Chapter 20. Lunch Invitation
Chapter 20. Lunch Invitation
The next morning, Bianca was sitting with her arms crossed over her chest, her eyes staring straight into a clear glass vase filled with water with a few beautiful and fragrant yellow roses. Along with the flowers there was again a card with the initials A as the sender. The woman still had not guessed the direction of the sender's wishes.
Yesterday at the reception desk, this time it was so bold to put the flower on the work table. It was possible for Bianca to ignore it again like before, but this time it was a little too much. She glanced at the card again, remembering the words on it, "Can we be friends?" she muttered.
Ignoring all workers in the same room with her who exchanged glances because of the roses on her desk, Bianca went to look for Joko, the office boy who served on the floor where she worked. The woman went to the pantry room. However, she found no one there. On the way out, Bianca bumped into Amelia who just got out of the elevator. "Looking for someone, Bi?" Amelia asked.
"Joko. Do you see him?" Amelia shook her head to answer Bianca's question. "What do you need from Joko? It's still early." Amelia immediately asked out of curiosity.
Bianca handed her a card that originally came with a rose. Amelia read it and let out a laugh in surprise. "What? The mysterious guy sent something to you again? Flowers? Where?" Without hesitation Amelia rushed into the room and glanced at Bianca's desk. The yellow rose looked striking in the room. Amelia smiled with satisfaction then turned to look at the recipient of the flowers. "Isn't he cute enough to send those flowers as a token of friendship, Bi?" Amelia winked her eyes trying to tease Bianca.
Inwardly Bianca felt the opposite. The flower sender was scary. However, she restrained herself as best she could to remain calm. "You watch too many Korean dramas," Bianca accused and looked back at her desk. She put off her plan to meet Joko. Later when the OB appears, then she would ask.
Work hours had started, everyone was busy with their own work. Until it came lunchtime, and one name made the first list Bianca would meet. "Joko!" she called at once when he saw the OB passing by. "Yes, Ma'am. Any work for me?" Joko asked politely.
"I want to ask about the roses on my table. Did you accept it?"
"Oh yes, Ma'am. From the security guard this morning. He said I had to put it on Mrs. Bianca's desk. Why, Ma'am? Is something wrong?" Joko became nervous and afraid when he made a mistake.
"No, I just want to ask who sent it?"
"Well, I don't know, Ma'am," Joko answered innocently.
"I mean, did the security guard tell you who sent it?" Bianca asked again.
"Well, there was a card, wasn't it? The security guard said who sent it was on the card, Ma'am. So I just did what he asked me to, and I'm not asking for more," Joko explained.
"Oh, I see. Yes, I have the card. It's okay. I'll also ask the security guard. Is the security guard at night or in the morning?"
"Night, Ma'am," the man replied.
"Okay. Thank you. You may leave." Bianca could not have waited until the security guard in question returned to work tonight. The woman sighed. She chose to ignore the mystery once again. 'Too much important work to do,' she thought.

Someone forcibly broke into Adam's room office, even though Adam's secretary had tried to stop her. The door opened, Hassan and Adi were seen standing in front of Adam who was sitting in his chair.
"Sorry, sir. I have forbidden her, but ..." Vina apologized, the new secretary to replace Trias, standing next to Luna, who did not seem at all sorry for interrupting the meeting that Adam was having.
"Hi, Adam. It's okay, right, I'm in. It's lunch time, you know," Luna said.
If it was related to work, Adam would become serious and his trademark friendly face seemed to be left somewhere. To be honest he was surprised to see Luna suddenly come to his office, but remembering his mother's words that they were still distantly related, Adam tried to suppress his emotions.
"But we're still having a meeting," Adam said, leaning his back.
Luna showed off a lunch box in her left hand. "Break for lunch first, okay? I am here delivering your lunch. Aunt Wursita who sent it," Luna said as if she did not accept the rejection.
Unknowingly the man furrowed his brows in surprise. "Hassan, take the meals!" Adam ordered his assistant.
Hassan had just walked one step, Luna replied, "We have to have lunch together. That's what Aunt Wursita ordered." .
Adam had no other choice. After that, Adam allowed the others to leave the room and left Luna with him. "Are you from Menteng?" Adam asked.
"Yes. I was stopped by. When Aunt Wursita was cooking. Then when I said that I was going to your office, Auntie hurriedly took the lunch box, then she asked me to have lunch together with you. Your mom said, if you eat alone, you won't eat much. Auntie was worried, don't you know?" Luna chirped.
Adam's cell phone rang. Instantly his left index finger made a gesture for Luna to stop for a moment. "Yes?" Adam said as he put the black phone on the right side of his face.
[The new office is ready, Boss. I have scheduled a meeting this afternoon at 2 p.m. with the staff] Trias said from across the line. Then Hassan's wife reported a few details for the Boss's approval.
Meanwhile, Luna was engrossed in Adam's face without hesitation. Finding himself the focus of attention, Adam became uncomfortable. "Okay. Two o'clock. I still have one more meeting before I go," Adam finally said.
[Okay, Boss] The communication ended.
Adam took a seat on the long sofa in the room. "You're not eating?" Adam asked because he saw Luna who did not move from her standing position and instead was just busy staring at the man's face.
Hearing the reprimand, Luna was flabbergasted and then smiled awkwardly. Then followed Adam.
Adam's secretary came in with two glasses of water along with plates and cutlery for their lunch utensils.
Luna skillfully prepared Adam's lunch, or rather for both of them. There are two side dishes, potato liver sauce and Adam's favorite corn vegetable stir fry. And for the man only Mrs. Wursita managed to cook it to perfection. Adam's smile grew. The scent of cooking that was wafted by the nose made him already imagine the deliciousness of today's lunch.
"Did auntie send you to lunch every day?" the girl asked when she caught Adam's sweet smile.
"Not really. But this is my favorite food. If my mother cooks this, she would definitely send it to the office," the man replied.
"Ah, do you like it?" Luna pointed to a container filled with potato liver sauce. "Well, what's its name? I forgot," the girl said shyly.
"Potato liver sauce."
"Ah, yeah. That's the name. Er, isn't it potato gizzard chili sauce?" Luna's correction.
"I don't like gizzard. So mom would definitely skip the ingredients every time she cooked this meal," Adam explained.
Luna nodded. Then bite by mouth they taste it. "Hmm ... yeah, it's really good. And no wonder it became your favorite," Luna exclaimed.
"That's right. And my mother's cooking was different from other people's cooking. It's like there are incantations," Adam said ending with a small laugh.
Luna also laughed, "I do believe it. Our mother's cooking is the best," she said.
The food on Adam's plate was finished. Luna was about to take another spoonful for Adam, but the man refused. "No, that's it. That's enough."
"But you eat a little, Adam. Auntie ordered earlier that you have to eat a lot, until you are full," Luna said.
"I know. I usually eat well when my mother cooks this. But I have another meeting scheduled. It can't be postponed," Adam explained so that Luna would understand.
"Okay, nevermind." Luna also put down the spoon.
"But if you want to keep eating, that's fine." Adam took a sip of his drinking water.
"Nah. It's better if someone comes with you to eat," Luna said. There was a second of silence and then it was broken when Luna said her heart's desire, "Err, Adam, could we have lunch together again tomorrow?" she asked.Download Novelah App
