked truck, Bianca appeared and walked in the same direction as Adam was heading.
The small motorboat driver was seen negotiating with some people who were planning to board. "Come on board, let's get going!" The driver of the boat exclaimed to the passengers. Bianca was seen speeding her way up to the lip of the pier. Then she got on the boat. Adam and Lucky were going to follow.
The small motorized ship contained a driver with an assistant and then eight passengers sat on two long benches facing each other. Adam sat down at the very end. Got in touch with Bianca. She gave only a glimpse at the occupants of the ship and shifted her focus on enjoying the calm waves that hit the hull.
Behind the sunglasses worn, Adam observed Bianca. Occasionally throwing a glance into the sea if she glanced at him by mistake. The arduous trip lasted only fifteen minutes. Passengers one by one exited the ship.
Adam queues behind Bianca.
One of Bianca's feet slipped on the dock. Luckily Adam instantly catched her, which has lost her balance. One of Adam's hands held Bianca by the shoulder and the other held the woman's upper arm.
"Aw!" Bianca chanted spontaneously. The woman's face slightly looked at the person supporting her. Adam just smiled weakly in reply. Time seemed to stop a fraction of a second. They stared at each other.
Then the silence broke as the ship's driver shouted, "Please be careful, Lady."
Adam took his hand off Bianca's body," Ah, I'm sorry," he said.
"It's okay. Thank you," Bianca said.
Adam went up to the dock first and then extended his hand to help Bianca climb from being tripped up again. Bianca welcomed Adam's hand. "Thank you," Bianca said once again. Adam just smiled in reply.
From a distance someone called Bianca, "Big sissy, come hurry!" Indira called loudly. After giving enough gratitude to Adam, she walked away.
Adam in short pants and a dark blue shirt walked with both hands in the pants pocket. "What's the news from Jakarta?" Adam asked Lucky.
"My goodness, Boss. The romance has just begun, why are you asking me about work all of a sudden?" Lucky replied.
"That is called dedication. You've never heard of it?" Adam made fun of his assistant.
"Boss, don't fire me!" Lucky said with both hands joined together as a petition.
Adam looked up his smile and continued his pace. "So? What's the report?" Adam raised his voice loud enough to alert Lucky, who was still fixed where he stood.
"Ah!" Lucky immediately took the tablet from his backpack and checked something there and rushed to follow in the footsteps of the boss, who was quite far away.
Lucky explained some work-related matters and Adam occasionally responded. The man then stopped at the end of the pier, took off his sunglasses. While scanning the island and stopping to see the group that had been watching, it was Indira's management team. And it was clear that Bianca's there, too.
Adam chose a gazebo not far from Bianca's position. "I wonder if she doesn't recognize me?" Adam mumbled.
"I know from Hassan and Trias about the incident at the hospital. So, is she the woman you helped, Boss?" Lucky asked.
Adam answered after taking a sip to relieve his thirst. "I'm sure she is. But if she didn't recognize me while I was sitting in front of her, I wondered," Adam explained.
Lucky furrowed his eyebrows in response to the amazement, "You were right, Boss." He paused, "except ...."
Adam turned, "Except what?" he asked.
"Unless she doesn't want to be identified. So she pretended not to know you, Boss,"
Lucky's boss was dreamy. What his assistant said could be one of the possibilities. But then he got back to thinking why Bianca did not want to be known? He was the one who helped her while they were stuck in that elevator.
Adam's phone rang. Mrs. Wursita was calling him.
"Yes, Mom," Adam called.
[Why aren't you back in Jakarta by now?] Mrs. Wursita asked boldly.
Adam glanced at Lucky. Turned out the news of his impending return has reached the mother's ear.
"I still have business, Mom," he replied.
[Can it be left? Or represent? I have something more important for you to do] Mrs. Wursita's voice sounded serious and did not want to be debated.
Adam swallowed his spit. "What's that, Mom?"
