Chapter 26
Up above a cliff, while the moon showers light in the night, the wind blew calmly.
“Blue, what are you planning?”
“I don’t really know what I’m doing right now. All I know is that we need her to return, Red.” Blue responded while looking up at the moon from the edge of a cliff.
“Why do you want to return so badly, Blue? We were wrong. We betrayed the Creator.”
“I realize my mistakes now, Red; maybe we too could ask for forgiveness.”
“Do you really think that we will be granted forgiveness?”
“If I have to die, I will.”
The wind then seemed to blow unusually, birds' shrills echoed the night, the clouds above thickened with darkness and yet the sky was clear
“Blue!” the other male gasped when a powerful wave of wind blasted toward their location.
Trees and anything on its way were ravaged in a glimpse.
“What’s happening?” Red cried.
“Prepare yourself.”
Then there was a lashing, painful sound, and wings that appeared to be immaculate yet worn out and torn spread out from their backs.
“It’s happening.” Blue gritted his teeth.
Both kicked off the ground of the earth, and up they soared to great heights. From there, several yards below, near the place where they kept the humans, a blue-white glow emanates, terminating everything around it in devastation. And if not stopped, in just a few moments, lives would be wasted.
They flew instantly in the direction of the light, and by the time they got there, a spectacle of marvel and fear played in their eyes.
They had seen and felt such immense power before.
“Red, get the people as far away as you can. Until this is over.”
Red flew fast to the village, not even glancing back once.
“Haya!” Blue called from above.
But Haya had already succumbed to the rage inside her.
As he turned his head up, the moon was almost blue, and he reckoned that this night would be the night they feared to come.
He took a deep, long breath before diving down with ominous speed, grunting in pain as he forced his way into the blue-white light surrounding Haya, which wobbled with his thrusting force.
The impact of their collision almost ripped everything apart—his skin, his wings, and his body, barely holding on.
“STOP HAYA!” He grumbled.
“HUMANS ARE MORE THAN MONSTERS! RIDICULOUS CREATURES!” Haya growled, her hair turned blue with white strands, her eyes glowed bright blue, and a white glowing light surrounds her whole body. She was beyond furious.
And lying on her arms were the remains of the little girl, which Blue knew was the kid of the woman she asked to make Haya a dress to wear. The kid, though, looked untroubled in Haya’s arms.
Around them, the field of grass just fizzed away as the force of light from Haya passed through it.
“HAYA!” Blue called again but was startled by horrified cries from ahead.
Approximately two yards from them, four humans hovered in the air as if being hanged by an unseen force. Dreadful looks surmounted all over their faces as the intensity of the force slinking through them fired up, drying out their lives from every inch of their bodies.
“Blue!” someone called from afar.
A gushing metal gleamed against the light of the moon, striking fast at Haya.
“NO!! GOLD, STOP!” Blue, in a very weak state, willed his wings to full size, covering Haya from an incoming threat.
The one called Gold was hurled several feet away. “This is impossible.” He mumbled, out of breath.
Inside, blood started dripping from Blue’s wings and his tearing-up body.
Blue’s eyes widened as the drops of blood coming from him made holes in the force of light covering them; the color of the light was dying out, and the intensity started wearing out.
“I finally found you. Tonight could be my last, but you need to live.”
With little strength left, Blue risked his last option. He swooped up Haya with all that was left in him and flew to the lake where they first met.
Blue was panting so hard that he wavered even at the smallest stroke of air.
“I pray this works.” He whispered desperately before falling to the depths of the crystal waters of the lake.
The fall made the waters enraged, whirling and ravaging whatever came near them.
Down they went, deeper and deeper. His blood thickened with the water, devouring every bit of Haya’s rage until everything fell silent, as if nothing had happened.
Under the water, Haya finally gained her senses back and winced to see the male who saved her in front of her, smiling weakly.
Haya panicked at the thought of drowning because she never really learned how to swim.
But the male cupped her face with his left hand and sealed her lips with his. For a moment, she calmed down, and white strands of light swirled around them. Then they started falling.
After what felt like an eternity of falling, Haya felt cold. She even thought she was dead. But a feeling of something surging in her throat brought her up, and she threw up. A lot of water came out from inside her. She was coughing excessively.
The cold breeze of the air made her gulp deeply; every inch of her body rejoiced with the amount of air being inhaled inside. She made it. She’s alive.
Still unsteady, she stood up and was astounded by the sight of Blue with Khira on his arm.
She immediately knelt down beside Khira and touched the little human with a trembling hand.
“She’s warm!” Haya gasped in surprise. She checked Khira’s nose. “She’s breathing!” Haya broke into sobs.
“Wow! You never even cared to check if I was alive.” The male coughed blood that shaken Haya.
“I never thought you’d be dead. You know!” Haya felt sorry and ashamed.
“It’s fine. As long as you’re alive.”
“What?”
“So, I suppose you have no memories of whatever happened.”
“What happened anyway?” Haya asked innocently. “I just remembered Khira dying because of humans!”
“Long story!” Blue grunted to stand up.
“I’m really sorry if I tried to escape.""It's my fault!”
“Yes, it’s all your fault.”
“WHAT?!”
But even before Blue could retaliate, there were screams. And laughter. And unfamiliar sounds everywhere.
Their jaws dropped to see a very different place from where they were before that sensation of falling. Blue clearly remembered that they were drowning in the lake.
There were humans, but they were too different from what they had known. Everyone was looking at them.
Haya stood up to make sure that she was not dreaming. But Blue immediately pulled her behind him, ready for defense at any moment.
“Princess Haya!” a sweet little voice called from behind.
Haya turned her head back to see Khira, who was so lively and happily holding a floating circle in her hand.
“Khira!” Haya rushed towards her in fear of what that object might do to the little human.
“Get rid of that. It may hurt you!” Haya instructed, took Khira’s hand, and walked back to Blue.
But when she lifted her head up to see Blue, she saw his face filled with anguish.
“What?” Haya asked.
But even before Blue could answer back, pairs of cold metals were circled on their wrists and blankets were wrapped around them, and after some kicking and punching and struggling, Haya, Blue, and the little one, Khira, rode in a vehicle that was very unknown to them.
