Chapter 53

The following day, Carl walked into her office with Dan walking at her back.
Getting into her office, she looked at her time.
"It's still too early. I have got to do something that will enable me to relieve Sarah of her job in this fashion house." She said to herself shaking her head.
She thought of Dylan.
"You have been so cruel to me with that bitch of yours. You pleaded with me not to relieve her of her job, which I accepted, not knowing that you were having an affair with her." She said to herself. "You were really cruel to me. I can't imagine you planned what happened yesterday with your bitch."
She thought of how the last day went for her and how she wallowed in her pain.
"I won't cry for you anymore." She said to herself.
She heard a knock on the door and sighed.
"You may come in." She said and Naomi walked in.
"Miss!" She called.
"Yes, Naomi." She answered.
"I got a call from Sarah saying that she is going to be late today," Naomi said and Carl smiled.
"Why didn't she let me know?" She asked.
"She told me that she didn't want to speak to you when you are angry with her," Naomi said.
"What!" Carl exclaimed smiling.
"Yes, Miss," Naomi said.
"I had made her promise to see me today but..." Carl said and started laughing.
"Miss!" Naomi called.
"Get me, Clara," Carl said making Naomi worried.
"But Sarah is going to do the job well," Naomi said.
"I just said you should send me Clara," Carl said and Naomi left.
Few minutes later, Carl heard a knock on her door and allowed them in.
Naomi entered the office with Clara.
"Good morning, Miss," Clara said walking into the office.
Carl looked at Naomi.
"You may leave." She said and Naomi took a bow and left.
Carl looked at Clara and pointed to the chair in front of her.
"You may have your seat." She said and Clara nodded her head and sat on the chair.
"I have a job for you," Carl said.
"Alright, Miss," Clara said.
Carl flipped her head back and gave Clara the paper.
"You can do the job with Margaret but not Sarah." She said.
Clara looked at Carl surprised.
"Miss." She called acting surprised.
"Yes do not go against what I said unless you also will be relieved of your job," Carl said.
Clara looked widely at Carl.
"Is she going to relieve Sarah of her job? This isn't what I want." Clara thought to herself.
"Alright, Miss. The job will be perfectly done." She said and left the office.
An hour later, Sarah knocked on the office door.
"You may come in." Carl said smiling.
Sarah entered the office and greeted.
"Good morning Miss. I am sorry for being late. I..." She was talking when Carl cut in.
"Do not worry, you may take your leave," Carl said.
"Miss!" Sarah called.
"Yes, you may leave," Carl said.
"The job?" Sarah asked.
"It has been given to someone else. You may leave." Carl said and Sarah left.
Carl began to laugh.
She placed a call to her secretary who immediately picked up.
"I would like you to write a letter stating that I have relieved Sarah of her duty," Carl said.
"Alright, Miss. It will be brought to you in ten minutes." The secretary said.
"I will be expecting it," Carl said and ended the call.
She began to laugh as she remembered how Dylan pleaded with her for Sarah's sake.
"Your love is going to leave here." She said.
Minutes later, her secretary walked into her office with the letter which she stamped.
"Place a call to her office and let them know that I will need her present at my office in 3 hours' time," Carl said, and the secretary nodded, leaving the letter with Carl.
Carl brought out her phone and scrolled through the pictures.
She saw a picture of Dylan which she took while he was smiling.
"I don't know why my heart still beats for you." She said. "Maybe it's because I just got to know of your betrayal last night."
She closed her eyes and smiled remembering the time she and Dylan spent together.
She tapped her head when she remembered how he tried making her like other men.
"I was foolish to think he could love me. He could have made me know that his love works with me. He made me a fool." She said. "I don't believe I can ever love again."
She walked to the little restroom in her office and washed her face.
"I don't have to be sad. I should just forget about him." She said to herself, walking back to her seat.
Hours later, she heard a knock on the door.
"You may come in." She said and Sarah walked in smiling.
"You called for me, Miss," Sarah said.
"Yes, I did," Carl said.
"May I have my seat?" She asked but Carl shook her head.
"No, you can't." She said, and Sarah nodded, smiling.
"Alright, Miss," Sarah said and Carl smiled.
She brought up the envelope letter and gave it to Sarah.
"Here!" She said handing the letter to Sarah.
"Alright, Miss," Sarah said smiling as she thought it was a new job.
"Before opening it, I would like you to sign her," Carl said, pointing to a page of a book.
Sarah didn't wait to read what was in the book but just signed.
"Thank you," Sarah said after signing and opened the letter.
She was shocked to see what was in the letter.
"Miss!" She called, and Carl smiled, nodding her head.
"You can't get everything you want. Get out or I will call the security." Carl said and Sarah walked out with tears on her face.
Naomi walked to her as she slowly walked to her table to clear it.
"Why this behavior?" She asked Sarah.
Sarah didn't answer her but gave her the envelope.
Naomi was also shocked by what she saw.
"A sack letter?" Naomi asked shocked.
Sarah looked at her and nodded.
"We can go to the boss to ask her reason," Naomi said holding Sarah's hand.
"It's of no use. I have signed already." Sarah said and Naomi was left speechless.
Clara looked at Sarah and was moved with compassion.
"Only for Dylan who chose to betray her," Clara muttered.
She got up from her chair and walked to hug Sarah.
"I am sorry." She said hugging Sarah.
Sarah looked at her and shook her head.
"You aren't meant to be sorry. It's Miss Carl." Sarah said. "I will miss you so much."
All the members in the office all embraced Sarah as she packed her things and left the office.
Naomi sighed as she watched Sarah leave.
"What could be her reason for sending her?" Naomi asked herself and decided to go ask Carl what her reason was but on getting there, she didn't meet her.
"She has gone," Naomi said. "She sent away one of her faithful workers."
.....
Carl decided to go to the fashion store so as not to show that she cared for doing what she did as she felt hurt when she gave Sarah the letter.
Getting to the fashion store, she walked into her office.
Helen walked into her office.
" Welcome Miss," Helen said.
"I would like to be left alone," Carl said, and Helen nodded leaving the office.
Carl placed her head down as she continued thinking.
She remembered how she got him a house and how she chose to make the house only his.
"He used me to get what he wanted. I am a fool for believing him." She said.
She got up and began to pace the office.
"It's ringing in my head." She said remembering all the words he had said to her.
She remembered her parents coming to her house to speak against him.
"I never stood for my parents then." She said smiling.
She thought of how her parents would feel when they get to know about this.
"They can't get to know." She said to herself then smiled.
Minutes later, she walked out of the office and called for Helen.
"Yes, Miss," Helen said walking to her.
"Thank you for caring for this store." She said and Helen bowed.
"I would be going." She said.
She left the fashion store with Dan walking behind her.
She entered her car and drove home.
"Welcome Miss." Melinda greeted seeing her and she waved her.
"You came quite early," Melinda said, and she nodded, going to sit on a couch.
Carl raised her ring finger up and smiled seeing the ring.
Kamela came out of the kitchen.
"Welcome Miss." She said and Carl smiled.
Kamela walked back into the kitchen and walked out with a plate of rice.
"I would be back." She said and went back to the kitchen.
She brought a cup of water and served Carl.
Carl sighed, looking at the food, and ate it.
She waited and relaxed a bit then called for Kamela.
"What about Joel?" She asked, and Kamela smiled, moving her hair to the back of her ear.
"He came here today." She said and Carl smiled.
"To see you?" She asked.
"Yes, also to see Robert," Kamela said, smiling.
"Speaking of Robert, where is he?" Carl asked.
"He left with Joel. I got to know that Joel placed Spencer, Robert's elder brother as my guard." Kamela said and Carl smiled.
"Spencer is married with a child but still diligent in his work and family," Melinda said, and Kamela nodded.
Carl smiled upon hearing this.
They spoke about other various things.
