Chapter 59
"Are you taking care of yourself? It appears you have lost some weight." Mr. Kaito said this while patting Himari's back.
"I am very healthy, grandpa. You can ask Uncle Ron to confirm it if you want." Himari said before looking at Tyronne.
"She is too full of energy, Mr. Kaito. But it worries me too much because it simply means she has a lot of free time to fool around in the city."
"Hey! I am not that bad, Uncle Ron. I am just unwinding a bit. Relaxing and having fun also benefits my mental health."
Tyronne said nothing. That girl is very good at making excuses. Himari occasionally amazed him with her ability to make excuses for her actions.
"How was your injury?" Tyronne asked Himari.
"Oh, right! Your son can also be a good doctor, Uncle Ron! Akito treated my wound, and it healed in only three days. Though there is still a small scab, I am confident that it will leave no scars on my forehead. No surprise you are the head doctor!"
Tyronne raises his brow as he looks at Himari, who is smiling innocently in his direction.
"Kiddo, you know that praising me will not stop me from scolding you."
Himari's smile slowly fades. She turns her head and clicks her tongue. Although her Uncle Ron became a father figure to her as she grew up, she still dislikes being scolded by him. Himari despises it when anyone, including her grandfather, scolds her.
"Why are you scolding me? It was not my fault that Choi turned stupid after betraying us. First and foremost, we were betrayed by the Lions. You know I will not do anything unless someone tries to provoke the Tigers."
"That is not my point, little girl."
"I am already a grown-up woman. Thank you very much."
"But you are still a little girl in my eyes."
Himari looks at her Uncle Ron first, then sighs. Arguing with him will make her tired. Himari returned to her seat, resting her back on it.
"Himari, why did you delay reporting on the recent attack that happened to you?" Mr. Kaito asked.
"Sorry, grandpa. I was busy turning the Lions into dust as my form of revenge." Himari answered with a smile.
The night the Lions attempted to ambush and kill Himari, she changed her mind about sending Dansel Choi to her grandfather. Instead, she transported him to one of their private villas and locked him inside. Following that, she pulled an all-nighter to ensure that the Lions vanished before the sun rose in the sky.
"Grandpa, I just want to take over that job. Since they dared to betray us and endanger our men, it is my responsibility to eliminate the dangerous pests that linger around the Tigers.
"Himari, you understand that dealing with those pests does not require you to get your hands dirty. I am still strong enough to crumble them into pieces. If you can not reach me, you can call Tyronne and ask for his assistance. You can also ask Akito to handle it from the start.
"I know that, grandpa. But I cannot always rely on others to deal with these things."
"Himari, you do not have to put blood on your hands."
"Grandpa, can I ask you a favor?" Himari suddenly asked.
"Of course. What is it?"
"Stop treating me like a fragile child already." Himari seriously said.
Himari's relaxed and gentle demeanor abruptly shifts. She is no longer smiling. Instead, Himari looks at her grandfather with serious eyes. The old man matches her demeanor and stares sternly at his granddaughter.
"You cannot always keep these bloody scenarios away from me, grandfather." Himari said.
"You know that we are doing it for your own good."
"And I appreciate it a lot. But grandfather, I am no longer a kid who cannot deal with these things. And you saw how the Tigers improved after I replaced my father as their leader. Besides, my hands had already been stained with blood a long time ago." Himari nonchalantly said.
Following her statement, the atmosphere in the room darkens.
"I know my dad does not like me to be his successor. But I used to disobey him a lot, right?" Himari asked and tilted her head a little.
When Himari mentions Kila in their conversation, Mr. Kaito's expression dims a little. But he quickly fixes his expression before staring at his granddaughter straight into her eyes. Himari's eyes did not avoid his gaze. In their family, only Kila and Himari have the guts to look at his eyes without showing any fear.
"Do you think if my dad is here, he will change his mind and give his blessings for me to be the next leader of Cyrstal Tigers?" Himari asked with a smile.
"Himari." Tyronne called her name as a warning.
Himari slowly blink her eyes before his lips curves upward.
"Oh, well. I guess I can only make a wild guess about it since papa cannot answer that question anymore."
Then Himari stands up from her seat. She slowly walk towards her grandfather and kiss him on his cheek.
"I will talk with the others in the meantime, grandpa. See you again later at lunch."
Without waiting for their answers, Himari leaves the room alone. The three men inside watch her retreating back until the door closed with a heavy thud. Mr. Kaito massages his temple first before asking Akito another question.
"...Is she having a hard time recently?"
"No, sir." Akito said. "Miss Himari is always in a good mood these days because of Jin Takishima. Though she is still asking some ridiculous requests lately, it is not really threatening for her safety and to the Tigers. You can rest assured that Miss Himari knows her limit and what she is doing."
"I see." Mr. Kaito said with a nod. "I've already made a quick background check on Takishima's son. So far, I am receiving good feedback about him. If Himari wants to hang out with that boy, then just let her do it."
"I understand."
"You are already doing a good job, Akito. Just continue it and always stay on Himari's side."
"Thank you for your kind words, sir. And I will protect Miss Himari with my life." Akito answered with a firm nod.
Mr. Kaito stands up from his seat to step out of his room. Tyronne and Akito quietly follows him from behind. When they go downstairs, the three men can see Himari talking animatedly with Danny which results in a burst of a happy laugh from their butler.
Mr. Kaito is watching his granddaughter in silence. His stern expression always turns soft whenever Himari is around. Ever since she came into their lives, a lot of things had changed in their family. Himari becomes the main source of happiness for Mr. Kaito and Kila.
Akito also gazes at the woman he promised to protect all the time. Himari is really well-loved not only by her family but also by those people around her. They are trying their best to make her happy and safe. He just hopes that Himari can truly understand it and stop doing things that may hurt her in the future.Download Novelah App
