The room they were living in remains the same. The clutter he made during the first day Rigel went out to fulfill the request are still there. The pen he's searching for is on the corner of the chesterfield. Only the accumulated dust were added to the place, making the happening from months and days ago feel like yesterday on Kayne's memory.
He started cleaning the place by restoring it like how it was before his father left. The reason why he can heal and restore wasn't because he has two separate abilities. In reality, he's reversing the time for the objects that require restoration, giving him the skill to grow back a severed leg. That's why he decided to turn the clock's hand in this place. He badly wanted to see Rigel sitting comfortably there while telling him to put his mana under control.
But before it was completed, Kayne coughed out blood.
"What a ridiculous thing to try," it said inside his head.
"You know that tampering with events and one's fate will eventually kill you, why do you keep trying it?"
"Shut up!" Kayne cried to it. He pressed his head so hard to silence the being crowding his head.
"You'll only lose your life in vain."
"I said shut up! Shut up! Shut up!"
The young lad banged his head on the floor repeatedly until it bled.
"You can't shut me up nor kick me out," the voice continued to tease.
Kayne banged his head once more on the floor with a harder force, causing him to collapse and fall unconscious on the floor.
Bleeding too much from the injury, "It" temporarily took over his body and abilities like an automatic pilot of the lad's body.
"Why are you making this hard for me?," the being complained. "I am so done fixing you everytime you mess with your body."
Using Kayne's ability, he turned the lad's body into its state before the injury. It stood up and tried the hands and feet as if it's the most foreign object to it.
Wiping the blood residue on Kayne's face, It walked towards the large mirror in the room and made several poses in front of it.
"How long are you going to sleep this time? Can I take this body for a moment? What should I call myself? Hmm...since you're Kayne Fenriz and use Kayne, I'll just go with Fenriz and Riz would be how I'll introduce myself."
It —Riz rather, made a smug look at the mirror. He leaned closer to the mirror and squinted his eye, examining the left and right side of Kayne's face. "Your face isn't bad either. But I am more good looking."
Riz clicked his tongue when he realized that he picked up the weird kid's habit of complimenting himself. If he remembers it correctly, that weird kid's name is Koiren.
"You should pick your friends a little bit more carefully from now on." Riz reminded his body. "Since I am here, excuse me for using your body. I have something to research."
The being inside Kayne put eyeglasses on his face and changed his outfit into a better one. "This is good, I feel like living again." He stopped on his monologue and thought deeply. "Living again, what a weird thing to say."
Riz heads out to the imperial library, surprising the staff and students there. A gush of murmurs filled the silent library.
"That's Kayne, right? The monster child."
"He's back here? Maybe he's the reason for the killings that are happening now. A son of a monster is also a monster."
"Glad that that monstrous Rigel is already dead. I heard from my dad that if he wishes to annihilate a country, he could easily do so."
"What? That's horrifying. But we can't deny his strength as a Neo."
"My god, what is that rubbish doing here?"
Riz chuckled at the incompetents who are opening their mouths right now. "Be thankful I am the one in here and not Kayne," he said between the trapped laughter. If Kayne was the one who'll hear these rumors, Yothopyia Institute would surely fall into chaos and all of you will be wiping your sorry asses.
He browsed through the oldest books on display and searched for the incident that happened 200 years ago, the "Tragedy of Erasmus".
"This...this..." Riz could not hide the vicious smile on his face.
Although Kayne stayed at the library before, this is Riz's first time to read these particular books and stories.
Two hundred years had already passed yet he had the memories of what happened then fresh inside his mind.
"A curse, hah! They're making things funny." Riz said with bitterness.
That wasn't a curse nor an innate ability going havoc. It is a failed attempt of the Erasmus Family in obtaining the world.
