Chapter 58
While silently driving the car, Akito steals quick glances at the woman sitting in the back. She is eating a box of chocolate and using her phone. She occasionally chuckles, which raises Akito's suspicion.
Himari has been in a good mood lately, which always surprises Akito. Although Himari is always smiling, there are times when her mood drops due to stress or fatigue. She is just good at concealing it with her practiced smile. But, as the person closest to her, Akito can easily detect her mood.
Akito can only guess that it has to do with Jin Takishima, the White Dragons' leader. According to the men he sent every day to protect Himari from afar, she is constantly visiting the Dragons' headquarters to see her plaything. They also informed him that the Dragons show their boss the utmost respect. It appears that Jin Takishima had already introduced Himari to the Dragons as his girlfriend.
He does not know all the details because Himari never told him. All he knows is that they are having a casual affair that could easily end if either of them changes their minds. Of course, Himari had the idea all along. Though Akito is frequently disturbed by her drastic decisions, he has not attempted to thwart her plans as long as she is safe and having fun.
"Himari." Akito called her name.
"Hmm? What is it?" Himari asked without looking back at him.
"How is your relationship with Jin Takishima?"
"So far, so good." Himari answered with a smile. "I think we are also compatible with each other."
"You are always saying that every time you see a good-looking guy."
"Fair point." Himari said. "But he is a good kisser."
Akito steps on the brake all of a sudden. Himari had anticipated his reaction, which is why she closed her box of chocolates and gripped her phone tightly. Himari laughs happily as Akito turns his head to look at her with a slight glare.
"Your reactions never fail to entertain me, Akito." Himari said while shaking her head.
"Can you stop telling me those horrible jokes? They are not funny." Akito replied with a frown.
"Who says that I am joking?" Himari answered back. "Jin is indeed a good kisser."
"Are you serious, Himari? You allow your plaything to kiss you?"
"Mind your manners, Akito."
"I don't care! Of all people, why did you choose him to be your plaything?"
"Plaything?" Himari asked. Then she let out a chuckle. "He is not just my plaything, Akito. I am considering Jin as a trusted companion right now."
"You and that man? Are you being serious with me?! Your plaything is not qualified to be on your side."
"Stop."
"Not only because you are an important person, but also because many people care for you. I told you to stop courting death every single time! Himari, can you—"
"Akito."
When she calls his name, Akito stops himself from talking. She is still smiling, but her voice sounds too cold to his ears. He lowers his head and bites his inner cheeks in frustration. Akito realizes he has crossed his boundaries again.
"My apologies, Miss Himari."
She only hums to answer him. As a result, they now share an awkward silence. After that, Akito restarts the car engine and drives quietly until they reach their destination.
Himari and Akito arrived at the Blue Sunset Villa after a forty-five-minute drive. That villa is where Himari's grandfather, Mr. Kaito Fujimoto, is currently staying. After Akito assists Himari in getting out of the car, a line of men in suits bows in front of her and greets her respectfully. Himari greets them back with a sweet smile before instructing them to stand.
Following a few more greetings, Danny, the villa's butler, offered to show Himari and Akito to Mr. Kaito's room. Danny, a forty-year-old man, has been loyal and trustworthy to the Fujimoto Clan for many years. Akito quietly follows Himari as she happily converses with Danny.
When they arrive in front of a massive door, Danny knocks on it twice and announces that Himari is already waiting outside. A baritone voice responds from within to let her in. Danny opens the door and allows Himari to enter the room first. Inside the large room, two people are waiting for their arrival.
The man sitting on the black sofa is Himari's grandfather, Kaito Fujimoto. He has gray hair and striking chestnut brown eyes. Mr. Kaito, who is now in his sixties, maintains a strong and muscular physique.
And the man standing behind him is Tyronne, Akito's father. Akito's father, like him, serves as Mr. Kaito's right hand man. He also serves as the family's primary doctor. Their family is the Fujimoto clan's closest confidant and most loyal supporters. Akito had decided long ago that he would support Himari, the next head of the Fujimoto clan.
"Hi, grandpa. Hi, Uncle Ron! I'm back!" Himari cheerfully said as she slowly approached them.
"Take a seat first. You don't have to stand there while we are talking." Mr. Kaito said to Himari with a small smile on his face as he pointed to the vacant sofa in front of him.
Himari hums a little and follows her grandfather's instructions. She sits in the middle of the sofa, with Akito standing behind her. Akito saw his father looking at him and nodded to greet him.
"It is been a while since I last saw you, Himari." Are you busy these days?" Mr. Kaito asked.
"Oh, grandpa! You cannot imagine how busy am I these past few weeks. My eyes are getting blurry from reading the reports placed on my desk. My restaurant is also getting more recognition so I need to supervise it all the time. And I mentioned to you before that I became a manager to a black market auction too, right? Aside from handling the Tigers, I am also busy with my business and work as a manager."
"You are really that busy?"
"Yes, grandpa! I am such a pitiful girl, right?"
"Oh." Mr. Kaito slowly said. "You are that busy but you still have time to fool around with that boy from the Dragons?"
In an instant, Himari turn her head to look at Akito. The man behind him pretends he is not aware that she is looking at him.
"Stop blaming him, Himari. I just called him the other day to ask about you."
"I am not blaming him, grandpa. I am simply in awe of his attractive face, which resembles Uncle Ron's."
Tyronne, who is listening to the conversation of his two bosses, can only shake his head in exasperation.
"Himari, you are already an adult. Stop acting like a spoiled girl."
"But you are still my favorite and I am your favorite grandchild, right?"
Mr. Kaito did not say anything. He may be regarded as a strict individual in their family, but he is too soft when it comes to his granddaughter. He motions with his hand for Himari to approach him, and she quickly complies. Seeing this, Himari smiles cheerfully before hugging her grandfather.Download Novelah App
