Chapter 29 Back to Yothopyia

"Kayne, my son!" Nathaira welcomed them back to the institute with a hug.
When she heard that Kayne would be coming back to the institute, she couldn't contain her excitement and prepared a banner for them at the institute's entrance. She also asked the path to be decorated with flowers and petals showered on them.
During Koiren's detailing of what Nathaira did at the front of the academy to the headmaster, Reileigh Stanz' laugh filled the room.
"And then she jumped to Kayne and called him her son. But the pretty boy is more delicate than he seems. Both of them tumbled down from that hug and the crowd stopped their cheers to look at them sympathetically." Koiren continued with clumsy body language to emphasize the comic of the story.
Nathaira buried her face in her palms in embarrassment. The back of her neck along with her ears, hands and face turned red like a ripe tomato and you can see her burning up each time Koiren adds more detail in the story.
"That's it, Headmaster. We are tasked by Sir Lucian to help you in the investigation. Kayne and I. Until we're done here, we'll be staying as researchers from Rhaegal."
"Ay, ay...I still felt reluctant when Luke asked me to hand over his grandson to him but seeing how that meek child grew as a person, I felt relieved. It's just a shame that I haven't seen him in action yet. He missed the assessment exams after all. By the way, where is he?"
Nathaira took a peek at the headmaster and hid again her troubled face this time.
Koiren cleared his throat by faking a cough to ease the heavy atmosphere before answering.
"He went back to the dorms and said that he'll be staying there."
The headmaster who understood the situation did not ask more questions about Kayne's stay at the dorm. "Technically, they still own that space. That being the case, I have no qualms on his decision."
Koiren and Nathaira agreed to him and before long, Koiren raised another question that intrigued the other two.
"By any chance, do you think pretty boy have...how to say this? Different personalities? Ah! Don't mind me, I am only mumbling nonsense here. It's just..."
"It is fine." Reileigh Stanz stepped in. He once caught a glimpse on Kayne's smiling face, enjoying his berserking mana but he only let it pass as a natural reaction of excitement. But it seems not too simple like that. He have no idea what are Koiren's basis to assume that Kayne have multiple personalities but he'll keep that 'opinion' in mind for now.
The headmaster recalls Kayne as a frail child the first time he met him. While Rigel reads on his students' reports, Kayne is beside him, continuously breaking magical devices that normally cost a fortune each piece.
"What is it this time, Headmaster Stanz?," Rigel asked him after he felt the particular presence.
"Ho, why are you such a cautious old child?"
Rigel glared at him. You can clearly tell from his eyes that he hated the old man's presence in his private space.
"Is that the child?," Reileigh asked, switching his gaze to the child who is too focused on the task given to him. "Name?," he asked when the child finally looked at him after an hour.
Inside, he's already boiling in rage and impatience, seeing that his previous student is totally ignoring him. 'This old child, how could he treat me like this,' he bawled out inside his head.
"K-kayne Fenriz R-regulus," the child answered, stumbling on his own name.
Kayne's eyes that time looked extremely gloomy to become the eyes belonging to a child with a full life ahead of him. His face was flushed red from lack of confidence and hands were trembling from uneasiness.
"Get lost." Rigel scolded the headmaster. "You're bothering my son."
My son?
The headmaster's face brightens when he hears Rigel refer to the child as his son. Does this stone-cold student of his truly recognize the child as his?

Though Rigel was unabashed on his words, his previous tutor still wants to tease him more.
Reileigh walked to the old child and started poking him on his cheeks. "Ay...ay...what to do with this old child?" he teased as he continuously played on Rigel's cheeks.
On the flip side, Rigel's grip on the pen hardens as he contains his emotion and tries not to hurt the headmaster.
Reileigh, who's enjoying the mental torture to Rigel smiled at Kayne that is staring at both of them.
'He must be thinking why can I do this to his father.' Reileigh convinced himself as he observed the amusement on Kayne's face.
"Father..."
"Ho?" Reileigh's curiosity just reached another level when he heard Kayne call Rigel as father. His eyes glistened and poked at Rigel's cheeks harder until Rigel snapped and twisted the headmaster's hand poking at him.
"I had enough. Stop lurking around here." Rigel voiced firmly.
The headmaster, though still enjoying himself, decided to step back for the meantime. He can see Rigel's eyes furious at him and Kayne's interest in Rigel. He's assuming that whatever Rigel does, Kayne would take it almost like God's deed or word. That's why a negative impression would be bad for the first time.
Before leaving he patted Kayne's head and poked his cheeks. Reileigh Stanz laughed at the surprised expression on Kayne's face and waved to them goodbye.
"I'll see you both later," he said.

Just finished watching 25 eps. on Amazon Prime and the last 5 on Youtube because I couldn't wait. Both main casts are so lovely and did an awesome job. This is the second time I watched Zheng Ye Cheng as one of the main leads. I couldn't get over the 'An Oriental Odyssey' because he has a cute smile and very soothing voice. I hope that I can see both main leads in more future c-dramas. Highly recommend it. 11 people found this helpful. Just finished watching 25 eps. on Amazon Prime and the las
