Bethany stood still watching the little girl until she came close to her, standing face to face Bethany finally heaved a sigh of relief. Then, she pouted her face and scolded the girl. “Do you know how worried you made us, Jenna? why did you run off so suddenly and where on earth did you go?« Her heart was racing with panic as she scolded the little girl.
She wanted to bring the girl out for the weekend, and make it up to her for the time she wasn't there for her during the week. However, she didn't expect that the child will go missing before she could process things. Not only that, she was just a little girl, not to be called names if she was to go missing right under her gaze.
Bethany must have thought herself to be a professional designer and a great businesswoman who had worked her way to the top and stood with her principles intact for the past couple of years. However, she's never a pro when it comes to this little rascal right here; she means the whole world to her and she won't allow harm to come to get even if it means giving up her life.
With moist under her eyes lids Bethany quickly crashed to the floor as she claimed the little girl into her and in a warm hug that soothes her aching heart.
“Don't ever go so far away from me again. okay? Don't go anywhere ”.
She warned with a voice sounding a little hoarse but calm as well.
Jenna was feeling suffocated in the hug due to how hard Bethany was squeezing her. She struggled to pull herself away from the hug, then she glare at the older woman and heaved a sigh of relief.
“Miss Burnett, you should have informed me that you had the intention of squeezing the life out of me, that way I wouldn't struggle for it”.
Jenna glared at the woman disdainfully. Then, she pouted her lips slightly before saying, “I can take care of myself, can't I? You know I'm capable of doing so, so I don't want you to feel so worried about me anymore, nothing is going to happen to a cute little girl like me, don't you think?
”
She held her cheeks and swerved around dramatically while Bethany and Erica watched in awe.
how can a child like her be so mature? I can't believe my luck.
Right from when she was two years old, Jenna had assumed the maturity of an adult–She isn't the type to wait on others to do things for her, instead she helps others to do things.
Whatever Bethany was busy with work, she would bathe herself and even prepare meals since Bethany had refused to get maids for the house back abroad.
“I've had enough now, Miss Burnett. let's go for the fun games. were going to miss pit if we don't go soon”
With that, she took the lead while pulling Erica with her.
After playing all the fun games for a while, Erica got tired and ran back to Bethany, who was sitting in the shade watching and occasionally glaring at the screen of her phone like she was expecting a call.
“That girl is so troublesome, Giselle, she never gets tired of making me run along with her. I wonder what gives her so much energy ”.
Erica said breathlessly as she struggles to catch her breath after running with Jenna for so long.
Bethany merely raised her brows to gaze at her slightly before burying her eyes onto her screen once more.
“She's been laughing nonstop all day long. Can we do this more often, Bethany? She wishes to spend some time away with you. moreover, you need to step away from your shadows and give yourself a break from all of this already. Don't you.......”
Upon hearing her words, Bethany's eyes darkened almost immediately and her fingers clenched into a hard fist. Then, she slowly raised her knitted brows to look at Erica. shooting dangerous dangers at her.
She was so furious that her lower jaw shook violently as she glared at Erica. meanwhile, Erica was so engrossed in looking at the happy child on the other side of the park, that she didn't notice the darkened gaze of the woman beside her. By the time, she turned in her direction. The latter's phone suddenly rang out interrupting the tense atmosphere.
“It's done. Have you found out everything about the enterprises I sent you? Good! very good. keep me posted about the next updates”
she said after pressing the answer button.
While she was on the call, Erica took out time to study her facial expressions, and she couldn't help but feel pity for the lean figure in front of her.
The woman had a sad expression hidden under the disguise of her makeup – Her eyes were filled with undiluted anger and hatred. each step she took was only aimed at one thing–Revenge.
Although the woman has the entire city in her palm – she has lost herself to the rhythm of the world a month time ago, and now she's decided not to have the world trample upon her anymore.
I wish she would find happiness someday. my best friend has suffered so much, thank God for bringing Jenna into her life, otherwise, it would have been so fatal if she wasn't here to keep her going.
That child is such a huge blessing!
After dropping the call. Bethany glanced around and her eyes fell on Jenna, who was still playing with some kids at the other side of the amusement park.
Despite forbidding her from such plays; Jenna still prefers them more than she desires food. it's hurt Bethany a lot but she had no choice but to cooperate with her.
“Erica, make sure you watch over her this time. I'm going to the restroom for a while”
Bethany warned before she grabbed her course and went away with her brows knitted. On the other hand, Erica just nodded her head after seeing the looks on Bethany's face.
Immediately, she went to the bathroom, Erica stood up from her seat going toward the direction where Jenna was playing with some other kids.
Jenna kept playing hide and seek with some kids from the amusement park, they were so engrossed in their child play like nothing else matters to them.
But, after a while, Jenna got thirsty and she stopped playing as she felt her throat growing dry by the minute– it felt as if there was a lump growing in her throat, and made her feel suffocated as she had zero tolerance for lack of water.
She held her chest and took a deep breath then she fastened her pace, rushing thirstily toward the two women at the end of the amusement park.
Unexpectedly, she bumped into a human wall.
it was a man!
“Sorry” She glanced up at the man and apologized sincerely.
Zayn looked down as he heard the voice. His expression which was crushed earlier and his knitted brows were soon relaxed.
He was angry about the location and how noisy the place was earlier, but the sweet-sounding voice of the little girl seems to ease him.
His cold eyes slightly got warm when his gaze fell on the little girl
Meanwhile, his heart suddenly raced upon setting his eyes on the beautiful deep brown eyes of the little girl–He felt a sense of familiarity with the little girl.
Gael, standing behind Zayn, was gobsmacked for a while because he felt that the little girl looks quite a lot like the young master, and he couldn't help but feel the urge to voice it out.
After looking into his eyes for a few seconds, Jenna had ensured that the man wasn't going to have any reason to blame her. Then, she started to run again.
Zayn came out of his daze and strode away as if nothing had happened just now.
However, after running for a while, Jenna suddenly halted in her steps, and turn back to have a second look back at the man. However, there was no sign of the man anymore.
She raised her brows, and wondered why the man had stared at her so intently without reasons even when he didn't know her!!.
Zayn had come out to search for Danica and Jordan, after checking the shopping mall. which belongs to the Meyers, however, he got a call from Danica that had just returned home; claiming there was an emergency back at home.
He didn't even bother to ask what the emergency was since he had no interest in their family affair – He was only with them for the sake of his son with Danica.
After leaving the amusement park, he was on his way back to the blue ridge company.
He leaned back in the seat and looked out of the window as his mind drifted off to the wonderland.
The thought of the little girl he had met at the amusement park kept lingering in his mind, then his thoughts went wild as he thought of how things would have turned out if Giselle were still here. Maybe the situation would have been very different from what it is right.
If she had made it to the anniversary party back then, maybe he would confess his feelings for her and they would have spent their lives in happiness. But that didn't happen instead she left him forever and she was never coming back.
maybe our child would have been the same age as the little girl from earlier. she's so cute!
This was the first time, he thought of such things in the last five years.
The past few years have been nothing but a collection of new formations as he tried to take his company to a new height while disregarding everything and everyone else– Danica was always angry about this but she had to pretend to be fine with it.
