17

It felt like the sun was rising from the west.

I pondered for a moment and then went to open the door.

I wanted to see what Emma was plotting.

I saw Emma holding a box of fried noodles in her hand.

"Just now I noticed that you didn't eat anything before leaving, so on the way back, I bought a box of fried noodles for you," she said. Emma smiled and handed me the box of fried noodles.

I took the box and politely said, "Thank you."

"Come to the dining room and eat, your parents have also returned, and they have something to discuss with you," Emma said with a smile.

I knew right away that if there wasn't something they needed help with, Emma wouldn't be so kind to me. I nodded in agreement and followed Emma to the dining room.

As I appeared, Mrs. Brebeca nudged Mr. Axel, who was sitting next to her. Mr. Axel cleared his throat and said, "Andrew, come sit with me!"

I nodded and then sat across from them, placing the box of fried noodles on the table without opening it to eat immediately.

Before going to my wife's house, I had returned to my parent's place and hidden the antique bowl there. Conveniently, I also had two plates of noodles cooked by Lily.

I glanced briefly at Mr. Axel, then looked at Mrs. Brebeca, and finally remained silent, waiting for them to speak.

"Emma, pour a glass of water for Andrew!" Mr. Axel glanced at me, then instructed Emma, who was about to sit down, to pour water.

"No need!" I coldly replied, "Just say it, what's the matter?"

Mr. Axel cleared his throat again and slowly said, "Well, tonight Mike and Mrs. Laelia intentionally targeted you at the birthday party and made you feel uncomfortable."

I was originally going to say that the person who made me uncomfortable was not Mike and Mrs. Laelia, but Mrs. Brebeca and Emma. However, I thought Mr. Axel had no intention of helping me with any resentment but rather had a task for me. Otherwise, the attitudes of Mr. Axel and Emma wouldn't have changed so quickly.

"Dad, what's the matter, just tell me straight!" If Mr. Axel's attitude wasn't bad, my tone became more gentle.

"Well..." Mr. Axel sat up straight and said, "Earlier, you angered my father, but he likes your antique bowl. I think you should give him that bowl. If he's happy, he won't dislike you anymore."

"I already gave the antique bowl to Grandpa during his birthday party, but he didn't want it. Why are you asking for it now? It's impossible! Besides, I don't gain anything by giving that antique bowl to Grandpa!" I replied.

"Why wouldn't it be a good idea?" Before Mr. Axel could continue, Mrs. Brebeca interjected.

She continued, "If you give that bowl to my father-in-law, of course, it will make him happy. Once he's happy, he will leave the majority of his wealth to our family in his will."

"So, your goal is for you to benefit. That's ridiculous," I sneered.

"You also benefit from it. As long as you give the bowl to my father-in-law, you won't have to repay the debt you owe to our family any more," Mrs. Brebeca said in a harsh tone.

"Mr. Rodriguez said that my antique bowl is a priceless treasure. The small amount of money I owe you is nothing compared to its value!" I objected to Mrs. Brebeca's words.

"You..." Mrs. Brebeca's face darkened, and she said, "Hmph! For someone who knows the value, your bowl is a priceless treasure. But for someone who doesn't know antiques, your bowl is just an old bowl without any value!"

"Andrew, listen to my mommy's words. Give the ancestral bowl to Grandpa. If you agree, the two million dollars you owe my family will be forgiven," Emma sat silently next to them, unable to speak.

Her voice sounded cold and a little impatient.

"No need! I will immediately repay the two million dollars to you!" After saying that, I took out my mobile phone and opened the banking app.

"Read out your account number, and I will transfer the money to you right away!"

"Do you have the money?" Emma expressed doubt.

Mrs. Brebeca and Mr. Axel exchanged glances, suspicion evident on their faces.

"What is your account number?" I didn't pay attention to their doubts and continued to ask.

Emma gave me a sidelong glance and said, "Okay, let me check if you have the money. Listen carefully, my account number is 8222..."

As I listened, I entered Emma's bank account number into the transfer section of the mobile app.

At this moment, Mr. Axel, Mrs. Brebeca, and Emma were all staring at me.

I slowly entered the amount of two million dollars into the transfer section and pressed the "Confirm" button.

"Alright, wait for the receipt notification."

I looked up and glanced at Emma.

Although Emma still had doubts about me, she took out her mobile phone and waited for the message notification.
