As soon as Hana leaves, I take my security access card and leave without wasting any more time on listening to Bianca.
Inside the elevator, I press the 7th floor and use my card to get an access. I'm not hundred percent confident in my instinct, but at this point, I can't help but to suspect my own brother of cooking up something behind my back.
Back in Milan, I happened to overheard Tae Ho giving orders to someone to proceed with some sort of trial. I didn't get what he was talking about but after learning about the death of another girl in the estate, my suspicion has become stronger.
The more I think about the dead girl, Mira, the more I suspect Tae Ho of having something under his sleeve.
Why will he be so interested in Mira's death to the point of inviting Hana to tell him more about her?
Tae Ho isn't that kind of person to stick his nose into matters like that. Unless he has a good reason.
I step out and proceed to the main entrance of his apartment. I punch in the security code and enter without making any unnecessary sound.
The sitting room is empty, but I'm quick to catch the sight of one pair of female slippers flipped over on the floor very close to the aquarium. It's from the bunch of slippers Mrs Choi always buy for the girls.
My suspicion becomes heightened.
Upon reaching the arched doorway that leads to the dining area, a weak scream of a girl reaches my ear, causing my head to snap towards the direction. It seems to be coming from the corridor linking the rooms.
I stride towards the corridor and by now, the voice of the girl has fade out but I'm still able to trace where it came from. The second room on the left.
Banging the door open, my sight falls on an empty bedroom. I'm in the wrong room, it must have come from the next room.
I close the door shut and bang the third room door, forcing it open.
I've witnessed a lot of atrocities in my life, but the sight before me breaks something in my heart. A girl is strapped onto a table, having a seizure and violently shaking.
Three men throw their eyes to me, — Tae Ho, Peter, and Doctor Han, the estate doctor.
"Will someone explain what the hell is going on here?" My voice comes out harshly.
I throw my eyes across the room, surprised to see so many tubes, wires and a heart rate monitoring device in the room. Is this what Tae Ho has turn the room into? A science laboratory?
Tae Ho excuses himself and mumbles something to the other two before making his way to me. Peter, that scumbag doesn't even have the gut to look at my face. If what I suspect them of doing turns out to be true, I will personally put a bullet in both his knees — for going against my back to do the dirty work for my brother.
"Come with me, Jin." Tae Ho says, and walk out before me.
Stepping out of the room, I grab Tae Ho by the collar and push him against the wall, ignoring the stabbing pain near my chest. I already get the idea of the things he's been doing to the girls even before he explains.
"Don't even try to explain anything! I know what you're doing, Tae Ho. Who said you can use our own girls for this experiment?"
"I-I can't breathe, Jin." He chokes on his words, tapping his palms on my fists. I slowly release him, just so he can talk. "I don't need you permission for that, Father gave me an order to proceed."
"Don't you dare bring Father into this matter!" I punch a fist on the wall, stopping myself from bashing my brother's face. "For how long have you been doing this? Were you the one responsible for Mira death's and all those girls that died in the last two years?" We lost a total of six girls, within the span of two years! That is, if they haven't already wasted the life of the girl having a seizure.
"I don't like the sound of that, brother." Tae Ho says. I'm pissed to see that he even has the gut to smirk at me at this point. "You know the reason why we have to do this. If our experiment becomes a success, that will be the biggest breakthrough in the history of our family. And those Sicilian bastards that look down on our family will have to surrender to Father."
"No matter what, nothing can justify what you did to those girls Tae Ho! They're innocent! They're not here to become your test subjects, they're here to work and make a living! How can you even see this as a breakthrough when you've killed six innocent women?"
"Look who's talking. Since when did you developed a conscience, Jin? You're the one who personally sealed the deal for the ingredients your pharmaceutical company uses to produce T33. I'm trying to make a miracle to happen so we both don't have to feel responsible. If we make this happen, there will be no need for Kidney donations anymore. Our miracle T33,drug will be able to repair even the most rotten of all kidneys!" He looks almost delirious, the way his eyes glints with strong excitement. He doesn't seems to have one bit of regret for all the lives we lost.
Tae Ho continues, "But, our goal will never come true if we don't make the necessary sacrifices. A few people have to sacrifice for others to live. For the greater good and for humanity."
"What do you even know about humanity you piece of scum."
A laugh roars out his chest. "Then we're both pieces of scums in that case. Remember, you can never come off clean if you tell anyone about this. Your pharmacy are the drug producers after-all, there's no way out for you. And Father will not watch you ruin our progress."
My knees feel weakened all of a sudden. Tae Ho is right, actually. I'm also a cold blooded murderer. That's who I am, and I wonder why I'm acting like a person who feels empathy towards those girls. They're just a speck of dust under our feet. We must make impossible things to happen in other to crush those Sicilian bastards looking down on our family.
And for now, Drug T33 might be our only solution.
If Father agrees with it, then it means there's hope of making this experiment to become a breakthrough success. It means that our family can finally rise through the ranks again.
We need more test subjects. I should be helping Tae Ho, he's my brother. We're doing this for the whole of humanity.
Snap out, Jin! Get a grip of yourself! This is wrong! You're killing the weak and innocent! Another part of my mind screams at me, and I feel a cold chill run down my bones.
The girl inside! I must save her before they kill her and make it look like another suicide.
