"Don't force him, everyone. Even if he doesn't have money to buy a gift, he doesn't need to stay as a son-in-law in the Thompson family! If he had the money to buy gifts, he wouldn't be living as a son-in-law in the Thompson family." Mrs. Laelia spoke up, her voice sounding bitter and uncomfortable.
"Mother is right! But even if he doesn't have money, he should borrow from Emma to buy a gift. But here... Ha ha, let's not mention those men who always cling to women's apron strings," Mike continued.

"That's true! Emma, this is your fault. If your husband doesn't have money, you should give him some. When you marry, you have to support your husband and give him money to spend." Even Mr. Blair, Mike's father, joined in the mockery.

The whole family, including my wife's uncle, took turns laughing and mocking, trampling on my family.

Mr. Kurt Thompson ignored them; he had no intention of stopping them at all.

I was used to being ridiculed by the Thompson family, and although it might have made me uncomfortable before, I didn't care anymore.

I silently thought to myself, "Continue mocking me. Otherwise, you won't have the chance to ridicule me in the future!"

But...

Emma and Mrs. Brebeca's faces turned pale with anger.

Both mother and daughter realized that while the Blair family appeared to mock me, they were mocking Emma.

Mocking Emma was no different from mocking Mrs. Brebeca and Mr. Axel. Emma and Mrs. Brebeca glared at me in anger.

They believed that I was the cause of all this.

Even Mr. Axel frowned discontentedly, looking unhappy as he glanced at me.

"Hey! Andrew, what do you have in your hand? Is it a birthday gift?"

Mike looked at the box in my hand.

"Everyone, look, there seems to be a fast delivery invoice sticker on the box!" A customer exclaimed.

"Fast delivery?"

Mike acted as if he had discovered something new and said, "Did you buy the gift online?"

"He couldn't afford to buy a gift. So, of course, he had to buy it online," Mrs. Laelia mocked.

"That's right!" Mike chuckled and nodded.

"You're right, I bought a gift."

Seeing them looking down on me like that, I decided to give the antique bowl in my hand to Mr. Kurt Thompson to make those who looked down on me feel ashamed.

"Did you buy a birthday gift online?" Emma frowned unhappily and glanced at me, asking softly.

"Yes!" I nodded seriously.

"I told you that I would prepare a gift, so why did you ruin it?" Emma blamed me.

She, like the others, felt that the gift I bought had no value and that giving it to Mr. Kurt would only make me lose face and feel embarrassed.

She thought I could lose face alone, but she did not want to be associated with it.

Mrs. Brebeca glared at me, and her face showed disgust.

I bought the gift online, and the price would naturally be cheaper than buying directly from a store.

How could I take it out and give it to someone else as a gift? According to her, I would be scolded by Mr. Kurt. If we were not in a crowded place, maybe she would have cursed at me already.

"Andrew, open the box so everyone can see what the gift is!" Mike shouted.

I ignored Mike and walked up to Mr. Kurt Thompson, presenting the whole paper box, and said, "Grandpa, I hurriedly prepared this gift, so it's not of great value. Today, I want to give you an antique bowl."

Mr. Kurt Thompson glanced at the paper box in my hand and found that it was just a regular paper box without any eye-catching design, so he showed his disdain.

"Either you or Emma can give the gift. Emma has already given me a birthday gift, so you don't need to give one."

Mr. Kurt Thompson did not accept the paper box in my hand, and he told me not to give it.

In reality, he just despised my gift. To him, receiving a gift bought online was like receiving rubbish, not accepting it directly.

"Grandpa, look, it's an antique bowl."

I opened the paper box to show Mr. Kurt Thompson the antique bowl inside.

Mr. Kurt Thompson glanced briefly at the antique bowl, furrowed his brows, and felt slightly unhappy inside. "You couldn't afford to buy a genuine antique item to give me, and that's fine. But did you randomly buy this inferior old bowl online just to see me accept rubbish from you? Or do you think I'm a beggar and need this old bowl?"
"Grandpa, this is a genuine antique bowl of real value..."
"Do you not understand human language? Quickly, take your bowl and leave. Don't bother me while I'm eating!" Mr. Kurt Thompson frowned when he saw my clueless face and could not stand my presence any longer.
