9: They Shall Live On

"So where is he", Minho asked. "I'll tell you when the time is right", Minji responded avoiding the question. "What the hell even is that answer", Minho asked frustrated. "I can't tell you everything in one sitting, Just relax and trust me that he is somewhere safe", Minji responded making Minho roll his eyes for like the hundredth time today. "So bastard is alive", Nari asked as the thought just now sunk into her. "Yes, bastard is alive", Minji said which made Nari release a sigh of relief. "Oh thank heavens", Nari said in relief. "And you have to stay alive too", Minji said with eyes glued on the road. "I know you'll do everything you can to help me stay alive, and I can't be more grateful to you", Nari responded as she held Minji's free hand. "For now, you have to deliver your dead body to your family", Minji said changing the subject. "How will we do this", Nari asked. "Just drop off the bag by your front yard or wherever you know your family will see as soon as they step out the house", Minji suggested. "I think I have a better idea", Nari said making Minji gesture that she spill this idea of hers. "What if we do the same thing you did to bastard's dead double", Nari asked making Minji furrow her eyebrows.
"Why", Minji simply asked. "Because dumping my dead body at my house is nearly impossible", Nari responded which was unsatisfactory to Minji. "Again, why", Minji asked again. "Our house is being monitored by your father, even the perimeters around it", Nari explained making Minji smile. "I knew you are very reliable, to the school it is", Minji said as she turned the car en route towards their new destination. The ride to their school was silent and as soon as they reached school grounds, Nari suddenly felt nervous. "Are you sure no one will see us", Nari asked fiddling with her fingers. "I already did this the first time, let's do this for the last time", Minji said parking the car and immediately heading out. "How is she even sure this is the last time", Minho asked before heading out as well. "What's that supposed to mean", Nari asked dumbfounded as she headed out last. "Can you be a man and carry this for us", Minji asked handing Minho the bag and a pair of gloves. "Fine whatever give me the exhausting part of the job", Minho said rolling his eyes accepting the bag just as he wore the gloves. "So we'll put this in our classroom", Minji asked Nari being that Nari is now the mastermind of this plan. "Yes and you have to be the one to report this in the morning", Nari instructed Minji. "Why", Minji asked as if it wasn't obvious enough.
"So you won't be framed in this, act scared and cry even, we need to get this act together", Nari answered making Minji smile all of a sudden. "That's my girl", Minji said with a smile as she patted Nari's head before walking past her. "What? What was that", Nari asked touching the part of her head that Minji touched. "Does that mean I pass", Nari asked as she now started to follow along the siblings. They stealthily made their way to Minji's and Nari's classroom and proceeded to tie up Nari's dead double. "Are you sure about this", Nari asked seeing that the body isn't really in a position where it is believable to rule it as an accident or something that is self-inflicted. "The police that will be investigating works under me... well under someone that works for me", Minji said making Nari nod. "Were they the one that investigated yesterday", Minho asked as Minji nodded. "Huh... explains why the news never made it to the medias", Nari reacted. "Well I did send a message to the president", Minji said making Minho sigh in disbelief yet again. "What did you say this time", Minho asked. "Well I told him to take this as a warning and if he continues taking orders from our father, I'll leak every single illegal thing he has done to the medias", Minji elaborated making Nari gasp. "And what do you know", Minho asked laughing. "Not a single clue", Minji answered laughing as well. "What a bunch of weirdos", Nari muttered as she witnessed this weird interaction between the siblings.
They finished the job quickly and headed home... well they decided to stay at Minji's house for the night. When morning came, Minji was up and about, hurriedly making her way to school to be the first person to find Nari's dead body. She rode her bike together along with Minho and the four as they were all in with the plan. "Prepare your tears Ji", Hyunjin teased making Minji laugh just as they were about to reach school grounds. "Better have my best actress trophy prepared", Minji said making all of them laugh. Just as they reached school grounds, they tried to act as normal and went to their lockers first before heading to their classrooms. And as expected, Nari's dead double is hanging by one of the windows. Minji then screamed and covered her eyes as she ran out the room. "Help", she called with tears now streaming down her eyes. The four following from behind her. Just before they could reach the gates, they saw a teacher walking in. "Help please help", Minji said now crying. "Oh dear what happened", the teacher asked seeing Minji shaking in fear with the four boys following her from behind. "Is it something that have to do with you", the teacher asked facing the four. The four then just shook their heads in response. "Oh dear what happened, tell me", the teacher continued to ask Minji who can't speak due to her crying.
"Kwon Nari there", Minji said in between sobs. "Did she hurt you dear", the teacher asked trying to make sense of whatever she just told her. "She's dead", Minji said just before falling to her knees as she continued crying. "Oh no call the police", the teacher hurriedly instructed the four. They took that as cue to call the number that Minji gave them earlier. "Hello, yes, we would like to report a dead person... no wait, there's a dead person here, please come immediately", Seungmin called and went on with the act as he nervously spoke on the phone as well. "Calm down now Lee Minji, calm down", the teacher tried to calm down Minji as she helped her stand up and walked her towards the faculty room. The four remained outside and waited for the police to come. As they arrived, the four immediately informed them of the situation to which they responded immediately by heading straight to the scene and surrounding the area with police tape. "Who found the body", one of the police asked the four. "We did, along with Lee Minji", Felix answered. "Where is this Lee Minji", the police officer again asked. "She's in the faculty room", Hyunjin answered. "As part of our protocol, we will bring you in one by one for questioning", the police officer said making the four nod in agreement. "Can we start with Lee Minji", the officer asked.
"I think it's better to question her last since she was affected the most emotionally", Felix responded making the police nod as well. "Well alright, let's start with you then", he then said dragging Felix towards a secluded room lend by the school with two detectives seated by the table inside. The police officer then left Felix inside the room and locked the door behind him. "It's just protocol kid, no need to be nervous. We know you're one of Minji's friends and we already have a ready-written statement here from the four of you. We'll only hold you here for ten minutes to avoid suspicion. You can calm down now", one of the detectives explained making Felix release a sigh of relief. One by one, the boys were called in for questioning to which they were all told the same thing. Time has passed and it was Minji's turn. As she was called from the faculty room, all the teachers' eyes were on her as soon as she got up and watched her until she exited the room with the police officer. "What did their faces look like", Minji asked whispering as soon as they were out. "Somewhat concerned and worried about you", he answered. "It was effective then", Minji responded trying to contain her smile. "Keep it down and hurry up, let's make this trip to interrogation quick", the police officer said as he picked up his pace making Minji walk just a little bit faster as well.
"Miss Minji, how have you been", one of the detectives greeted her. "Still the same, just with puffy eyes trying to keep the act, you know, same old", Minji responded laughing. "Well you know the drill already", the detective said. "Of course detective, oh and before I forget, I remember hearing about your daughter", Minji said to the other detective. "Yes miss Minji, she's part of the graduating batch this year at university", he responded. "Well inform me when she does, I'll send in a good word for her wherever she wishes to work", Minji said with a smile. "She did mention wanting to work in the office", he hesitatingly said. "Which office", Minji asked. "Oh you know... the office", he responded emphasizing the word 'the'. "Oh you mean the office of the president", Minji asked without hesitation. "Yeah... that", the detective still holding back. "That's easy! Don't worry about that detective, I can make that happen", Minji reassuringly said making the detective stand up and bow towards her in appreciation. "Thank you so much miss Minji you don't know how much this means to her", the detective said. "That's nothing, besides, your hard work means a lot to me too", Minji responded making the detective smile as well. "Always at your service", the other detective now said. "Thank you so much... now please do me a favor and make sure the two stays alive no matter what", Minji said making the two detectives nod in agreement. "They shall live on anyways... and tell the tale", Minji muttered to herself as she leaned her back towards her seat and crossed her arms as she released a deep sigh after a stressful string of events that happened in a span of two days.
