Chapter 77 A sad farewell

“Want to know a very little secret?” She asked Vienna, and she continued, “You know, I was the one who killed your horrendous ugly pet.” The witch admitted. “The little girl Ella saw me doing that so she ran, and I made her forget her memory.” She said, “I also faked being sick and acted cutely so you knights could fall in love with me.”
“But I didn’t.” Replied, Titus.
“Yeah, that’s a pity, we could have been perfect together.”
Raziel managed to cage her and the witch transformed into a tiger. Vienna got down and sliced on her thighs, but the witch was quick to go to her subordinate, biting on Titus’ shoulder.

Lady Vienna snarled at how the witch was grabbing Titus. Titus hastened to grab his sword and push the witch away,  glancing at his master.
“I’m alright, Master!” He reassured Vienna but Vienna wasn’t even assured at how Titus was whimpering.

Vienna came to twist the witch's tiger head but it transformed into a smaller….a bat. Since the cage had holes, she managed to get out,  then bit Titus who didn’t manage to dodge, and took her with him. “You darn witch!”
Vienna jumped to them but she barely could reach them. She turned to the duke, “Raziel!”
“Alright.” Raziel then formed a blue light and pushed it into the sky, hitting the witch on its wing. The witch’s wing flipped off, losing balance from carrying Titus who was struggling but she still kept on flying up and into the dark sky. Vienna could see Titus’ still fighting but then looked at her with something in his eyes.
Raziel tried again to the other wing but the witch was quick to form an incantation and a loud bang came, and the light thundering emerged. A strong magnetic field burst, pushing them off.
Vienna closed her eyes as Raziel came to shield his body from her.
As she opened her eyes, the worry was on Raziel’s eyes as he stared at her own red orbs. “Vienna, are you alright?”
She tried to look at the sky and felt disappointed that the witch was gone, taking Titus with her too.
“They’re gone,” Fedel announced as silence came. He then looked apologetically at the duchess.

“Forgive me, your grace.” Fedel bowed his head and Vienna avoided him.
Lady Vienna felt like fainting and she let herself drop to the ground.
How useless of a master she is.
She could have worked harder and stopped the witch from taking Titus. Yes, Titus may have been strong. But…
A pair of strong hands gently comforted her back, “This is not your fault,” Raziel’s voice said softly to her.
She gritted her teeth and looked up, “I know, and I’ll never forgive that witch. I’ll make sure to slice up her body, slowly and painfully. I’ll torture her so badly she’ll regret ever coming here.”
She shook her head, laughing wickedly, “Looks like I just grew kinder. People forget what I am capable of.”
Duke Raziel somehow chuckled watching her by the side and Vienna raised her eyebrows at him. “What? Why are you laughing at me? Do you find me funny?
“No, I just knew you wouldn’t back down so easily.”
She smiled at his reaction, “I am not Vienna for nothing.”
Lady Vienna dust herself off from the ground and stood up. Raziel escorted her back to the orphanage as it slowly started to rain. The sky seemed to feel what Lady Vienna was feeling as they marched back, they turned completely soaking. But it didn’t matter to them. Vienna felt more determined than ever that a mere rain couldn’t stop her now.

A new mission is now in her mind. All she could think of was the possible ways to torture that bitch.
“We need to leave now. As fast as possible.”  She said to Raziel and he nodded.
“If that is what you want, but let us dry ourselves off and say our goodbyes. We’ll leave after that.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
As soon as they opened the door, a very worried Mr, Martini welcomed them, noticing how soakingly wet and dirty they were,  “Goodness gracious! Your graces!”
Lady Vienna glanced at Raziel to signal him about the incident that just happened and Raziel nodded, “I already informed him in advance. You do not need to worry and explain.”
Mr. MArtini ushered them inside before they could catch a cold.
“Get in, get in! It was raining so hard that the children were looking for you, duchess.”
Lady Vienna widened her eyes, “They did?”
It felt strange and she could feel her heart warming. They usually hated her..what happened?
Duke Raziel nudged her from beside and whispered in her ears, “I told them about your wonderful adventures beforehand. And they all were eager to listen for more.”
Lady Vienna widened her eyes, wanting to ask more but the children were in their pajamas then appeared from their rooms, all rushing to her.
“Careful children!” Mr. Martini warned and Lady Vienna reassured him it was fine.
“Lady Vienna, where were you?”
“There was thunder! I’m scared!”
Lady Vienna chuckled and kneeled down to match their eyes, “Don’t be scared, I’m here now. And I’m wet from the rain so do not hug me for now. You’ll catch a cold.”
Everyone was swarming up on her  and Duke Raziel cleared his throat to gain their attention too, “Will no one look for me too?”
It seemed that they did not hear him or the children chose to just ignore him as they continued gushing on about how they were scared for tonight. Lady Vienna ruffled their hairs, smiling for them, and glanced at the pouting duke beside her.

She gave a smirk at him, somehow enjoying the idea that she completely won the children’s attention over him.
“Return to your bedroom children. We’ll just dry ourselves up, alright?” She announced and they shook their heads.
“Will you disappear again?”
“Will you leave us now? We promise to be good now!”
“Can you read me a bedtime story?”
She looked at everyone and couldn’t help but feel sad. They seemed to really love her now when she’s close to leaving this place. She wanted to stay, tempted to be at their company for a few more days but…the situation is at stake. Time is ticking. Time is their enemy. The more seconds pass, the more Titus is in danger with that witch.
She’s not even sure what is going on and what is Titus experiencing now…tortured, sacrificed? She’ll never know unless she leaves this place. She hopes that Titus will hold out for now. She’s focused on her new mission of saving Titus now.
The children continually asked for her and Mr. Martini came to rush them back to their bedrooms. They then dried themselves off in their own quarters and after packing her stuff. a knock came on her door.
She opened it and saw Fedel. She sighed, “Is it time?”
