***********
I stretched myself by lifting my hand as high as I could.
Gosh! This is a very tiring flight. The truth is that this is my very first flight, but I won't tell anybody; that's my little secret.
"Are you done?" his voice echoes.
I quickly put down my hand.
"Uhmm, sorry about that. I was... I was..."
"It's ok; I know you are beat up from the flight," he says.
I gave out a slight smile.
He knows everything that I'm going to say before I even do it.
My eyes fell on his hands, and I saw that he was holding our luggage.
I quickly reached over to take the stuff. I mean, he is my frigging teacher, so how can I let him take our stuff? That's disrespectful.
"Let me, sir, I say, reaching out to collect his travel bag and my mini trolley.
"No, I can handle it; all you have to do is make sure you keep up with me. Can you do that, or do I have to carry you too? he asks.
His comment made me blush a bit, but I was quick to cover it up.
What does he think of me?
Does he think I am a weakling?
I've got to show this old man that I am much stronger than he is.
Look at the one who is speaking.
I am 5'2" with a pretty fragile body to go with it. If there were a huge breeze right now, I'm sure it could sweep me off my feet.
And here I am, comparing myself to a 61 woman with a body covered with muscles all over. He might be old, but he sure does have his sports gear on, unlike me, who can't even run for a good ten minutes without fainting.
"Back to earth with you," his deep voice interrupted me.
"Did you hear what I said?" he asks.
"Uhmm, sorry, sir, I say, trying to avoid his gaze.
"I said, I don't want you getting lost out here, and our car must be waiting, so let's hurry," he said with a slight frown on his face.
He turned around and started heading for the exit, and true to his words, I had to literally jog to keep up with him.
This man is beaten. After all this stressful travel, he still has the energy to walk like this.
Soon enough, we were standing outside.
A man came to us, and the two greeted.
It's like they have known each other for a while or something. But who am I to ask? So I just stood there, watching them talk in a language I had never spoken before.
Talking about awkward!
He took the luggage from him and led the way.
"Shall we?" he says, turning to me.
Before I could answer, he grabbed my hands and dragged me with him.
What's with him today? It's like the plane has messed up with his head or something.
I'm not some small kid, but he's being so overprotective. He's being such a dad.
We finally reached the car, and the man had already loaded our luggage.
"Get in," he says, opening the door to me.
I grabbed the handle of the Hilux and tried to boost myself to enter, and I felt his hands on my hips, lifting me up to the car.
Creepy much!!! Did he think that I couldn't get in by myself or what?
He closed the door and went ahead to enter the passenger's seat.
I turned my head away from them—him precisely—to the window.
I'm taking a good look at civilization because, in the next few hours, I will be away from all this for three weeks.
Goodness knows what I have gotten myself into, but here I am.
Slowly, I started drifting off to sleep, leaving the human world all to itself.
