Claire POV~
I head directly to class today. Because I actually came in late just a minute before the bell rings.
When I got into the class, a lot of people where already seated.
“Good morning!”. I greeted Alissa and her cousins and before any of them could reply, the teacher entered into the class.
Soon it was break time and I had no choice but to follow Alissa and cousins to lunch since I promise her that I will. I am actually anxious. Since people use to look at their table all the time, I am actually sure that everyone will talk. I don’t have energy to deal with that.
“Alissa!”. I drew her to the side once we reached the door of the cafeteria. She beacon on Ivory and the other ms to go in without us.
“What is it?”. Alissa asked me.
“I don’t I should seat with you guys!”. I breathed out.
“And why is that?”. Alissa asked keeping a neutral face. I am not quite sure if she is angry or not because she is keeping her face neutral.
“Well. Everyone is going to talk! I honestly..”
“And so let them talk. After all that is what some of them seems to be good at. Let them talk Claire. No matter what they say, it’s not going to change who you truly are. And the truth is no matter what you do and how much you try to please people, they are always going to have something to say against you. You need to develop a back bone and ignore what they say about you. And always remember that for the fact that people take their time to talk about you, that means you are special and more important than them.” Alissa concluded her speech.
Wow! Just wow! Her words gave me just the boast of confidence I need.
“Thank you Alissa. I am not just use to being the center of attention”. I explained to her.
“I understand but there are times we need to get out of our comfort zone for us to grow in life. So now, I want you to take a deep breath and let’s go in there and saw them how unaffected you are by theirs words and stares”. Alissa stated. I did as she commanded and took in a deep breath.
“Let’s go!”. Alissa said as and entered into the cafeteria. I followed behind her with my breath held.
Almost every in the cafeteria turned to look at us as we pass by. I saw the look of shook on Ashley and her friends face as we pass their table. I could hear people whispering among themselves but I did not bother at all. After what seems like forever, we arrived at the Avila’s table. I finally let out the breath I was holding all this while.
“Good to see!”. A very familiar voice whispered to me. I turned to my right I noticed that Xander is seating right next to me.
“Good to see you too!.” I whispered back at him.
“So guys. I don’t think I have officially introduced Claire to you all. Guys this is Claire and Claire this are the members of my family”. Alissa introduced me to everyone on the table.
“Nice to finally officially meet you Claire.” The guy sitting next to Alissa said. He has his hands wrapped around her waist as if he is her boyfriend. I frown at the thought of that. Are they not supposed to be cousins? There are actually weird things about them like how they are supposed to be cousins but non of them look alike even a bit expect for Xander and Alissa. Well it’s non of my business what they are to each other.
Turns out they have a different menu than the rest of the school members. Today on the menu is sea food. I am actually very glad because since I moved from Australia, I don’t think I eat sea food at all. Mum don’t know how to make it and so we usually eat out when we are craving any kind of seafood.
“You must either be hungry or just enjoy eating seafood.” Xander commented. I sheepishly smiled at him. I look at my pale and notice that all most everything on the plate is gone while the rest of them are eating theirs in a gentle manner.
“Just great Claire. Just on the first day of the meal with them, I have conceive them that I am a mannerless glutton”. I mentally scold myself.
“I love seafood!.” I replied him and drop my fork.
“Nice!” Xander said. I look at his own plate and notice that he has not even touch his food.
“Aren’t you hungry? You ah e not touch your food” I asked him.
“Yes. I am still heavy from breakfast!.” Xander responded. We both kept quite until the end of lunch time.
After lunch, Alissa, ivory and I head to the sport locker room in other change into our sport wears.
Our PH teacher shared us into groups and asked us to play hand ball. The guys play theirs at the side while we the girls play separately. I am put in the same team as Alissa while Ashley and her friends are in the other team.
As we play the game, I noticed that some of Ashley friends kept hitting the ball towards me intentionally. So far, I have dodged every of their throws but I don’t know for long I will do that.
Out of no where, a ball hit me directly on my stomach. I felt them laugh and handshake each other.
“So and take a rest, I will replace you!.” Alissa said to me. I went and sat at the bleachers next to Ivory.
“Are you okay?.” Ivory asked me.
“Yes I am good!.” I press my hand over my stomach as I try to feel in there is pain anywhere. Luckily enough for me, the person that threw the ball did it with a strength of a girl so there is no injury at all.
“Just seat and watch, Alissa will avenge you!.” Ivory stated.
As soon the ball stared again. Alissa hit the ball directly to Becky stomach. Becky held unto her stomach screaming as she fell down. She most have been the one who threw the ball at me.
“O my bad!.” Alissa said not looking sorry at all.
Becky screams attracted the attention of the coach who was at the boys section.
“What happened here?.” The coach asked.
“The ball mistakenly hit Becky’s stomach while we where playing!.” A girl stated.
“Yes coach!.” Another girl said.
“Okay. Someone should escort Becky to the clinic to have a scan while the rest of you can go after all we have just five more minutes.” The coach dismissed us.
“Thank you!”. I said to Alissa once we are in the locker room.
“No problem!.”
“After all no one mess with my family”. Alissa said the last part to herself but I heard anyway. I didn’t understand what she meant by that part at all.
