The moment Jonathan and Stefani arrived at the Hernandez Mansion, Jane greeted them with a big smile and told them Mr. Hernandez had gone to work.
Jonathan quickly went back to his car, with Stefani following behind. "Y-You're not really going to ask my dad about that, right?"
Jonathan just looked at Stefani then started the ignition. There wasn't a time Jonathan did not keep his own words, aside from the times he would forget what he did or said before having a high fever. When he said he wanted to marry and live with Stefani, he was sure as hell and would do anything to make it happen. He might not need anyone's opinion about it, but Stefani's dad's approval on this matter was important for Jonathan. At least, he should get the permission from Stefani's father before doing anything he wanted. It was a sign of respect towards the person who cares about Stefani the most in this life, besides Jonathan.
When they reached the building, all the employees were shocked. Clearly, they did not expect Jonathan to come as they knew their COO was scheduled to travel to Japan today. What was even more surprising was that Jonathan was holding the CEO’s daughter’s, Stefani’s, hand.
"Hey, let go now! People are looking!" Stefani whispered to Jonathan as she received stares and surprised looks from people.
Jonathan, with his poker face, ignored her however as he just pulled her to and in the elevator.
The elevator opened to Mr. Hernandez's floor and another group of employees who were about to step in gasped the moment they saw Jonathan and Stefani.
"S-Sir Jonathan?" One of them called.
"Where's Mr. Hernandez?" Jonathan asked the employees, his hand still holding Stefani's.
One of them blushed as he saw Jonathan and Stefani's hands intertwined. "A-At h-his o-office. H-He's at his office, Sir Gonzalez." It seemed anyone would really feel shocked and embarrassed when you see this couple now.
Actually, it was like a deja vu. Months ago, Stefani was barging in her father's office complaining about her engagement with Jonathan. Now though, the two were standing side by side and even holding each other's hands! Indeed, it was a shocking sight to see.
Ari just left Mr. Hernandez's office and was extremely surprised to see her boss. "Sir?! What are you doing here?"
"Is Mr. Hernandez alone?" Jonathan asked.
Still confused, Ari answered, "Huh? Uh yes, sir. Sir Hernandez is-"
Jonathan did not wait for Ari to finish as he continued to head towards Mr. Hernandez's office while dragging Stefani with him.
"Are you crazy? I said let go!" Stefani whispered again but to no avail.
The moment they reached her father's office, Jonathan tightened his hold onto Stefani's hand. He looked straight at Stefani and smiled. A smile that was too beautiful for Stefani's eyes.
The moment they went in, Stefani’s eyes went wide as she watched Jonathan did the most unexpected thing she had ever thought. Kneeling, Jonathan proclaimed, “I’m not the best person in the world but for Stefani, I would try my best to improve and become the best there is to her life. Mr. Hernandez, I want to marry your daughter. Please allow me to stay next to Stefani. I promise to love her and take care of her for the rest of my life.” Stefani’s eyes glistened in tears. Witnessing how Jonathan himself professed such words to her father, she could not help but move to his side. “What are you doing… Get up, stupid monkey…” Mr. Hernandez looked over the two who were kneeling together as they comforted each other. Jonathan held Stefani’s hand tightly and stubbornly looked up at Mr. Hernandez, waiting for his response. The moment Mr. Hernandez saw this scene, his heart melted like a lava in a chocolate cake. When did these two people grow up like this? Wasn’t it only months ago that they said they never wanted to be engaged? Hiding his smile, Mr. Hernandez gave a serious glance at Jonathan and said, “If you promise me you will give me many grandsons and daughters in the future, then I shall bless you two.” A grin finally formed on the old man’s face. Jonathan almost laughed but still bowed his head and gave his utmost gratitude while Stefani could only bite her lip back and gave a whining response to her teasing father. “Dad!” Jonathan and Stefani. Months ago, they clearly hated each other they declined an arranged marriage as soon as they found out about it. Months ago, they could not imagine how they could exist in the same room together. Now, the complete opposite happened. Behind hate, just what was there? Stefani used to believe she would never find her heart’s silent dream of having a romantic love story, let alone Jonathan be the said person. On this day, however, she felt as if the heavens gave her another life. The person she had hated the most, the person she never dreamt of being with months ago, as it turned out, was the same person she had loved all this time.
Stefani's heart was in full bloom. She was beyond happy she felt like kissing Jonathan there herself. That, of course, she would rather die than do.
