Episode 11.
After locking his door, he gently pulled down his clothes and immediately fell onto the bed with Mary, trying to pull off her shirt. Just for her to immediately wake up and discovered that it was John.
"No! Stop it! What the hell are you doing, John? Are you out of your mind?!" she yelled, struggling to escape his grip.
"Of course not! Your sister was trying to mess with my feelings! She promised me herself, and yet I did not see her here today, so you are going to pay for that crime! She's your twin sister after all."
John's voice was very cold as he tried to pull off her clothes, only for her to immediately kick him in the balls.
"Ugh!" he moaned in agony as he fell onto the bed, trying to recover. Meanwhile, Mary quickly jumped off the bed and opened the door.
"No! You can't get away now!" he yelled, rushing to pull her back. But before he could reach her, she had already opened the door and dashed out of the room.
"No! Oww!" He was still moaning in pain as he took a deep breath and managed to chase after Mary.
As he ran outside the house, everyone stared at him, wondering what was going on. His frantic behavior even scared some people.
How could the celebrant be running after someone who was supposed to be his very close friend? This frightened some onlookers so much that they thought something was chasing him and tried to run away, too.
"What's wrong with you, bro? Are you alright?" one of his friends shouted as he ran after him.
John ignored them, focusing solely on catching up with Mary. But just before he could reach the door, he saw Mary start her car and drive away.
"Damn it! Just damn it!" he muttered in anger, realizing he had invited trouble for himself. He knew he could eventually handle it, but it would not be easy.
"Bro, are you okay?"
A voice interrupted him from behind. He turned to see one of his friends from the birthday party. They were trying to show concern, but instead of responding positively, he yelled at them.
"Get out!! Get out now!! No more party!! Everyone, get out!"
He yelled as he stormed inside, his anger palpable, sending everyone away from the house and scattering some of the decorations that had been set up.
Some guests hesitated, but when they saw the seriousness in his eyes, they began to flee the house, shock etched on their faces. It seemed as though John had truly lost his mind.
After chasing everyone out, he retreated to his room and slammed the door behind him. He ran his hands through his hair, pacing up and down the room in frustration.
He knew he was doomed if Mary opened her mouth and accused him of attempted rape. The questions would arise: what kind of policeman was he, supposed to uphold the law, yet now breaking it? He realized he would end up in jail and lose his job. Whatever he decided to do, he had to act fast—or it would be too late.
• Rose And Mary's Home •
While Mary drove into the compound, she parked her car immediately and hurried inside the house. Just as she was about to enter, she almost collided with Rose at the front door.
"Mary, are you alright? I saw how you drove into the compound; you don’t seem okay," Rose said, concern evident in her voice. The twins always cared deeply for each other. Rose had just been relaxing in the house since after returning from the woods when she heard the sound of a car pulling up, which startled her.
She recognized the sound of Mary’s car and hurried outside to see what might be wrong. As she approached, she noticed that Mary was breathing heavily, as if she had just escaped a terrifying situation.
"Mary, are you okay? What’s chasing you?" Rose asked immediately upon their encounter. Without replying, Mary rushed into the house and took a seat, letting out an exhausted breath.
Rose, eager for an explanation, sat beside her sister. She wondered what could be troubling Mary so deeply. The last she remembered, Mary was supposed to be at John’s birthday party, which was likely still going on late into the night. Many guests might even be staying over at John’s place, so Mary’s sudden return was concerning.
"Rose, what exactly did you promise John?" Mary asked, her voice tense.
Rose couldn't help but wonder why this question would make Mary run home in such a panic, as if someone were after her. The thought frightened her. She realized that John must have told Mary about their earlier conversation.
"What I promised John? How is that supposed to cause you distress? After all, I told you I wasn’t feeling well..."
Rose was still speaking when Mary interrupted her, raising her voice.
"I asked a question! What did you promise John? I almost became a victim of the promise you made and couldn't fulfill!" Mary yelled.
Rose was confused, her expression clearly showing that she didn’t understand what Mary was trying to say.
"I don’t get you, Mary. What are you talking about? Paid for what? Did you even know what I promised him?" Rose asked, realizing that Mary probably didn't know the details of her promise. Perhaps she was ranting because she had issues with John or because he was upset with her for not coming to the party, leading her to believe something untrue.
"I promised him my virginity! That was the promise I made," Rose interrupted, raising her voice as Mary tried to respond.
"Yes, of course you did! That’s why he tried to assault me—because you weren’t there to give it to him as promised. He thought I was your replacement!" Mary exclaimed. Rose was left speechless, staring at her in disbelief.
It sounded more like a fabricated story. The John she knew would never attempt to harm anyone; he was a police officer, for goodness' sake. Hearing Mary say that caused her to smile in disbelief, both unsatisfied and irritated.
"John tried to rape you? You’re lying. You must be joking, right?" Rose said.
"This is no joke! Why would I joke about something like this when I know how much you loved him?" Mary replied.
"He is a police officer! That means he’s trustworthy!" Rose insisted.
"He could be a monster too! Being an officer doesn’t make him righteous! Just be careful with the promises you make to monsters next time; you could end up promising to someone who might kill us all!" Mary shouted as she stood up, ready to retreat to her room.
Mary gently approached Rose.
"I'm glad you didn't go to that party! I could see it in John's eyes and hear it in his voice—he never loved you. He was with you all this time because he wanted to take your last bit of dignity, which is your virginity. I doubt he would have stayed any longer after getting it. He was so desperate to have you that he even tried to force himself on me. I was lucky to escape. Promise me you'll stay away from him."
Mary's words left Rose in shock. She's really serious about this.
She couldn't yet directly respond to that statement from her twin sister; she was still so surprised to hear that John tried to rape her twin sister! It's just unimaginable for her to believe.
Imagine what could have happened if she had gone to that party. John could have taken advantage of her, satisfied his desires, and then dumped her. At this moment, she could thank her illness—no, she could thank Sam. If it weren't for him, she might have fallen victim to that monster.
"Thank you, sister, for the advice. I will take it to heart, but I still can't believe John would be that monstrous. I trusted him," Rose said as her sister hugged her.
"It's okay, dear. That's not what we should be talking about right now. We just uncovered his secret, and he will come after us. I don’t know how this will end," Mary replied, and she was right.
It was certain that he would come after them, and they needed to keep themselves safe. They had no one else to rely on, so how would they look after each other?Download Novelah App
