Chapter 10

A few minutes later...
"If you see the smith machine being available then please call me ASAP," Minh says before starting her first rep of Bulgarian split squat.
"Sure," Linh says as she grabs two 4kg dumbells for her to do RDL.
As the girls continue with their workout, a guy wearing a navy t-shirt walks pass them. He form a small smile at the two girls by chance, before he heads over to put his gym bag on the corner of the room.
"Oh look, Xiaoyang is here," Minh says in a rather playful tone.
"Yeah," Linh says while staring at Xiaoyang from a distance. As her eyes gets lost while staring at him who is heading over to the bench press, she couldn't help but feel butterflies starting to flutter inside her, as the thoughts from last night came surfacing back in her head, where he walked her through the garden on the way back to her apartment. What gives her more tense was the moment they were staring at each other under the night sky. If she could make a wish on a thousand stars that were the witness of their beautiful moment together, she would wish that last night didn't have to end so quickly, and if possible, it didn't have to end with a farewell, yet maybe something magical.
If last night we didn't say goodbye, would there be anything else that would awaken the butterflies in my heart? Linh thought.
"Woah, get your focus back," Minh says as she approaches her older sister.
Linh snaps back from her daydream, realizing that she probably almost "overrest" while getting lost with her own thoughts from last night. Her cheeks starts to blush as she gets back for another set of RDL, hence trying to get her mind back on the workout.
Time felt like it's flying faster as everyome at the gym got too busy with their own workout. Nar eventually finished using the smith machine and went over to the leg extension. Minh got excited and ran over to the smith machine, in which she eventually almost had to fight over with a man who was about to use it. And while Xiaoyang is busy running on the treadmill, Linh decided to do some kick back after RDL.
Linh's POV...
I stood for a rest after an exciting kick back session. I thought I would only need to do one more set yet I'm gonna take a short break just to check my phone. I gotta know if the new video I posted got some good responce from the viewers. Of course, as a content creator, one of the things I love to hear about are feedbacks from the viewers, yet we're not talking about the hate comments here. Hate comments and feedbacks are two totally different things.
"So where's your brother?"
That familiar voice tinkles from the back of my head. I quickly turn around to see Nar now standing in front of me. His bangs looks a bit messy now, which wasn't a surprise since he had been working out quite hard today. My eyes got lost for a moment in his gaze, which I noticed his brown eyes starts to sparkle, or maybe...I just thought his eyes looked charming?
"He's taking a rest today," I say in a casual tone.
"I see," Nar says, while forming a smile on his face.
"So how was your dinner last night?" I ask him. I remember he told me last night that he got a bit tipsy and decided to head to bed right after he got back home. It actually surprised me that he still has the energy to workout today, despite getting a bit tipsy last night.
"It was good. Just another ordinary tipsy night with the guys," Nar says. "Would be better if there were women though."
Hearing his statement, my jaws almost drop after hearing him just now. My eyes widens as I try to calm my mind from the shock of his words while trying to think of a chill respond. That was surely a sarcastic comment on such  a fine Sunday afternoon, which honestly made me confuse about whether he's being serious or is he just joking in a sarcastic way. More awkwardly, am I even suppose to laugh or feel surprised?
"Oh," I say in a flat yet awkward tone.
"What about you? Did the date went well with the other guy?" Nar asks before turning his head away, still forming a smile on his lips. Yet this time, I noticed his smile looked a bit stiff.
"Other guy? By that did you assumed I have a lot of guys?" I ask him in a calm manner. I cross my arms as I stare at his eyes with confidence, my face would show a puzzled look.
"Just asking. Not that it matters. You are a single woman, you have the freedom," he says before bursting out a small chuckle at the end, which literally almost made me feel speechless at his silly statement and action just now.
"It was a friendly night out with a friend," I say. "And to add it, would it even matter who I went out with?"
"Not really. Like I said, you have the freedom," Nar says, again still with the same smile of stiff. That was already so much to know about him even though we literally just became friends yesterday.
"Same goes to you, as I believe," I say. "Or maybe you got someone and that would make me as an interruption?"
"Ah, clever statement you got there," Nar says. "But I don't think I'm the guy you should get closer too. Haha, I'm quite dangerous."
Ok, this time I almost burst out laughting if I didn't try my best to hold it back. This guy is definitely being dramatic out of nowhere. He probably be thinking that we are in one of those cheesy TV dramas or whatever.
"You know, I do believe that dangerous people wouldn't really reveal themselves to their enemy," I say. "By that, I think you're not too dangerous."
Hearing my statement, Nar starts laughting as he shyly looks away from my sight, yet I could tell I just made his cheeks blush a light shade of red from my comeback. Haha, he probably didn't expect it coming.
"Wow, do you often do this to other guys?" Nar asks, with his cheeks still blushing like a shy boy.
"Not really," I say while staring at him in a confident manner. Of course, I have to portray that I'm a chill person with the intention of a normal friendship without any flirty or dramatic elements. So, he better not to be thinking that I have a thing for him, hopefully.
"I kind of doubt that. You seem to be too good with your words," Nar says in a chill yet playful manner. It seems like he's trying to playfully tease with that sentence.
"Just because one is good with words, doesn't mean she has eyes on everyone," I state.
"Wow, well said, Miss Linh," Nar says, yet this time in a more playful tone.
Meanwhile....
Minh's POV...
It's been a few minutes since I'm sitting on the bench near the smith machine while taking a break. With my earbuds on, some people would gaze at me at thought that I'm too busy with my own world, getting lost with my phone while listening to some Pop songs or something. I would describe the listening to songs part was true, yet if people thought I was too lost with my phone, then they better guess again. Though my phone is in hand, my gaze kept shifting between my phone and the sight of my older sister literally talking to Nar in the most "friendly" manner. In fact, I would honestly describe that the two of them are actually behaving "too friendly" for friends to one another. Though it honestly gave me such an annoying feeling, at least I could watch if anyone of them are gonna do something more close to the word "stupid". I'm not gonna lie that I do love my sister and trust her. I know well Linh's not the type of girl who would steal another girl's man, or crush, especially if he is her sister's target. Yet, I couldn't help but just feel weird at the sight of everytime they interract, even though she had told me multiple times this morning to not worry. She even constantly told me to start up a conversation with him or maybe send him a text, in which I'm still considering about. Not only am I a shy girl during day one, but other days I just have too much pride to make the first move.
But again, looking at the sight of Nar now still laughting with my sister, I realize that she had a point that if I don't send a message or at least strike up a conversation, then how are we even gonna be friends in the first place? All this time I've been asking Linh to do all the work to approach my gym crush, when I should be the one to do that. By that, I have to come up with a plan to have a decent conversation with him. Well, but not now, and definitely not here.
To be continue...
