Chapter 14

A few days later...
Saturday...
12:40 PM...
At the gym...
Linh's POV...
Today my body feels a bit cold. I don't know if has something to do with my unstable hormones or the fact that my body sometimes just feel like this. Yet, I still want to workout after a busy week. By that, I decided to let my hair down and wear a heavyweight yellow t-shirt, complete with my usual black leggings.
I walk inside the gym to see Hoang already running on the treadmill, while Minh is using the shoulder press machine. Today I thought about going for a simple back day. I start to analyze the whole gym to see what can I do, and I thought about choosing the cable row as my first choice.
As my eyes continue to analyze the gym, I stop when I see a familiar tall figure doing some cable row. With a look of inner-peace, Nar looks exactly like the perfect picture of someone who is too busy minding his own business. For a second, my eyes were enchanted when I saw his smooth movements while doing the cable row. I think it's a personal style of him to make everything seem so smooth yet with a touch of fire in the vibe.
"I almost thought you weren't coming down."
I turn my head to the other side and see Minh is now standing next to me. She noticed that I was staring at Nar just now, which quickly made my cheeks blush a deep shade of red out of nowhere. Man, why did I have to feel awkward just because she caught me staring at her crush? It's not a big deal.
"You know I can't possibly skip gym for a whole week," I state. True, despite my busy schedules of trying to create good contents and possibly freelance writing on the internet, I take my workout seriously even though I'm not really the most expert in working out.
"Same like me," Minh states.
After his final rep, Nar then turns his head and noticed that Minh and I are standing not too far from him, in which both of us are now having eye contact with him. However, instead of throwing his usual small (with a bit of a smirk) smile, he just turns his head quickly as if he's trying to avoid any eye contact with us. Ok, that was weird.
"Did you see that?" I ask Minh about Nar's weird behaviour just now.
"Yeah," Minh states. "He's been acting weird these past few days."
"Past few days?" I ask Minh in a wondering tone.
"Well, I saw him two times this week. I assume he didn't have to go to the office during those two days, or maybe he got back home earlier," Minh states.
"I see," I say. Remembering that he did told me that sometimes if he only has to do the work from his laptop or has an online meeting, he doesn't have to go to the office. At least, sometimes.
"Chances are, he's probably still shock about the message," I say to Minh in a low tone.
Hearing that, Minh quickly attempt to hold back her laughter as the thought of her message to him starts surfacing back in her head. Everytime she remembers it, she never fails to end up laughting. Honestly, I also crack up everytime we talk about it, but this time we really gotta hold it back before he sense any suspicious thoughts about us. Though he probably already assumed that we're the ones behind that message.
"Man, no wonder he's been behaving so weird these past few days," Minh states.
"Yeah," I say.
"By the way, it's not everyday I get to see you without a ponytail at the gym," Minh says.
"I'm feeling a bit cold today so I decided to let my hair down," I say.
"Well, ok. Just go workout already," Minh says.
"Yeah, I'm gonna start with cable row," I say as I finally see Nar walking away from the cable machine and going over to the dumbells section.
As I continue my normal workout routine, I couldn't help but noticed Nar's face from the big mirrors placed in front of the dumbells section. Despite focusing like usual with his workout, his face still looks somehow odd. In fact, I think this is the first time ever since we met that he seems...rather off. Yes, he seems to be the type of person who would act "cool" from time to time, but this is way different than his usual act that he would often try to display on his face.
A few minutes passed, I noticed him walking up to Mr Tuan's desk. The two begin to have a light conversation before bursting out a small laughter. In my head, my mind is still curious about what could make him look so odd today. I figured maybe it has something to do with the message Minh and I sent him a few days ago. Maybe he was scared knowing that got a secret admirer who could possibly be a stalker as well? With that thought in mind, I figured that it wouldn't to just straight up ask him about how he's doing, and about the message with hopes that he wouldn't eventually feel more creeped out. Of course, I need to ask Minh first for her permission. Well, it would be rude if I was to walk up to her crush and ask him something without my sister's concern.
By that, I walk up to Minh who is now standing next to Hoang who just finished his run on the treadmill. The boy is now drinking from his water bottle after the long run.
"Hey, are you guys done?" I ask them.
"Yup," Hoang states.
"We're gonna go back after this. What about you?" Minh asks.
"I'm done yet," I say. "By the way, do you think I should ask Nar about the message? Maybe we could eventually find out more whether he's freaked out or not, or if he is suspicious of us."
"Sure, that sounds good," Minh says with excitement. "I can't wait to hear some new tea."
"I just need to wait till he's done talking to Mr Tuan," I say.
"Seems like he's already done now," Hoang adds.
Hearing that, I turn my head to see Nar is now busy with his phone while still standing next to Mr Tuan's desk. However, Mr Tuan is not in sight, which I assumed he probably went to the restroom or something.
"Ok, here goes," I say to both Minh and Hoang.
"Just don't burst out laughting," Minh says with a smirk on her face, while Hoang just pulled out his phone from his pocket.
I walk up to the desk where Nar is still focus on his phone. I actually thought he was gonna continue with his workout soon, but seems like he decided to check his phone longer than I thought. Well, I just hope that I'm not disturbing him.
"Hi," I say to him. "How are you?"
To be continue...
