Chapter 58: With Jeremiah
"Move closer, faster!" Venn shouted in the middle of our video. "Aisshh! I trust you on this, but do we really need this scene?" he complained, an eyebrow raised in discomfort. "Trust me! You look good together, even if there’s no love in your marriage yet. I hope that soon, you’ll develop feelings for each other. So your marriage will work, and before you know it, I'll have twelve nieces! WAHAHAHAHA! OMG! I'm so EXCITED! YIIEEE!" There was a playful teasing in her voice that made Venn roll his eyes in disdain. "Shut up, Kythe! Just continue with what you’re doing. I have a date with my girlfriend after this," Venn snapped, irritation clear in his tone. I was left speechless, guys! Of all people, he gets to have a date, but when it comes to me, it feels like it's forbidden? Ugh, give me a break! "I DON’T WANT THAT SCENE! NO, THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!" Venn shouted, storming out of the room. "I'm sorry! I guess my breath is stinky, and that's why he doesn't want to kiss me! Kidding! WAHAHAHA! He's got a girlfriend, so of course he won't want to kiss, especially since we're classmates," I apologized to Kythe with a sad smile. "I know, but they won't last. Aunty and Uncle will get mad if they find out he has a mistress, so why are you allowing it? You're married, and one of them is a mistress! You have more rights here, just be prepared for me tomorrow. Trust me!" Kythe said, grinning and giving me a wink that felt suspicious. "Thanks for being so nice. Oh, I haven't introduced myself! I'm Rhajie Chian Nefarious Tonacci. You can just call me Rhaj," I introduced myself with a smile. "Of course! You're part of our family, so don’t be shy. Tomorrow you'll find out what’s going to happen. As for the video, I’ll just edit it and send it via email. I have to go; my things aren’t set yet. Nice meeting you!" she said, leaning in to give me a kiss on the cheek as a farewell. Once she left, I rushed to my room and changed into my jogging pants and sports bra. I felt like going jogging! WAHAHAHA! I grabbed my earphones and phone to play some music. I stepped out of the house and started jogging toward the park. The number of people around was sparse since it was already 4:30 PM, and the chill in the air was noticeable (the same chill as your conversations, WAHAHAHA, just kidding!). I saw some kids playing and families having picnics. Oh, how I miss my mom. "Ouch!" I cried out as I stumbled over a rock. Honestly, my mind was flying all over the place, and just a rock caused me pain. I wish my heart were as tough as that rock so that I wouldn't feel this way. "M-Miss, are you okay?" I looked up to see someone extending a hand to help me up. "J-Jeremiah?" I said, surprised to see him. "What are you doing here? Is your house nearby?" he asked, looking curious. "Y-Yeah, it is. How about you?" I replied, still processing. "Yup, I’m a model at Zen in Primeville." My stomach flipped nervously; that place was close to my home. "A-Ah, is that so? I model at Min," I shyly responded. "Is it just you alone? Do you want me to walk with you? I have Bash with me," he referred to his dog. "Sure! You love dogs, how cute! Hello, Bash!" I said, reaching down to pet the dog. As we walked closer to the park gate, he stopped and looked at me while draping his jacket over my shoulders. "It's cold; you’ll get sick if you refuse my offer." He smiled warmly. "Y-Yeah, thanks! Um, let’s head to the convenience store; it’s my treat," I replied, feeling grateful and eager. "HUWAW! Really? All of that?" I exclaimed as he put the items on the counter. He had a gallon of ice cream, two hotdog sandwiches, two liters of soda, and five bars of Cadbury Dairy Milk. This is too much! I only had 500 pesos because I had already bought tempura and a ham sandwich, plus a Vitamilk. "Yes, HAHAHA! Don’t worry; it's my treat," he said, winking at me. "I said it was my treat, though," I insisted, pouting slightly. "I'm not going to let a girl pay for herself," he said, smiling. After he paid, we chose a dining table and set down our order on it. There was so much food; could we even finish this? My goodness! We ate in silence, and I was surprised when he took one of my earphones and put it in. "You have good taste in music! I didn't know you liked 5 Seconds of Summer," he said while opening the ice cream. "Yes! I actually love A Rocket to the Moon, Stevie Hoang, 5SOS, Budakhel, FM Static, and many more," I replied cheerfully as I scooped some ice cream. We shared the ice cream since there was plenty, and it would be nice to not waste food. "Ate, can I have some, please? My brother and I are so hungry," a little boy asked me, looking up with wide eyes. "Is it okay if we give our leftovers to them? Don’t worry, tomorrow at school, I'll treat you again," I suggested shyly to Jeremiah. To my delight, he nodded in agreement. We left all the food we had wanted for ourselves to the two kids and exited the convenience store. "It’s getting late; should I walk you home?" he asked, and I nodded. As we walked, my favorite song, "Baby, We’re Invincible," was playing. Jeremiah still had one earphone in. "Oh, just here; thanks for everything," I said sweetly as we reached my gate. "It's my pleasure, Rhaj! Goodnight! See you at school tomorrow, okay?" He smiled at me, and I nodded back, feeling my heart flutter. "Go on inside," I said. "Okay, bye, Bash!" I waved at his dog. Turning back to Jeremiah, I smiled again before slipping inside. "Where have you been?" Venn asked with a raised eyebrow, arms crossed while slouched on the sofa. "I went jogging. Is it not obvious?" I retorted sharply, taking off my shoes to put them in the shoe rack. "Really? Because I saw you at the gate with Jeremiah. So tell me, what did you do?" he shot back, probing me with his question. "You don’t care about that. Mind your own business; you had a date earlier, right? I didn’t ask where you went, so I would appreciate it if you’d just allow me to keep what I did private," I exclaimed angrily as I headed upstairs. How irritating! He acts like he has all the right to interrogate me, but he’s the one with a mistress! And yet I'm the one who ends up appearing like I’m the one in the wrong. So annoying! "Can we talk?" The sudden knock on my door made me jump up from my bed and stare at the entrance. "Hey!" Venn called out, knocking again on the door. "I'm tired; can we talk tomorrow?" I shouted back. "I want to talk now; this is important, so please cooperate," he insisted, knocking yet again. "AISHH!" Frustrated, I took off my jacket and threw on a shirt. Wait! I forgot to return Jeremiah's jacket! Ugh! Whatever; I'll just see him at school tomorrow. I opened the door, revealing Venn’s annoyed expression. "We broke up." OWEMGEEE! IS THAT TRUE?
