Celine and Louis were already waiting at the notary's office appointed by Mr. Baviaan Barney. They gathered there to listen to the reading of the will by the lawyer.
"Why don't we just get started?" she said. "We've been waiting here long enough."
The notary cleared his throat. Several times he glanced at the door and also the watch.
"Mr. Axel hasn't come yet. I cannot read this will if all the members concerned are not present."
"He's not coming," cried Louis. "He has given up and realized his position will not be able to get leadership in the company. Axel has failed to fulfil his will."
Someone opens the door. Everyone in the notary's room was shocked. They thought it was Axel who came.
As soon as they saw Carlos enter the room, they breathed a sigh of relief, except for the notary.
"Where is Mr. Axel?" asked the notary.
"Mr. Axel is on his way here. Isn't the deadline for fulfilling the will until midnight tonight?"
The notary was nervous. "Yes, right. We still have about two hours before midnight."
"Should we have waited that long?" Louis and Celine looked so upset.
"I came here only to convey a message from Mr. Axel," said Carlos. "You can read out the will now without Mr Axel present."
"Are you sure?" asked the notary.
Carlos nodded and handed the power of attorney to the notary. "The will can be read at any time, but the deadline for fulfilling the contents of the will must still be met until midnight tonight."
The notary nodded. "I see what you mean."
The notary turned to Celine and Louis.
"As you all know, Mr. Baviaan Barney has two wills intended to determine who will be the legal heir to the company and the successor to the leadership."
"Yes, we already know the contents of the first will. The company and leadership will be handed over to Axel Barney if he is willing to marry Clarissa Jordan. However, that will be thwarted by Axel himself after he broke off the engagement."
