Chapter 19 Prom's Final Preparations

Days passed, the sports meet ended. The cheerleading squad of St Paula Academy was still the undefeated champion. They also bagged the championship in the track events, despite the track team only had ten members during the sports meet. They got the second place in volleyball both for boys and girls team and swimming, and fourth place in soccer. Over all they are declared the second place team. The school is happy with the result considering that they weren't able to compete with the other games due to lack of players.
After the sports meet, came the midterm exam for the high school department. They pushed the exam on a later date due to the cheating/scheming incident by Miss Jimenez, Coach Bradley, Wilson and the involved students. Since Miss Jimenez, Coach Bradley and Wilson was fired on the spot, they had to replaced this three and create new sets of exam (Miss Jimenez was the head of the high school department and checker of the key test papers). It was set for two days, five subjects per day. The exam days went by smoothly.
Libby gave a sigh of relief after she passed her test paper for the last subject on their exam day. Finally, she can have a breather. Now that their exam is over, she only has the Prom to think about. They're already on the final stage for their preparations - schedule for students volunteers already distributed, final rehearsal for the performer's already is already set, decorations and set up already started.
"I'm so tired," Libby yawned.
"Me, too," said Mimi. "I had to pull an all nighter for History and Physics."
"My head aches," complained Dan. "That Physics test was just brutal. I don't know if I'll have a passing score for that."
"At least the test was over," said May. "Now, we just have to wait for a few days and it's party time." She smiled. She's happy today. Last night, her gown for the ball was delivered to their house. And it is fabulous. The design that she and her mom requested was done perfectly. Thankfully Miss Torres, a well known gown designer was able to squeeze her in her schedule. She can just imagine herself wearing her gown.
"Yeah, party time," Jon agreed.
"Let's head to the gym guys for the final preparations and decorations. Let's wait for the other members of the committee there." said Libby while walking ahead.
Her friends tagged along.
At the gym, the head of the events coordination update them of the ongoing schedule. They have to finish the decorations for the stage and entrance today. And the other parts, they need to finish in two days. Final rehearsal will be held tomorrow. As Libby looked around, she can already visualize the outcome. She, Mimi, Dan and Kate helped with the stage decorations while Nikki, Jon, May, Ashley and two students from Grade 10 Faith helped with the entrance decorations. The rest started with the balloons and stars and other things that they will place all over the gym tomorrow. The Headmaster arrived and call on Libby.
"I've already made an excuse letter for all the committee members for two days starting tomorrow so we can finish up with the decorations. The other teachers will help out later. And those that have vacant classed for two days will drop by here tomorrow," he informed Libby.
"Thank you Headmaster," said Libby graciously. "That will be a big help. Also, would like to inform you that all the deliveries for the chairs, tables will be tomorrow, flowers will be delivered the night before and will be received by the decorations committee."
"Okay, so no problem so far?"
"Yes Headmaster. No problem so far."
"Good, good," the Headmaster said approvingly. "Okay, get back to work and I will drop by later again to bring everyone refreshments."
"Did you hear that everyone? Headmaster De Jesus will treat us for snack later. Yoo-hoo!"
Everybody cheered.
The Headmaster smiled then waved while walking away.
"Okay guys, let's push to do more until six o'clock. That's two hours left for today. We are already excused for the class for the next two days but please ensure that you will be here helping, I will check all your attendance. If you need anything just approach me. With the speed we are going I'm confident that we will finish earlier than schedule. So we'll still have some time for beauty rest before Prom night," Libby said to the group smiling. "Back to work guys."
After a while, the pizza delivery arrived and everyone ate. By six o'clock they've accomplished many things and are getting ready to go home. Just then, Libby saw a shadow lurking at the gym's entrance. Her heart raced. It's Coach Bradley! She ran to the entrance to confirm her what she saw but as she arrived, no one's there, not even a shadow.
"Hey, Libby, what's going on?" Mimi asked. She ran after Libby.
"I saw him Mimi. Coach Bradley.."
Mimi felt chills down her spine. "Let's report this to Headmaster De Jesus. Then let's go home. Dan!" she called Dan. When he approached them, she whispered "Libby saw Coach Bradley."
Dan looked worried. "Are you sure it's him Libby?" He asked while reaching for his phone. He will send a message to his mom to fetch them.
"I saw his silhouette. I didn't saw his face but I think it's him. And when he saw me looking, he ran and disappeared."
"To be safe Dan, let's report this to Headmaster De Jesus," Mimi said. "It's better to be safe than sorry."
"I'll send an email alert. Will copy everyone involved," Libby said.
"Okay," Dan said. "My mom will pick us up. Better gather your things. She will be here in five minutes."
Libby and Mimi went back inside to get their things. Almost all of the committee members, coordinators and teachers that helped earlier were already out. Only Libby, Mimi, Dan, Kate, May, Nikki, Ashley, Jon and Martin are left. Libby decided to also tell them what she saw. Martin then decided to call his driver to bring a van so he can fit more people in and send each of them home.
"My mom is also on the way to pick Libby, Mimi, and me. Kate will drive home with Ashley," Dan said.
"Okay, so May, Nikki, and Jon, you're with me," Martin said.
They closed the gym and wait for Dan's mom and Martin's driver.
"We need to be more careful. I have this feeling that Coach Bradley is planning something," Libby said.
Dan's mom and Martin's driver arrived at the same time. Before they hopped in the car, Libby turned to her friends. "Send me a message after you got to your house guys, please."
Everyone nodded and they head home.
