Chapter 57 Her Masquerade

Sean Elijah Dela Fuente's P.O.V (Part 4) • March 13, 2020
She seems distant to me, I'm sure of that. And she's uncomfortable around me. Earlier this morning, she didn't even opened up about herself. What she did was just ask about what happened. She can't keep an eye contact to me.
Tsk. What would I expect? I am the one who reject her before.
“So? What happened?” she asked.
"You were in the bar. I just saw you going to the comfort room being unable to move because of those guys."
“I drank a lot last night. I didn't remember anything,” she said. “Did something happened? And who are those guys you're talking about?”
I sipped on my coffee first before I stared at her completely. "They are 'The Hawk'. An underground gang who happens to be our enemy. It's better if you didn't remember anything. You've just heard their secret."
“Are they after me already?” she asked. "Tell me, are they dangerous?"
“They are.” I simply said. She expaled a deep sigh before turning her gaze at me.
“Thank you for helping me last night. You are right that it's better if I don't know anything, so I won't bother asking you again.”
I furrowed. She's not even going to ask me? My eyes landed at the coffee I made for her. I'm sure she likes black coffe—
“Oh. I don't drink black coffee anymore. I prefer it with milk,” she casually said. "I'll just wash the dishes before I go."
“Don't bother. Just prepare and I'll take you home.” My forehead creased as I observed her.
A lot had change about her, huh? It's making me pissed. She looks independent now. I should be glad, but I am not. I always want her to depend on me like what she used to.
“I can go by myself. I already disturbed you,” she insisted but I gave her a cold glare. She's refusing me now?
“Just follow, Rielle. You don't know who are looking for you. 'The Hawk' are already making their way to hunt you down.” I reminded her. She bit her lips and just nodded before she went back to the room and changed clothes.
And she doesn't want to tell me what happened to her! Is she really pretending? Does she loathe me? I want to hear her reasons but I don't want to force her into telling me.
She was silent the whole ride and didn't glanced at me. It really bothers me that she's like this. She always tell me everything's in her mind. But it was before. I really need to cope up with this woman.
I gotta go. Thank you, Sean,” she whispered but I heard that. She knows me but she's pretending. She doesn't want me in her life, that what I think it is.
But I still keep an eye on her. I asked her brother, William Rivera, that I will guard his sister. He asked numerous questions that I timidly answers. I don't want to tell him personally about my connection before to his sister. He can figure it out himself.
He was fuming mad while we're going to his sister's condo. He's with his girlfriend that's at the backseat and she's drunk. William kept calm and composed as we entered the unit. I knew that Rielle will look surprised and I want to smirk while seeing her reaction.
“Hey, sis! Might if we'll sleep here for tonight?” William said as soon as we're in front of the door. She smiled and opened the door widely. She looks shock as I also entered the room.
“I didn't know that your brother is the famous Aragon William Rivera.” I want to bait her and show me that she still remembers me. I don't want her pretending like this. I hate it.
“Yeah. Didn't know you researched about me.” She showed me a smirk which I arch my left brow.
“I should know about you. I just helped a 'stranger' from those dangerous people.”
She's good at her game. Then, I'll play with this masquerade of her.
“What do you mean?” Her smirk faded as she eyed me intently. “Aside from partying last night, did I do something?”
“No. You passed out.” I can't hide my smirk as I said that. Somehow, I'm enjoying this. “How is that?” She bit her lips and looked away from me. She knew she was trapped already. “I am not a fool, Rielle. Don't you dare lie to me again. I won't buy that.”
I want to see her get pissed. She's hiding her own emotions. She should ask me about what happened. I knew she's curious and she has a lot of questions in her mind.
She glared at me. That's it Rielle... Her blue eyes have those glints that made her shred tears. I pursed my lips as I stared back. “What do you want me to do?” she asked. “Do I need to remember those dangerous gangsters and let myself traumatized by how they almost killed me? Do you want that?!”
“Rielle.” I mumbled.
“No. I shouldn't have remember what happened but because you opened it up, I remember it again. Those guys shoots bullets on me that it almost killed me!”
“What bullets are you talking about, Rielle?” I sighed.
It was William with his authoritative voice. Rielle looks nervous but she still told his brother about what happened last night. And as expected, she was scolded.
I already knew it. It was William's plan not to talk to her first. He want it to be Rielle. And it was also William's plan that I will be his sister's bodyguard. I was just the one who suggested it.
“Elijah,” William called.
“Yeah?”
“Keep an eye on her. Don't let her go to parties without my approval. That's an order.”
“Sure.” I even nodded as I focus my eyes to Rielle. She doesn't want this. She even parted her soft lips as she glanced at my direction that made me smirk again.
She won't regret it being with me.

I've been trying my best to have her trust again. And now, I'm slowly having that. She casually talks to me now, unlike before.
“Aside from being my brother's friend, why did you agree?” I was so focused watching a movies when she asked that. We're in her living room as per her request. We drink those soda in her refrigerator and eat the pizza that she ordered.
“I'm bored,” I simply said and shrugged.
“You're what? Really, Sean?”
I chuckled while looking at her. “It's nice to hear it when you call my name.” She arched her brow which made me chuckle again.
“I am a freelance businessman. I have my secretary who's doing my job. So I can do what I want. I have important things to manage other than my business so don't worry about me being your bodyguard.”
I have someone handling my business. Aside from dad who's not that busy, I trust my secretary and I have someone who'll attend meetings for me. I'm not that rich compared to my other friends, but I can live with it. And my great grandsons/daughters, will still inherit it in the future.
She nodded. I fished out something on my pocket before I showed it to her.
“Wear this first.” I muttered as I showed her a necklace. I leaned closer and put it on her neck. “Don't you ever lose it.”
“Why?”
I moved away as I stared at her neck. “It has a tracking device which connected on my phone. You should always have it,” I explained. “And also...” I looked up to her. I wanted to ask about 'us', but it feels like she's not ready. I just shrugged that thought off and shook my head. “Nothing... I have things that you need to remember.”
We talked about things and how's life. She started treating me as her friend. She also opened up being comfortable with me. She even suggested that we could be great friends.
Tsk, but I'm not her friend. She was my best friend who always there for me. But I just took advantage of her.
“She was my best friend but she always considered herself as my fling... But then she also left. I will look for her.” I said but it was late when I realized that it's her that I'm pertaining to.
“I thought she left you? W-why would you want to look for her?” she asked. She's curious. I know she had an idea that it was her.
“I still want to know something...” I uttered. That's what I said. Nothing more, nothing less. I just want to know her reasons to why she left. Because she's not the only one who felt hurt. I am too.
I want her to acknowledge me. That I didn't forget about her. But I don't want to force her. I don't even know that if she's still hurting or what. If she moved on already or not.
“Hey, you still up? We still need to make your rules and conditions.” I asked, chuckled when I glanced at her.
She looks tipsy as her eyes landed on me. I just stared back at her with the same ferocity. Suddenly, she caressed my face which send an electrifying feeling on me.
“No n-need for that, you're my f-friend now... I trust you.” She went closer to me. My jaw clenched as I hold her back. “You're so handsome. You looked like my first love.” She chuckled and moved her body closer to me. She put her head on my chest. I'm sure she can hear my heart beating. Only beating for her.
“Arabella... Get off me.” She pouted when I said that. I hissed under my breath. “Do friends do this?” I asked.
But she caressed my cheeks before her hands went to my shoulders. I muttered a curse as I felt her lips on my jaw and her breath is fanning my cheeks. I f*cking need self-control! D*mn!
I heaved a sigh as I hugged her waist and carry her to her room. She was clingy and muttered my name softly but she's now sleeping while I carry her. I manage to lay her down to the mattress and kiss her temple. I covered her whole body and I stared at her gorgeous face. She's half Spanish, based from my gathered data about her. I kiss her both cheeks first before I mumbled "Good night," to her.
