Chapter 63: Comatose

**Someone's POV:**
After nearly two hours of driving, I finally arrived at my mansion. Yes, my mansion—the place where my family resides. Although they believe I am dead, it’s all part of the plan. Soon, I will reunite with them. God knows how much I miss them; it has been eight long years since that fateful incident. I took that bullet on purpose, all to shield my child from the consequences of our enemies. It was crucial that they believed I had perished. I will ensure they pay for their treachery; they gravely underestimated me, Rhanzie Ellipsis Nefarious-Tonacci. They will regret the day they crossed me. I am coming for my revenge.
---
**Rhajie's POV:**
I felt utterly violated—a thief had stolen my autonomy, my dignity. Yes, we are married, but it is completely inappropriate to undress me without my consent! I was left feeling exposed and ashamed, barely able to muster the courage to face him after what had just happened.
I reluctantly climbed out of bed, feeling as if the weight of the world was on my shoulders. I made my way to my walk-in closet; I needed to channel my fury somehow, lest I lose my mind entirely. I opted for my usual training attire—the one that made me feel strong yet comfortable—after all, I was headed for the major training room.
I hopped into my car and drove off to the secret dorm, deliberately leaving my infuriating husband in the dark about my plans. Why should I tell him? It’s as if he doesn’t even care! My forehead creased in confusion the moment I spotted a sticky note plastered to my rearview mirror. As I snatched it up, an icy chill ran down my spine.
"Your car has a time bomb. If you lift your foot off the brake, the countdown will commence. You have only fifty seconds before it explodes, so get out of there as quickly as you can.”
How was I supposed to avoid stepping on the brake? As I approached the stoplight, it was bound to turn green any moment now. God, this situation was madness; I had to think, but my mind was racing in a thousand directions.
Heavy object?
That’s correct! I needed something substantial to keep my foot on the brake so the timer wouldn’t start right away, but I didn’t have anything handy! Damn it! What should I do?
Panic surged through my veins as I stomped on the brake, fully aware of the impending doom looming over me as I watched the countdown tick away—the stoplight now flashing red.
*BEEP!*
*BEEP!*
Oh my God, what now?! How was I supposed to escape this?!
*knock knock*
I immediately opened the window in surprise when a kid handed me a five-liter water jug. I was bewildered; what in the world?
“For—” I barely started to ask before the child bolted away.
Frantically, I replaced my foot on the brake with the water jug, hastily hit the hazard lights, and scrambled out of the car.
“BOMB! THERE’S A BOMB!” I shouted in desperation, but the explosion hit before I could finish my sentence.
The world around me turned into chaos. It felt like I had been struck deaf; I rolled along the ground as I tried to regain my composure, desperately trying to escape the aftermath.
“Help the woman! She crashed into the rocks! Hurry!” were the last words I managed to hear before everything faded into darkness.

**Venn's POV:**
I was about to call Mami La to inquire if my bratty wife had gone to her place when suddenly my phone rang.
“Yeah?” I answered, hurriedly looking to see who was calling.
“Uhm. Is this Mr. Ellinox Venn Valorous?” the voice on the other end asked.
“Yes, did my wife give you her phone?” I inquired, panic seeping into my tone.
“No sir, she’s in the hospital right now. I just dialed the first name I saw in her contacts.”
"W-What? What happened to her?!” My heart raced with alarm.
“She was involved in a bomb incident; you need to come as quickly as possible."
"My God, I’m on my way!” I said, ending the call and sprinting to the hospital.
When I arrived at the nurse’s station, my heart was hammering in my chest. “What’s the room number for Rhajie Chian Valorous?” I asked breathlessly.
“Just a moment, sir,” the nurse replied as she typed away at the computer. “Sorry sir, we don’t have her here, but we do have Rhajie Chian Tonacci.”
How could she not use my last name? Ah, that’s right—I was still married to her in secret.
“Then what’s her room number?” I asked, feeling a knot of frustration and confusion creep in.
“Room 069, sir.” I nodded in gratitude before darting toward my wife’s room.
Just as I was about to enter, I noticed someone inside. I paused for a moment, deciding to quickly open the door. I was shocked to see a woman who looked to be in her mid-thirties.
“Who are you?” I asked, my voice low and serious.
“You don’t need to know. Just take care of her and make sure no one discovers I was here. I know who you are, Ellinox Venn Valorous, son of Mr. Lux Veighn Valorous.” With that, she slipped past me and hurried out.
It had been a month since that dreadful incident, and still, my wife lay unconscious. Each time I looked at her, a pang of sorrow clenched at my heart.
“Oy! Chill out, Yiieee! You must have fallen for Bessy HAHAHA!” Joy teased, casually perched beside Rhaj’s bed.
“I’m just concerned for her—who wouldn’t be? Seeing her like this hurts,” I remarked nonchalantly.
“Speaking of which, did your mission succeed?” Joy asked suddenly serious.
"Hmm, things are progressing smoothly. Tomorrow, I’ll be heading to their place. Cheska will introduce me to her parents, my targets. I must prepare myself and my gear, so please keep an eye on Rhaj.” I gave her a gentle pat on the back before stepping out.

**Joy's POV:**
I was settling down for the night on the couch when a sigh caught my attention. I turned my gaze toward Rhaj’s fingers, hoping for some sort of response. But when nothing happened, disappointment washed over me, and sleep overtook me.
“Pssst! Pssst! Heyyyyy! Wake up!” I jolted awake to Rhaj’s voice.
“YOU’RE AWAKE! THANK GOD, FINALLY!” I squealed, rushing over to envelop her in a hug.
“A-Ah! You're too clingy! Who in the world are you?” She replied, irritation evident in her tone.
“Oh please! Rhaj, do not play games with me; your attempt at feigning amnesia won’t work!” I chuckled.
“Do I look like I’m acting?” she replied, raising an eyebrow.
“W-Wait! Let me call your doctor. Stay right here, okay? Don’t go anywhere!” I hastily said, anxiety creeping into my voice as I rushed outside.
What if she genuinely had amnesia? What was I supposed to do?
“Ah, nurse! The patient in room 069 is awake; could you please call her private doctor?” I told a nurse who nodded and swiftly headed to fetch them.
*After an hour…*
“We’ll conduct an examination. From what I gathered earlier, she may be experiencing selective amnesia due to recent trauma. We’ll need to run some tests to confirm.” The doctor assured us after questioning Rhaj.
Tension was palpable in the air as we braced ourselves for the uncertainty that lay ahead.
