Chapter 57

"I will share you a secret, Jin. Did you know that my father chose Akito as his successor instead of me?”
Jin examines Himari's face, looking for any indications that she is joking right now. But her face appears normal, and her eyes do not attempt to avoid his gaze. As a result, Jin only takes her words seriously.
"Your father?"
"Yup. You know him, right? I mean, not everyone believes that my father no longer manages the Tigers." Himari nonchalantly said. "They believe Kila Fujimoto is still making decisions for the Tigers, and he is purposefully misleading them by spreading the news that his hidden daughter is now in charge of the Silver Tigers."
Then Himari turns her head and gives Jin a mischievous expression.
"That's right. You also have that look when the Dragons and Tigers made their first deal."
"What look?" Jin asked.
"A surprised look when you confirmed that a woman is running a large mafia organization like the Silver Tigers." Himari answered with a smile. "But that was only for a few seconds. You quickly concealed it with your serious face."
Jin did not even try to deny her words. It was true after all. He does not have any discrimination about it. Jin had already met a few women, such as Himari, who are capable of leading their own groups. He is simply fascinated by the fact that a woman can handle the pressures of leading a large organization while also keeping it in order.
"But their assumptions yield a positive result for me. At the very least, no one knows I am the Silver Tigers' leader."
"Why are you hiding your identity?"
If Himari reveals that she is currently in charge of the Tigers, she will gain a significant advantage. No one will dare to be rude in front of her. No one will attempt to harm her unless they have a death wish. Even the police will be afraid to confront Himari because she has many useful connections.
"You can simply announce that you are now leading the Tigers. It will be safer for you than hiding the truth from everyone."
Maintaining Himari's status as Silver Tigers' leader is also a good strategy. Because no one knows her true identity, their enemies who have never dealt with them before will never suspect Himari is involved with the Tigers. They are probably thinking that Kila Fujimoto is still the Silver Tigers' leader.
However, Himari's reputation as a newly established businesswoman in their city remains at risk. Is Himari unaware of how harmless she appears in public? She may be lunatic and crazy in Jin's eyes, but this woman is definitely hopeless without any weapon in her hands. Himari did not even know how to defend herself! The worst part is that Himari is constantly using her glib tongue to insult her enemies, putting her life in danger.
"Where's the fun on it, right?" Himari answered with a chuckle. "Seeing their faces when they discover the truth is always the best. I love seeing their confidence crumble and be replaced by fear and anxiety."
"And you keep wondering why I call you a lunatic."
Himari laughs when she hears this. Standing up, she approaches Jin and sits on his lap. Jin naturally placed his hand around her waist to support her body. Himari settles into his lap and rests her head on his chest.
"Who says that is my only reason?" Himari asked.
"Oh? You have other reason aside from that?" Jin asked.
"Yeah. And a valid one too."
"Oh really?" Jin asked, adjusting his arm to provide more support for Himari's body.
"Of course. My other reason is very simple though. The truth is, I was not supposed to be the one leading the Tigers. My father's successor is Akito and not me."
"What?"
"How do you see me, Jin?" Himari asked.
"What do you mean?"
"If you will remove the part from me where I have the Silver Tigers in my hands, how are you going to describe me?"
"A woman who has a devil-may-care attitude. Someone who has a happy-go-lucky personality but is also crazy, lunatic, fearless, and stupid."
Himari laughs once more. In her joy, she even slaps Jin's chest. Jin clicks his tongue but Himari ignores it. She even has to wrap her arms around his neck to maintain her balance on his lap. Himari's laughter rings in Jin's ears, but he says nothing.
"How can you say that to your girlfriend, Jin? And you did not hesitate at all."
"I am just asking your question. It is not my fault if those are my impression towards you."
"Pfft. Okay, okay. I got it." Himari said before she put her head back to his chest. "Well, that is the truth anyway."
"Yeah?"
"Maybe those are the reasons why my father does not want me to handle the Tigers. He is afraid that being his successor will bring more danger to my life."
"Then what happened next?"
"Something happened and Akito opposed to that idea. After that, my father disappeared from the spotlight and I replaced him as the Tiger's new leader. As for Akito, he swore his life, trust, and loyalty to me."
Silence envelopes the room after that. Jin keeps his hand on her waist while Himari is busy rubbing her fingertips on his chest. They continue their silence until Himari asks him a new question.
"Are you not curious?"
"About what?"
"About my father's death. You heard what Dansel Choi had said that night, right? He mentioned that I killed my own father and steal the Tigers from him. Are you not curious if that is true or not?"
"I am curious." Jin honestly said. "But I will not ask you about it."
"But why?"
"It is your privacy, Himari. I do not want to pry too much about your life without your consent."
Himari chuckles a bit when she heas that.
"What a noble thing to do. Hmm... Did I also mentioned before that I like your gentleman side? I really think the day I got drunk became my luckiest day because I made you be my boyfriend."
"You are speaking nonsense again."
"I don't think so." Himari said before planting a kiss on his cheek. "But you know? I will answer your question if you are going to ask me today."
Jin lowers his eyes and meet Himari's gaze.
"Are you not afraid that I will use the things you had shared to my advantage?" Jin asked.
"Why? Are you really going to do it?" Himari asked her back.
"I am more curious why are you trusting me too much."
"Maybe I feel so comfortable with you because you are very handsome, Jin."
When Jin's eyebrows furrows, Himari smiles at him first before lifting her head and giving him a soft kiss on his lips. Before Himari can separate her lips from him, Jin deepen their kiss by putting his other hand on her head. Jin can feel Himari's lips curving up a little but she still welcomes his kisses as usual.
