"Why were you following me?" I ask as I cock the handgun and press the barrel against Kai Yun's forehead. "You're Hana's brother, I know who you work for. But that doesn't mean I won't shoot you dead if you dare lie in my face."
I've just gotten out of my warehouse and my men caught Hana's brother lurking around the surrounding. They made him kneel before me. I'm very sure that he followed us all the way from the estate to my warehouse.
"Listen carefully, Lorenzo. I know you have no reason to trust me, but I am doing this for the safety of my sister. Federico and his men have attacked your estate."
Lies. Dirty lies, he thinks I'm stupid enough to fall for his trick. According to my intel, Federico is currently overseas, he's not even in Korea.
"How sure are you, and what makes you think I will believe you?"
Kai raises one of his hand higher than the other in surrender, "Call any of the security men in your estate. I doubt you'll be able to reach them. They've cut out all telephone communications and electricity. The estate is under siege!"
He seems to go beyond the point of restless. It's surprises me to see how much he pretends to care about his sister, when they're not blood related.
Or maybe he likes her, and sees her as a woman.
Aish! This isn't what I should be thinking about right now. I don't care about his relationship with her. I just find it difficult to believe the words of a man working as a spy for Siciliano Moretti. He may have deliberately approached me as a spy to play one of their stupid, dirty game on me.
Which will not work.
Although, I can't just take any chances. I need to at least call Derrick to make sure there's no any hint of truth in what Hana's brother is saying.
"Ji Soo. Call Derrick and check if everything is fine in the estate."
"Yes Sir!"
"If you lied to me, prepare to die." I turn to Kai with a warning. "Because I won't spare you."
"I have no reason to lie to you. Think about this, I risked my life by tailing you alone without a weapon. Ask your men if they found any sort of weapon on me."
"Don't you dare think you can fool me, Kai Yun. I know that you work as a spy for Moretti, that faceless coward who likes to control people from behind a veil. Your sister doesn't seem to know what sort of dirty work you do for your boss. She's so stupid to think that she can pull you out of whatever trouble you're getting yourself into." I shift my eyes to Ji Soo who is still holding his phone to his ear.
As if sensing my eyes behind him, he turns around, looking alerted, "Sir, I can't reach Derrick or Peter. Their phones have been turned off. And Master Luca did not pick the call."
"Try the others. Anyone else among the security team."
"Sir, those three are the only people authorized to use a cellphone."
Shit. That's right. I've almost forgotten about my own rule. I banned the use of cellphones for security purposes. They're only permitted to use the telephone which has a restriction.
My thought goes to Tae Ho and my brain is instantly alerted. Shit! I think everything that happened the last two or two and a half hours was all a set up! Tae Ho must've deliberately lured me out of the estate in preparation for the attack!
"Right now, I don't think you have any choice but to believe me." Kai says. "There's a mole in your estate. One among your people sent an intel to Federico about the gold you store on one of the floors."
Oh shit! No no no, they can't take Father's gold. I will never allow Tae Ho and Federico to get what they're after.
"We move now! To the estate!" I give my orders. Retrieving my gun, I allow Kai to be taken away by two of my men.
"What shall we do with him?"
"Bring him along."
We enter our cars and drove to the estate. By the time we arrive, we found sixteen dead bodies of our security men piled up inside the basement.
None of the elevators were working, we had to use the stairways to get up here to the 6th floor. Half and a quarter of Father's gold is gone. They've decoded the armory and took off with some of our guns, too.
Feeling overwhelmed with anger, I almost kick Derrick who is standing right behind me, one of his arm in a cast. He claimed to have been shot by Federico. But at this point, I don't know what to believe.
"Where's Peter?"
"He's gone with Tae Ho to take the survivors to the hospital." Derrick replies. From his voice, I can tell he's just as frustrated and angry as I am.
"What happened to the girls? Is any of them hurt? And Mrs Choi."
"They're all safe. But Federico took two of the girls away."
I narrow my eyes on Derrick. "Who and who?"
"Your personal maid, Hana Yun. Along with Doctor Han's daughter, Areum. Hana has been shot in the arm, too. I'm sure of it."
A sudden feeling of dread rises from my core, weakening me in the knees. No, Federico can't have that one, definitely not a guy like him. She belongs to me. My property!
"I know I'm not supposed to say this, Sir. But no matter how many times I think about this, I suspect that Federico has received help from Master Tae Ho."
"Why do you think so?" I believe Derrick, but I have to know what he knows.
"Federico knew that Master Tae Ho was in the estate, yet he didn't bother to send his men to bring him. And Federico already had a prior knowledge about how to decode the safe, he did not encounter any obstacle in the process of hacking the security system."
That is more than enough proof for me. I will never forgive my brother for fooling me and making me to leave the estate. None of this damages would've happened if they had met me here.
I will make sure to report to Father before he does. He must be punished for conniving with an enemy.
But before then, I have to find Federico and bring the two girls back!
