Chapter 77: The Microchip or Ship?
**RHAJIE POV**
Unbeknownst to Venn, everything was already arranged, and the bullets? They were fake. I had prepared this for him.
Earlier, as I was packing my belongings, a sudden headache struck. Memories of the past began to flood back to me, and I couldn't help but shed tears. I remembered all the pain Venn had caused me, especially when he started dating someone else while we were already married. I recalled the time when my father went missing, the shock of discovering that my mother was still alive, and most importantly, how I felt for Venn. It was a bittersweet recollection of his sacrifices for my happiness, and this time, it was my turn to make things right.
After orchestrating the scene of Doctor's pretend death, I swiftly stepped out of the house and caught sight of Venn inside the vehicle, eyes shut, looking vulnerable.
I hurried to the car door and knocked. He opened it, furrowing his brows, looking as if he might suspect something. Did he catch on? I held my breath, hoping he hadn’t.
"Are you hurt?" I asked, instinctively checking his right leg.
I had told Radiant to take it easy during the mock fight, tsk! You’d better face the consequences tomorrow, Radiant!
"What are you examining, huh? Moon, my dear, this isn’t the place for that," he chuckled, shaking his head.
“Ouch!” he exclaimed as I playfully swatted his head.
“I’m just concerned! You’re the one who’s being all suggestive here, tsk!” I teased back.
“Moon, why so serious? I'm fine, okay? Nothing major happened," he said with that cheerful smile of his.
“Anyhow, where’s the microchip?” I demanded, trying to mask the seriousness behind my tone.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t get it from Doc; he’s dead now. But don’t worry; I’ll find that microchip!” he assured me earnestly.
“I’ve already got it!” I declared, surprising him.
“W-What? How did you manage that? Did you deal with those goons?” he queried, and I merely nodded.
Sliding into the seat beside him, I retrieved my iPod from my bag, assembled it, and handed him the flash drive.
“What am I supposed to do with this?” he asked, confusion etched on his face.
“You’re going to eat it—duh! The microchip is yours; just plug it in to watch," I said teasingly, rolling my eyes at him as he complied.
After he inserted the flash drive, he opened the files but was met with a prompt stating it was restricted and that he’d need to solve a binary code.
10100 01000 00101 10100 10010 10101 10100 01000
His brow furrowed in concentration.
“What is this? Why is there something like this?” He refreshed the page repeatedly, but the same message appeared.
My eyes widened as I began to decode it. The truth was unfolding before us.
“The Truth,” I announced, catching his attention.
“H-How did you know?” he asked, astonished.
“I needed someone like you in my life, HAHHAHA—just kidding! Of course, I’m my mother’s daughter, duh!” I joked.
“What’s the connection? I’m also your mother’s child, remember?” he shot back, crossing his arms with a pout.
I hadn’t seen that comeback coming! Typical Venn!
“Oh, so you’re my sibling now?” I teased further.
“NO! I-I’m... I’m—”
“You're the person I want to spend my whole life with,” I uttered sincerely, kissing him softly on the cheek.
He froze, shocked by my sudden sweetness. Was this the first time I had acted this way towards him? I could hardly remember.
“C-Chian...are you sure it’s you? Do you remember everything?” he asked, disbelief thick in his voice.
I nodded, and as if on cue, I began playing the video I had prepared beforehand, his gaze shifting back and forth between the screen and me.
“Hey, Venn! Or should I say, my dearest husband?” I chuckled lightly while stabilizing the camera on my face.
His eyes widened in surprise as he began to grasp the meaning behind the video. Eventually, he reached for my hand and intertwined our fingers, a smile playing on his lips as he focused on the screen.
“Hmmm, first—okay, last one. You need to listen to this, okay?” I remarked, taking a breath as he leaned against my shoulder.
“I’m not one to show my emotions; I admit that. I’ve never been sweet to you, and I always end up fighting with you—blame yourself for making me jealous, duh!” I teased, rolling my eyes at the camera.
Why did I have to say that? A blush crept onto my cheeks as embarrassment washed over me while we continued to watch.
“You’re blushing, my moon,” he whispered, causing goosebumps to rise on my skin. I instinctively edged away, but he only pulled me closer.
Focusing on the video, I felt good seeing him smile—like he was bringing warmth back into my icy world.
“I know it feels surreal to see me like this, but I just want to thank you for all the memories we’ve shared, for every trial we’ve faced, and for still having you by my side,” I said candidly, my voice beginning to tremble.
“This is not something a typical girl would do, but I just want to be a rare girl for you. I want you to recognize that I’m irreplaceable and that I’m deeply in love with you. Yes, I’m in love with you, my mochi. Why mochi? Because I know you idolize Jimin, one of the BTS members I’ve adored since 2016. This is the day I vow to love you deeply, to take care of you, to be your best friend, your shoulder to cry on, your companion, and your partner in all your endeavors. My mochilalabs, will you spend the rest of your life with me?” I asked in the video, and transitioning the screen, I displayed a collage of our photos set to the background music of “Marry Me” by Jason Derulo.
“I— I’m speechless. I mean... Moon, you’ve made me feel happier than ever—am I daydreaming? Can you kiss me if not?” he stammered, and I playfully hit his arm as laughter escaped us.
"Oh! How dare you say that! I’ve already kissed you; you’re pushing your luck." I joked.
*Tsup*
He pressed a gentle peck on my forehead.
"I may not be perfect for you, but I promise I’ll be there whenever you need me."
He then placed a soft kiss on each of my closed eyelids.
“I see you, my moon. I recognize the beauty in you inside and out. I see you perfectly fit to be my wife.”
Another peck landed on my nose, and I was practically melting.
“I’ll be your strength when you feel weak. I’ll find a way for you—us—to be okay.”
Suddenly, he leaned in, capturing my lips in a passionate kiss, and before I could think, I wholeheartedly kissed him back. “I’ll marry you, my moon,” he murmured between kisses.
“Close the car door; you’re in view of my soon-to-be husband!” a voice interrupted. We turned, startled, to see Joy standing with her partner outside.
Heat rushed to my face; how embarrassing! Oh my goodness!
"You should have covered it! Come on, Joy! This is the first time Moon has acted sweet, and you had to pop in," Venn joked in mock annoyance at Joy, who was accompanied by her boyfriend.
“Save the lovey-dovey stuff for later! HAHAHHA! For now, let’s head back to the mansion. We can watch the video files on that microchip together,” Joy suggested, and we nodded, inviting them to join us as we made our way home.
This was just the beginning of a beautiful chapter in our story. With every moment we shared, the bond between Venn and me grew stronger, and I knew that the love we were nurturing would stand the test of time. We were not just partners; we were destined to be eternal companions in this wild adventure called life.Download Novelah App
