"Isn't this enough for an after-party?" Lucian finally said that brought senses back to the onlookers.
The soldiers collected the body of the viceroy that's barely hanging on his life.
"The two of you should go home first before we talk. For the meantime, I'll finish my task here." And he threw a quick glance to his side that sent shivers to the soldier who met it.
"Where are you going?" Kayne asked when he caught sight of Koiren following him.
"Home, of course."
"I know that you want me to drop you off but your home is in the opposite direction."
Kayne's face twitched when Koiren made an obviously pathetic copy of a shocked reaction.
"Pretty boy, aren't you informed? We're living in the same place. I already told you, I am under Lucian's care."
How did it happen?
On his mind, Kayne made a quick review on the events that happened within the few days he's staying inside Lucian's residence. What he remembered are only three places: the garden, his bedroom and the dining table.
Outside, it is clear that the place is very spacious, enough to have a number of rooms. However, Kayne's attention was entirely spent on the task assigned to him that he forgot to inquire about other things regarding his environment.
"Isn't this cohabitation, pretty boy?"
"Shut up."
Koiren laughed it off and patted his shoulder. "Seriously, hahaha. Why can't you let your guard down around me."
Kayne stepped inside the carriage waiting for them with annoyance followed by Peony who maintains her silence in Kayne's shadow.
"Are you going to join us or not?" Kayne brusquely asked Koiren when they're already seated while the latter keeps stalling around the vehicle.
"Ah! No. I almost forgot that I still have personal matters to settle here. I'll just tag along with Lucian. " Koiren exclaimed.
"Works for me."
After the attendants ascertained that the young master had no more business to deal with, the carriage set off back to Lucian's mansion.
The darkness of the night shaded the purity of the mansion's color and made it into a ghastly one. Compared to when it is basking under the sunshine, ghosts are more likely to appear in the place than humans.
"Why is it so dark?" Kayne buzzed pertaining to the lack of lighting inside the mansion. Contrary to the blinding lights and colors of the Den, the place is too dark and gloomy to walk in.
"It's because of our Young Master Sai's constitution, Young Master Kayne," the attendant filled him in. "Only the rooms that don't let lights come out have their lights on and that includes the room you're staying in."
"Understood." Kayne acknowledged the situation. "I presume you don't want me to pry any further about the subject."
"We dare not, young master. In point of fact, Master Lucian welcomes any question having to do with his child."
Kayne gave up thinking and groaned. "But I won't." The subject matter looks too serious and he has no inclination in stepping in other's privacy. "Can you see in the dark," he asked Peony, turning away from the topic.
Peony answered with yes and the two of them entered the mansion.
For Kayne who practiced merging his mana with the air, he had no struggle navigating in any place. He spread out his mana and took a grasp of the layout of his surroundings.
Even so, his brief moment of inattention led him to his bad luck.
From the hanging chandelier, a sleeping black dragon fell into Kayne's head after it shifted its body unknowingly.
The dragon woke up from the sudden fall and tears
begin to drop from its eyes. Yet it is still not the worst, the mana became erratic and the ground trembled.
Kayne could not utter a word as the series of bizarre events continued to unfold. The lights that were turned on and off until it exploded as well as the glass windows that shook with every vibration created on the ground.
It's the dragon's fault. Its mana that's going haywire affects the surrounding mana that causes the confusion. In addition to that, Kayne's dense mana that is enveloped within the surrounding is also mixed in. With three opposing powers bouncing each other, the disaster occured.
In spite of that, Kayne has no solution to ease the situation. He can't simply pull in again what he used to merge with the air lest it will bring more disaster to the household if he's the one that will go on rampage.
"Sa-yee!" Lucian's second child, Sera, called to the dragon. She's being held by her mother, Elina, in her arms and is protected by a thick barrier that illuminates the two. "Sa-yee! Sa-yee!," she repeated.
She jumped off from Elina's embrace and walked peacefully towards the tearing dragon while still enclosed in a barrier that looks like being produced from the necklace they were wearing; Elina and her.
"Sa-yee..." the little girl touched the dragon's head and the turmoil ended almost immediately like a cold wind blown in the middle of a desert.
"It's owayt," she assured the dragon with a smile.
