At this moment, the girl was looking at the lake, but because the streetlight was too dim, I couldn't see her face.
Just then, a gust of wind blew, causing her hair and dress to flutter.
Her long hair swirled, and her dress moved.
It was already past eleven o'clock, and there was no one around except for me.
Thinking of something, I suddenly shuddered.
Oh damn! Why would someone be standing outside the railing in a red dress in the middle of the night? Could this person be a demon?
But I don't believe in demons in this world.
Maybe I'm just scaring myself.
There are no demons in this world, only science. But if this person is a demon, then what?
To me, humans are much scarier than demons!
Suddenly! The girl in the red dress stretches her arms out as if she wants to jump into the lake.
This is not okay!
I realize something is wrong.
Without much thought, I quickly stand up and run towards the girl.
"Hey, you can't commit suicide!"
I shouted suddenly, startling the girl and causing her to slip and fall forward. In an instant, I swiftly grab her hand, preventing her from falling into the lake.
"Damn it!"
At the same time, the girl's hand makes a cracking sound.
She is pulled backward by me and crashes into my chest.
I quickly extend my arms to tightly hold her.
The scent of her body immediately enters my nose.
Whether it's the scent of her body or perfume, it makes me feel very comfortable. While the girl is still in shock, a sharp pain shoots through her arm, causing her to grimace.
She realizes that she is being embraced by a stranger and immediately struggles, shouting, "Let go of me, you pervert!"
It is then that I become aware that my hand is touching her chest, so I quickly release my grip.
The girl quickly moves away from me a few meters and then turns around slowly with an angry expression.
Thanks to the streetlights, I can now clearly see her face.
"It's you?" Both of us exclaim in surprise.
We are both taken aback.
This girl is Harris, the person I helped on the subway when she was being harassed.
"Are you feeling unhappy so wanted to jump into the lake?" I ask after regaining my composure.
"Unhappy? Jump into the lake?" Harris asks in confusion.
"Did you think I was standing on the railing because I wanted to jump into the lake? No, that's not it. I just wanted to enjoy the night breeze and train my courage at the same time."
"Ha ha! I misunderstood. I thought you wanted to commit suicide," I say, embarrassed, and smiling.
"I haven't lived enough to do that. How could I commit suicide?" Harris chuckles.
When she is about to raise her hand to brush her hair, she suddenly feels pain and finds that she can't lift her arm.
"My arm... It won't move, it hurts so much!" Harris grimaces in pain.
I furrow my brows as well. When I held her arm earlier, I heard a bone crack. It seems like I was too forceful with her.
"Let me examine your arm!"
Harris nodded, she seemed to trust me a lot.
I reached out and gently held Harris' shoulder, then lightly touched it.
My movements were gentle, but Harris let out a slight cry of pain.
Seeing that, I said, "Just bear with it for a moment. Your arm is dislocated, and I need to reset it for you."
"Or we could go to the hospital..." Before Harris could finish speaking, I swiftly and deftly twisted her forearm outward and then inward.
The joint in Harris' arm made a sound, and she was in such pain that she broke out in a cold sweat, continuously moaning in agony.
However, because my actions were too fast, she only felt the pain for a moment.
"You should try moving your arm now." I let go of Harris' hand and smiled.
Harris cautiously lifted her left arm. After confirming that her left arm was no longer in pain, she felt confident and vigorously moved her arm.
"Wow! My arm is moving! And it doesn't hurt anymore!" Harris was excited, her smile blooming, and her eyes filled with astonishment.
I also smiled.
The rich son-in-law system gifted me with healing abilities, so I decided to try resetting Harris' joint, and unexpectedly, it worked miraculously.
"Are you a doctor?" Harris curiously asked.
"No, I just have some knowledge about medicine." I shook my head in response.
Harris nodded, smiling.
At that moment, I suddenly felt a bit shy and said, "Because your dislocated joint was swelling, I will prepare a cream to reduce the swelling for you."
Harris shook her head in refusal. "No need. I'm studying medicine. After I go back home, I'll find some ointment and apply it myself."
"Wow! Turns out I was showing off my skills to an expert."
