Episode 16.
• At The Forest •
It was getting dark quickly, and tonight there would be a full moon. Sam was about to transform into a monster once the moon rose, and Roseline was with him. He had to find a way to stop himself from turning, or else the innocent girl might get hurt.
By now, Sam should have been out hunting, as it was still early in the evening—probably around 7 PM. The full moon would rise at midnight. He had planned to hunt for meat, but knowing how things would turn out, he had already hunted a lot during the day and had prepared it.
Right now, he was making torches inside the house with some wood, ensuring they would be very bright. He was also busy sealing up any holes in the wooden building. He needed to make sure that no moonlight could enter the house because his wolf would emerge at the sight of it.
While he worked diligently, Roseline watched him quietly, not fully understanding what he was doing. She gazed at him, concerned about how serious he seemed.
As time passed, Roseline grew worried. It was getting late, and he was still focused on his task. She wondered why he was so serious and what he was up to. All she could think was that he should have been resting instead of working on his wooden house at this hour.
"Hey... what exactly are you doing? Shouldn't you take a break and finish this tomorrow?" Roseline asked as she approached him, her eyes searching his face for answers.
"No, I need to do this tonight. Nights like this can be dangerous. There are many wild creatures out there, and we must ensure they don’t see our torches. That’s why I have to seal every hole in this house," he replied.
Roseline gazed at him, feeling a little scared. Little things often frightened her, and Sam’s serious demeanor only added to her unease.
"Okay, then how can I help? There must be something I can do, right?" she asked.
Sam silently picked up a piece of wood from the corner and nailed it to the wall. He set his hammer aside and let out a sigh of relief, placing his hands on his waist as he looked at Roseline.
"You don’t need to help anymore. As you can see, the work is done," he said, blinking at her, both of them sharing a small smile. Their gazes locked, and a deep affection sparked between them, but they were both waiting to see who would make the first move.
"Alright then... time for dinner," Sam said as he moved to the corner where he kept his delicious meat dishes. The enticing aroma filled Roseline's nose, and she didn’t wait to be invited to sit; she joined him at the table.
"Today’s meal smells even better than the last one," Roseline whispered, and he smiled slightly at her.
"Of course it does! My cooking gets better every day, just like me," he replied as he sat down, picked up a piece of meat, and began to eat. Roseline joined him.
They ate in silence for a while until Roseline looked up at him.
"You promised to tell me why those people are after you. You promised we would talk about it," she reminded him. He nodded, placing the piece of meat he was eating back on the wooden plate.
"Yes, I did. You also promised me something," he said.
"Oh yes, I did. I came here because a friend threatened me. He was serious about it; he wanted to burn me and lock me up. My sister said she would help me, but I’m not as strong as she is. I’m scared, and I think I’ll be safer down here," she explained. Sam stared at her for a few seconds, taking a deep breath.
"What did you do to him that made him want to harm you?" he asked.
Roseline took a deep breath. She knew she had to tell him the truth, but trust was at stake. She had heard him talk about being afraid to trust people, and she wanted him to trust her. But how could he trust her if he discovered later that everything she told him was a lie? It was better to be honest.
"Well, he said that I promised him my virginity on his birthday, but I didn't keep that promise, so he wanted to rape me..." She was still speaking when Sam interrupted her.
"Did you promise him that?" he asked. She hesitated for a moment, gazing at the floor. Then she looked back at Sam, swallowed hard, and glanced down again before finally nodding her head.
"Yes, I did, but I thought I was in love with him," she replied.
"So why then did you refuse to comply as you had promised?" he asked as they were left staring at each other; it seemed like he was trying to trick some words out of her mouth.
Of course, he was supposed to know the answer to that question he asked. He was the reason she could no longer comply because she was now so much in love with him. She wanted him to have her virginity in his hands without having to make any promises. As they gazed deeply into each other's eyes, Rose swallowed hard. She opened her mouth to speak but couldn't find the words.
It felt like something had caught in her throat as she looked at Sam’s handsome face once again. All she could see in his expression was love, so she felt free to tell him the truth, knowing he was in love with her too.
"It's... It's because..."
"Me?" he interrupted, not allowing her to finish her sentence. Her heart pounded with happiness; he knew she was already deeply in love with him.
"Tell me, is it because of me?" he asked as he stepped closer. Their eyes locked, and Sam placed his hands on her cheeks, sending a jolt of electricity through her.
"Yes! Yes, Sam! It's because of you that I can no longer be with him, and I can't go on with that promise," she responded, gazing silently into his eyes. She could feel his heavy breath against her nose—both cool and warm—and his hand running across her face made her tremble.
"Why?" he asked gently.
"I don't know, but since the day I saw you, I fell in love with you. There's this feeling that..." She was still speaking when Sam silenced her with a deep kiss.
"It's okay," he whispered as he kissed her even more passionately. She wrapped her arms around his head, kissing him as if he were the most delicious food. It was a passionate kiss, as she began unbuttoning his trousers while still lost in the kiss.
"I just want you to be mine and mine alone, forever, I love you Sam" She whispered in his ear as she went back to a passionate kiss with him.
• John's Home •
John was at home, eagerly awaiting the arrival of a visitor he had invited. She was supposed to be here by now, and it was getting late.
“Come on,” he thought. He needed this girl to help relieve the pressure he had been feeling. It had been a long time since he had been with a woman, all because of Rose. Now, the one he had invited didn’t seem to be coming. She hadn’t called to say she was on her way, but it wasn’t too late yet—he was still hopeful and waiting for her.Download Novelah App
