Chapter 60
'Jin! Let us meet tonight and have a nice dinner. If you buy me a bottle of rose wine, I might be able to give you something more special later.'
'Hint: We can do it on your bed all night!'
'Of course, that will only happen if you make the first move.'
"Tch. What a shameless woman."
Before the sun appeared in the sky, Himari called him again, as if nothing was wrong. Fortunately, Jin is already accustomed to Himari's unexpected calls. It may sound absurd, but he believes his body is adjusting to her crazy antics these days.
Himari informed him that she would visit her grandfather today. She freely informed him that her grandfather would like to see her once more to assess her health. After that, all Jin can say is okay. Jin is not particularly interested in what she does on a daily basis, but he did appreciate her efforts to keep him informed.
Jin was not sure when it happened. But he simply became accustomed to her presence and craziness. Of course, he is still irritated by her eccentric personality. However, Jin will not deny that he is beginning to like her company.
Despite her oddities, Himari gets along well with the Dragons. Every time Himari visits his office, the Dragons greet her politely, and Himari cheerfully responds. Jin once caught his men talking about his girlfriend. They were astounded by Himari because she is not afraid of them. The majority of White Dragons have large, muscular bodies. In addition, their skin is covered in scars and large tattoos.
Generally, people want to avoid them. These people are afraid of their appearance. The Dragons are well aware that these individuals believe they are bad people who only want to cause trouble. It is unusual for them to meet a person, particularly a woman, who is not afraid to be associated with them.
So, when they met Himari and discovered she does not judge them based on their appearance, they quickly accepted her as a member of the Dragons and accepted the possibility that she would become their future mistress.
"Boss, did Miss Himari send you a text? Is she not coming to see you today?" Jack suddenly asked.
Instead of responding, Jin glares at Jack for being nosy. Jack sees his boss's eyes in the rearview mirror and quickly lowers his gaze to concentrate on driving. Jack has been receiving cold stares from his boss ever since he accidentally saw the couple kissing inside the office.
"Boss..."
"No. Just drive the car and do not say a word." Jin said, closing his eyes and leaning back in the back seat.
Jack can only pout his lips and drive safely. His boss is probably still upset with him because he disturbed them that day. When Jack asked the other Dragons about it, he got nothing but head smacks. They claimed Jack was unable to read the atmosphere between their boss and his girlfriend.
"But boss—"
When a gunshot rings out in their car, Jack is unable to finish his sentence. He quickly applies the brakes and checks his boss. Jack is aware that his boss's cars are all bulletproof. Nonetheless, Jack wants to ensure that nothing has happened to his boss. Thankfully, Jin is safe.
Jin's expression changed instantly. Jin thought he could take a break after dealing with his opponents earlier. Looking out the window, Jin notices a car with familiar people inside it. As expected, these are the remaining Salamanders who escaped from them last night.
"Jack, drive the car back to the warehouse. Bern and the others are still there." Jin ordered.
Jack asked no further questions and resumed driving the car. While Jack drives the car, Jin prepares his gun and checks the bullets inside it. Their enemies keep firing their guns at them, making it difficult for Jack to drive the car. When he was about to turn into the right alley, a car suddenly stopped in front of them, forcing Jack to apply the brakes.
Two cars have cornered them in the alley. They were being fired at by eight individuals who emerged from it. Jin and Jack lower themselves into the car.
A man wearing a mask approaches the car slowly, checking to see if Jin is already dead. He orders his men not to shoot the car in the meantime. The man carefully opens the car door at the back, only to be shot in the chest. Jin shoots him twice before holding the man's neck and using his body as a human shield.
The remaining seven people are surprised that Jin is still alive. They did not realize Jin's car could protect him from sniper rifles and high-velocity guns. They simply assumed that because he had been separated from his men, they would be able to exact their revenge.
Jin wasted no time in shooting the two people near the car, taking advantage of their surprised expressions. Jack also shoots two more people as he opens the car door. The three remaining people awaken from their trance and move their hands to shoot the boss of White Dragons.
Unfortunately for them, Jin is already one step ahead of them. His gun is already pointed at them, and he just needs to pull the trigger. With three decisive shots, the three remaining enemies are knocked down. Jin pushes the body he is holding away from him, waiting to see if anyone will fire in their direction. Nothing happens after a few seconds of waiting, so Jin and Jack exit the vehicle.
"Tch. Amateurs."
"Boss, are you alright?"
"I'm fine." Jin replied before pulling his phone from his inside pocket to call Bern. Bern answered the phone quickly after the first ring.
(Hello, boss. Do you need something?)
"Send the other Dragons to our location. It is twenty-three kilometers away from the warehouse. Those who had escaped from us earlier followed and attacked my car." Jin said.
(Are you alright, boss?!)
"Yes. I'm alright—Jack, duck!"
Pulling Jack's body behind him, Jin notices that one of the men is still alive and pointing his gun at Jack's head. Because of Jin's intervention, the man is unable to kill Jack, despite the fact that his bullet hits Jin on the left shoulder. Jack moves his hand quickly, shooting the man twice.
"Boss, are you alright?! Boss!" Jack said in a loud and worried voice.
"I'm fine." Jin answered in gritted teeth.
Because Jin was still talking with his right-hand man at the time, Bern wasted no time in ordering the Dragons to rush to their boss's location.Download Novelah App
