"What is it that you know Minji", Minho asked as soon as he entered Minji's room. "You're persistent, aren't you", Minji asked back. "Just tell me damn it", Minho said frustratingly as he sat down beside Minji. "You wouldn't believe me even if I tell you", Minji responded following a deep sigh. "What will I not believe at this point? A lot is already unveiling and I hate to be the one to be left behind", Minho reacted as looked straight unto Minji's eyes. "You'll hate me for this", Minji said pouting. "Oh come on! I should have hated you for everything you have hid from me all these years which I only knew now", Minho responded emphasizing the word 'which'. "Don't you", Minji asked which shocked Minho. "You seriously think I hate you", Minho asked back with widened eyes. "Well kind of by the way you're acting and reacting to the things you're finding out", Minji answered still with the pout. "Those were out of shock and frustration but never hate", Minho clarified making Minji laugh all of a sudden which confused Minho. "I know I was just messing with you", Minji said still laughing. "You know that I still have to know whatever is happening one way or another", Minho said with a serious expression on his face. "You do know too that I'm only doing everything I can to protect you and help you live a normal life because I know that's what you want", Minji responded making Minho nod.
"You still have to let me know", Minho persisted making Minji release a deep sigh. "Fine, I'll let you know everything from now on", Minji said in defeat making Minho smile. "Atta'girl", Minho said playfully patting Minji's head. "Stop that", Minji said swatting Minho's hand away. "Now, will you tell me what happened", Minho tried to ask again. "Remember when we accompanied the president's son to our father's mansion", Minji asked as Minho nodded. "That same night, he messaged me", Minji continued. "What did he say", Minho asked. "He told me everything our father told him and the reason why he was so damn terrified when he left the mansion", Minji responded. "And that is", Minho continued to patiently ask. "Our father told him to make sure he's gone by sunrise and that he will kill him with his own hands if he needed to", Minji elaborated which made Minho's expression turn sour. "Like what I told you, he is a merciless man and would stop at nothing until he gets what he wants", Minji continued. "What does he really want to do such extremes as threatening the president's son", Minho asked. "Oh that's not yet that extreme, I've seen worse", Minji reacted which shocked and confused Minho. "What do you mean you've seen worse", Minho asked making Minji immediately cover her mouth in shock of her unintentional information slip. "What is it", Minho continued to ask upon seeing Minji's undesirable reaction to his question. "Nothing", Minji said shaking her head and awkwardly smiling.
"Minji you promised just moments ago", Minho said with a disappointed look. "Fine okay, just promise me to not ever act irrationally or stop me from whatever I'm doing, okay", Minji asked raising her pinky finger. "Okay fine I swear", Minho said raising his as well. "They weren't the first ones that I helped fake deaths", Minji admitted. "Okay, and", Minho asked with a neutral expression as he wasn't surprised with the information. "They weren't the first ones that our father wanted to kill because of us", Minji continued making Minho just nod as his reaction. "Well that was anti-climactic", Minho said which made Minji laugh. "Including our biological mother, big brother", Minji said which suddenly made Minho's face turn serious. "Not so anti-climactic now", Minji asked still laughing. "What's so funny about that Minji", Minho asked furrowing his eyebrows. "She's alive dude, and I helped her fake her death", Minji said as her face turned serious as well. "You must be joking, right", Minho asked. Minji just stayed silent and stared at him with a blank expression. "Impossible Minji, we were just kids back then", Minho said which made Minji's blank expression turn into a ferocious one looking like a provoked tiger in the wild. "Want to bet", Minji asked as her lips form into a smirk. "Bet on what", Minho asked. "That our biological mother is just living close by", Minji said with face full of confidence. "No Minji", Minho said shaking his head.
"Yes Lee Minho, your biological mother is alive and well", Minji said making Minho cover his ears and turn away from Minji. "Face it big brother, you told me you want to know everything I know, right? I've kept everything to myself so if you want to know everything, you must suffer with me", Minji said removing Minho's hands on his ears. "Shut up Minji", Minho yelled. "Do you wanna hear everything or are you just gonna whine like a baby", Minji asked as she distanced herself from Minho. He then took a minute to compose himself before facing Minji. "Tell me", Minho said as he is now calmed down. "Like what I said, she's alive and is close", Minji repeated herself. "Yeah yeah I know that already, what else", Minho asked with his eyebrows furrowed. "The night before our father tried to kill her, she visited me in my room. She told me a bunch of things but the bottom line of her speech was that she was saying good bye", Minji elaborated. "Why? And why didn't she visit me", Minho asked a tad bit hurt. "Well she said she went to you first but you're already asleep", Minji explained making Minho nod. "Then why was she saying good bye", Minho asked. "It's as if it was a premonition of hers, she wasn't directly saying good bye but I knew what she meant", Minji explained. "Okay, then what happened next", Minho asked trying to piece everything together.
"I asked her what the problem was and given that I was only five at that time, she thought she would share everything with me since she thought I wouldn't really understand anything. When she told me that she had this intense gut feeling that she's in danger the moment she told the story of how our father blatantly told her that he wants to kill her just made me felt something. At first I didn't know what it was but I felt this strong urge to help her. When morning came, I asked her to accompany me to the garden. She was really hesitant and I get it, she was scared for her life. I eventually got her to agree with me and the only reason that I brought her there was that I knew someone was buried there", Minji elaborated to which Minho cut in between. "Someone was buried in the garden", Minho asked. "Yeah, I know the family driver accidentally killed his wife and didn't want anyone to know so he buried her at our garden, just underneath the tallest tree there", Minji responded shocking Minho. "What the fuck", Minho asked gasping. "And I saw everything, from how he stabbed her up to when he buried her, which I also saw that she has some resemblance to our mother which gave me an awfully brilliant idea... well I'm not quite sure if it was brilliant or not but that's besides the point", Minji continued her story.
"So what did you do", Minho asked still in a state of shock. "I asked our mom to help me dig out from underneath the tree and when we reached the body, she fell on her knees, she suddenly felt weak. At first, she thought I was the one who did it but after a long discussion and a lengthy explanation, she realized I was just a kid not capable of doing such thing. When that's done, she then asked me why I asked her to help dig the body out and that's when I told her the plan I formulated overnight", Minji said making Minho more invested by the second. "Which was", Minho asked wanting to hear more. "That's when I told her we'll fake her death. She laughed for a minute but as I continued to tell her the plan, her laughter slowly faded away and I saw she started slowly nodding as if she was agreeing to my plan. When I finished explaining to her she was silent for a while so thought I should just give up the idea but then she eventually spoke up saying that she's in which had me excited since I never really knew what will happen after that. So yeah, we did it, I had mom dress the same as the corpse and had dad drunk. Once we were sure he was drunk, mom started a fight which escalated quickly and since he was anger issues, he eventually made the move of reaching for a knife and stabbing mom", Minji explained.
"If he stabbed mom then would have died, right", Minho asked. "Well yeah probably but not really. He stabbed her by the arm which she immediately escaped from. Before she went to dad, we already had the corpse lay by the hallway in a position where she's laying on her back as if she had tripped so as mom ran, when she reached the location of the corpse, she rerouted and hid by one of the rooms. And as I have projected, dad's drunken and angered state wouldn't be in the right mind and actually kill a person... well kill a corpse for the second time around. He continuously stabbed the corpse until he was out of breath to which he took a small break. Once he was back to his senses, he dragged the body away and the rest we already knew what happened, he had her cremated as quickly as possible and only showed us the urn", Minji elaborated leaving Minho speechless this time around. "Okay you're lost for words so I'll just continue on with what happened to our mom afterwards. After our dad dragged the body away and we were sure the coast was clear, I had her run away as far as possible, we kept close contact through mail and we had an agreement to never tell you since you can't really keep a secret", Minji said which made Minho react weirdly. "I can keep a secret", Minho said pouting and crossing his arms.
"Yeah, I know and what I will say next, I need you to keep it, okay", Minji asked making Minho nod aggressively in agreement to her. "As I grew older, I realized she can't continue on living that way, she yearns for our presence and I can't really do anything about it since you know how controlling our father was so i made the tough decision of having her memories erased", Minji said which made Minho gasp for the second time. "That was possible", Minho asked. "With money, anything is possible. Well with her memories erased, I basically wrote a whole new life for her, I wrote everything from her birth to her supposed accident leading to her memory being lost and had her entire identity changed. She is now living as the person I wrote her to be. Although it hurts for me actually losing a mother, like really losing her, but I wouldn't be more at peace seeing her live a sound and peaceful life away from all the bullshit that our father had to put her through. I can't be any more happier even though I had to sacrifice the life I'm supposed to have with her", Minji explained. "Okay, with all that being said, can I ask you one thing", Minho asked. "You wanna know where she is, don't you", Minji asked back chuckling bitterly as Minho nod gesturing she was on point. "She's here living as Jisung's adoptive mother", Minji finally said.
