Episode 10.
"You know what you’re asking for isn’t possible. If you stay here, your sister will start looking for you, and that puts my safety at risk," Sam said, aware that he was doing all this to protect his identity.
He wasn't staying here because he enjoyed solitude; he was here because he had no choice. He didn't want anything to ruin his plans, just as Adam had done.
"Okay, I understand. But please, can I still visit whenever I want? Can I see you more often?" she requested, and he hesitated.
Allowing her to visit was another tough and dangerous decision. One day, they might track her down to this place, and if that happened, he would have nowhere to hide.
He knew that telling her not to come was like trying to melt a stone by watering it. She would insist on visiting again, which would increase the risk to his life. So, it might be better to approve her visits. At least this way, he could be the one to pick her up and ensure no one was following closely behind.
"Alright, you’re free to visit whenever you like. But please always let me know when you’re coming, so I can wait for you. You shouldn't risk coming here alone again," he offered, and she smiled happily, hugging him.
A mix of feelings surged within him from that quick hug. There was something about this girl that he still needed to discover. He didn’t know much yet, but he could feel himself falling deeper for her each day.
"Thank you so much," she said.
"You’re welcome. But when will you come again?" he asked. She shrugged her shoulders as she washed her hands and grabbed a meat lap.
"I’ll let you know, but I need to eat first," she replied, and they both smiled at each other.
"Hmm, this is so delicious! You’re really good at this," she acknowledged, and he smiled back, watching her eat.
She was incredibly cute, a beauty unlike any he had ever seen before. He was already falling for her, but he knew what had happened between her and Aria. If he didn’t want the same fate to befall this beautiful soul, he had to do his best to stay away from her.
He could see how much he had ruined Ariana's life, knowing he would never return to that house to find her, even though she begged him to come back. Every time he remembered that night, something urged him to search for her.
But then he recalled how he had been shot multiple times. He realized he couldn’t go rescue her; doing so would mean his death. He had been lucky the last time he was shot, just as the full moon was rising. When his wolf form took over, he was able to heal again. This showed him that his wolf was his only chance to rescue Ariana. However, the truth remained: whenever he transformed into a wolf, he lost control of himself to the wolf, making it difficult for him to save her.
It was sad to think there was nothing he could do for Aria. All he could wish for was that she managed to make her way in the world, no matter how tough it seemed. Maybe one day, she would be saved, one way or another.
"You're not eating?"
Rose's voice pulled him out of his thoughts. He looked at her and smiled.
"Of course I will eat! I was just getting ready," he replied, grabbing a piece of meat and starting to eat.
The truth was, his mind was never at rest. It constantly called him to go to war and rescue Ariana, which made it difficult for him to connect with the angel sitting in front of him. It felt like abandoning a friend in trouble and trying to get along with someone new, which didn’t seem fair.
• Rose's Home •
John drove into the compound with his luxurious supercar. It was the kind of car that made heads turn, and you could tell it cost millions. Anyone who saw him with such a vehicle would naturally question the source of his wealth. It seemed amusing to think that John was just a police general, yet he possessed such a staggering amount of money.
Where else could he have obtained such riches? No one dared to confront him about it; all they cared about was his money, wanting him to share and flaunt it with them.
As he maneuvered through the compound, he halted his car, stepped out gracefully, and made his way to the house. He knocked repeatedly but received no response.
“Hello, is anyone home?” he shouted, continuing to knock on the door. With no answer, and seeing that the door was slightly ajar, he decided to step inside.
It was possible that Rose was inside, too unwell to respond. Even though he didn’t truly care about the severity of her illness, his mind was set on one thing: convincing her to get into bed with him, tasting her virginity, and then leaving. That would be the end of their story.
Once inside, the atmosphere felt eerily quiet and calm. He glanced around the room, gently shutting the door and locking it behind him.
“Hello! Roseline? Are you home?” he called out again, but still received no reply. His expression shifted as it became clear that no one was there.
From the looks of it, there was no sign of Roseline, and he began searching the rooms, hoping to find her.
"Damn it! She's a blatant liar! She lied about not being okay just to leave, right? Oh, I see! She doesn't want to fulfill her promise... that's why she tricked me," he muttered to himself as he quickly picked up his phone.
"I think she was only joking with me, or maybe she went to my house before I arrived because the Rose I know..." he doubted, quickly dialing Rose's number, but it wasn't connecting as usual.
He paused, agitation swirling in his mind. As much as he didn't want to believe it, he could feel himself starting to accept it. Rose had blocked his number so he couldn't reach her, but he still thought maybe there was another explanation.
Without hesitation, he called Mary to check if Rose was with her.
He dialed Mary's number, and it rang, but she didn't pick up. He called several times, but there was no answer. A smile crept onto his face as he hurried to his car, feeling excited to go home. This was exactly how Rose used to play tricks on him; he understood that she was likely waiting for him at home.
So, without much thought, he jumped into his car and drove home.
Upon arriving, he rushed inside, where he found some of his friends—both boys and girls—who had come over before he left. They all greeted him, but he wasn't excited to see any of them.
He searched for Rose and Mary but couldn't find them. He asked some of their friends, and they claimed not to have seen her either. It hit him then: Rose was just running away from him. He felt a pang of disappointment; today didn't feel like his day anymore.
"She thinks she can mess with anyone. I'll deal with her later, she can run for how she want now, I will find her" he muttered to himself, frustration boiling inside him. Weakened and in need of rest, he decided to retreat to his room and relax while contemplating his next move against Rose.
When he opened the door, he was surprised to find Mary lying on his bed. He moved closer and realized she had fallen asleep, which explained why she hadn't answered his calls.
A hopeful smile spread across his face. Since he couldn't have Rose, he could have Mary instead. With that thought, he quietly shut the door and licked his lips, feeling a surge of anticipation.
