Chapter: "That's Why We're Here"

This is the day that's supposed to be your church wedding with Caleb.
After you read the poem of Caleb, you were determined to fulfill his wish that you will live longer.
That's why you decided to go to the doctor. Dr. Yuri Smith is your friend and you told her to text you what was the result of your laboratory because you can't go back to her clinic.
You will go to Tokyo to live there together with your in-laws and Mom and Dad.
You don't want to live here in your house in Sendai which you inherited from your father.
Though it was filled with wonderful memories this is also the most painful place to stay thus far.
Before you leave this house behind, you went to your favorite part of it which is the garden.
One last time to be enamored by this majestic cherry blossom tree that you love so much.

Hello, Dear. Cheer up! You're pregnant! Come to my clinic tomorrow or any day of this week for your pre-natal check-up.]
You wiped off your tears and look above the sky. It's already dark. "Thank you, Caleb. Our Miles is on the way."
"What did you say, Mom?" Leily asked.
"I told your Dad that I am pregnant, sweetie. You're going to be a big sister now."
Leily wants to clap her hands in excitement but she is carrying Cala, the black cat that her Daddy Caleb gave her.
"Congratulations, Mom. Daddy Caleb truly loves you. When he left us, he gave us his ahm-- representative. Surely, Granny Marga will be in a state of bliss."
"Oh, goodness! Leily, where are you getting those words?"
"Daddy Caleb? I've read a lot of his works."
"Oh. I see. Yes, Caleb loved poetry."
"So, Mom, who is this 'daddy'we are going to meet here? If Daddy Maki can't be with us anymore, by the way, Mom. What's happening now with Daddy Maki? I miss him too."
"He's fine. He's always asking how are you. "
"Does he have a family now?"
"He's living alone."
"Alone. And lonely? Well, I guess he deserves that."
"What are you saying? Where are those words coming from?"
"I've read in your book. You wrote there the life of my two Daddies and yours. Mom, it's beautiful but it's unsatisfying because it's unfinished. When are you going to complete your story?"
"Oh, goodie! Leily. You've said a lot. You're just seven, for goodness sake! You're not supposed to read everything. There are appropriate good reads for an age like yours."
"Ok, but until now, you're not answering my question, who's daddy are we going to meet here?"
"Daddy Caleb." You simply answered.
"But how and why?" Leily seems not to understand., She's so confused.
"This is your Daddy Caleb."
You showed her the urn where the cremated remains of Caleb were secured.
"Oh, I see." Leily seems to understand now. "So, Mom. What are we going to do with Daddy Caleb?"
"We will bury him underneath this cherry blossom tree." You covered his urn with the kimono that he gave you on your birthday.
Your tears are falling down, showering the ground as you dig deeper to bury Caleb's remains beside the urn of Taro.
The two great men of your life are at peace now. You should too.
"That's why we're here." You told Leily.
"So, Mom. As I said, I've read your unfinished book, was Daddy Maki that bad?"
"No, Leily he's not. And that book is fictitious, it's just made by my imagination. You should not take it seriously."
"But it's like a diary. What you wrote there was identical to what's happening in our lives."
You heaved a sigh. Leily is so talkative. She never runs out of words to say.
"Mom, may I ask something?"
"Sure, sweetie. What is it?"
"Why do you think Daddy Maki did that?"
"Did what?" You're nervous about Leily, she seems to understand what has been in your life.
*Love another girl."
So, that's it, Leily knew what her Daddy Maki did. "I don't know, exactly. When you meet, ask him for yourself."
"May I know what revenge means, Mom?" Leily asked again.
"Oh, Leily, you're full of questions that seven-year. olds should not be asking yet."
*I searched it on the internet, and it says, the action of inflicting hurt or harm on someone for an injury or wrong suffered at their hands. Inflict hurt or harm on someone for an injury or wrong done. That's what the dictionary said. I can't understand it."
"What can't you understand there? It was defined clearly."
"The 'the action of inflicting hurt or harm on someone, why would you inflict hurt or harm on someone? It's bad, isn't it? Why would someone wants someone to be in pain?"
You heaved a deep sigh for the nth time. Leily is so amazing. Thankfully her beauty was inherited from her father and she didn't inherit his brain.
"Because by revenge, the person who had inflicted pain upon, got mad and the only thing that could satisfy that person is by hurting too the person who hurt him or her."
"Oh, it's kinda hard to understand. Then for you, Mom, what kind of revenge is the best?"
You thought for a while. She put you into deep thoughts.
"The best revenge is to never revenge at all. Though it's cliche as it seems, it's more than the reality of life. It's beyond the human heart."
Leily took a deep breath. "Whatever, Mom. You are like Daddy Caleb, sometimes I can't understand you. But what you said sounds so cool. I might memorize that."
"Yes, Leily. You should. Remember, in the end, revenge has nothing good to bring in your life."
"Then if that so, it was never an act of revenge at all. Because according to the dictionary, revenge is inflicting pain---"
Leily is so talkative, so you let her talk and talk until she gets tired.
" The best revenge is to never an act of revenge at all... that's beautiful, Mom. I might memorize it, really."
