Title: Bridal shower.
~Aubrey's pov~
Finally we were back, Kadee had drove us straight to her house to see Mrs Adam who had been hell bent on seeing my wedding dress.
We walked in together into the mansion and met Mrs Adam and her second son, finn discussing at the sitting room. As soon as their eyes met us, they kept quiet and watched us come closer.
"You guys went to shop?" She asked quizzically looking at our big shopping bags.
"Actually, it's her wedding dress." Kadee replies and went to sit beside her mum. I followed her behind instantly. "Really?. With those big bags?"Finn asked with a grin.
"None of your business, finn. " Kadee soleumly replied him and opened the bag. She brought out the wedding dress and mrs Adam gasped.
"Don't tell me you chosed this for her?."She grabs the dress and looks at it.
"I loved it" I told her.
She turned to Kadee expecting her for an answer. "Come on. This.." She flips it up, "It's too simple, hun. You'll be getting married to the richest man in town, don't you know?" Damn!. I almost rolled my eyes at her.
"She loves it that way, Mom."
Kadee comes to my aid with a deep frown across her lip. Just looking at her, you would know she was tired from the questions Mrs Adam was raining at us.
"Mmmhmm.. Is she the one?, she looks much prettier than in her pictures." Finn says running his eyes over me. He finishes it up with a wink. What the heck?!!
"Stop flirting with your brother's wife,, Finn"
Kadee shouts at him while he laughed and stood up. He climbed upstairs without a word.
"He means no harm." Her mom said
"Oh, please"
She shunned her, grabbed the bags and my hand and rushed upstairs with Isla trailing behind.
I've been quite busy, making preparations for the wedding which was tomorrow, and today, it's the bridal shower tonight. I thought of how the actual wedding was gonna be tomorrow and I can't wait to get it done and dusted. I wasn't even excited, I just wanna do it just like every lady does theirs.
I thought of my life with Rowan. I thought of having him beside me on the same bed, and all the immoral things he would do to me. No, he has to sleep on the floor. I can't even imagine myself sleeping on the same bed with him.
Speaking of him, where's he?.
He wouldn't even show his face after what I did to him yesterday.
Yesterday, while walking down the stairs with a glass of juice, i heard him discussing with Zack about me.
"I just wanted her to take in, then bring her to stay with mother." Rowan confessed to his friend. I suspected him the day he said, "I want to marry you for my mother." Who does that?.
"Isn't that bad?, keeping her in your mom 's house after marriage."
" She has been the one pushing herself on me. You can't underate these cheap girls. They will go extra miles to get what they want. And she's not an exception."
I bite my lips in anger and listened raptly. Pushing myself on him. Who does he think he is?
"I sincerely don't know what game you are tryna play on this girl. If you're trying to destroy her life by marrying her, I advise you call off the wedding."
"I never wanted this wedding. I never'd. She had my mother wrapped up in her palm because i don't see why mom who allow me get married to a nobody, someone that has nothing to offer."
Oh my God!. I'm so gonna deal with this guy right now.
"How am I not sure this isn't love?. This is how it began between i and Zoe." I scoffed.
"You're nuts. You also have nothing to offer" He said angrily and pushed him aside. His eyes met mine and he groaned.
I waited for him to come closer, just as he's in front of me, I emptied the juice on him. A
gasp escaped from my lips.
"Are you blind?, don't you see?." I yelled, pushed him aside and continued my journey to the sitting room.
"Lover girl. " I heard a familiar voice said behind me. I turned and saw Kadee smiling.
"Why did you call me that?" I asked.
"Hush!. Don't give me that look. You've been smiling all alone. "She said and hit me..playfully.
"Ooh. Was I smiling?, I was thinking of something" I said and looked away.
"Thinking of my brother, I guess"
She winked and i chuckled.
"See that lookkkkkk..." I burst out laughing.
"Aubrey, come help me with this" Isla shouted from where she stood. She was tying a ribbon up at the ceiling fan. I stand up and go to help her with a balloon.
"Be careful" I says as she slowly climbed down.
"How's it?" She asked and I looked around. She had done pretty well. The house looks colorful.
"It's..beautiful"
I told her and tapped her. She blushed happily..
"It's almost six. You'll have to get dressed. " kadee reminded. "Thanks for everything. I'm really grateful to y'all."
"Aubrey, don't stand there all day, the guests are arriving." My mom should from the kitchen.
I tied my pink towel around my body and walked out of the bathroom to see a pink dazzling gown, bag and heels on my bed.
A 'wow' escaped my mouth as I walked towards the bed. I touched the silk fiber material and let out a smile. This must be really expensive.
Twenty minutes latet, I stand infront of my mirror, dressed on my pink dress. The door creaked open kadee comes in. She was already dressed in a beautiful blue dinner gown, and she looked extremely gorgeous.
"It looks beautiful on you" She mumbles and i smiled. "I didn't mean to sound ungrateful but how come?"
"I ordered it in the morning. It came from Houston." She said coming close to me. She made me sit on my bed and dropped a big bag, a bag I hadn't noticed she carried with her. I looked at her quizzically.
"It's makeup. This is my wedding gift to you."
"You're extremely generous dear. I really appreciate."
We walked out together to the sitting room and many eyes lands on me. They were too many, family friends, and mostly people invited by Rowan's mom.
I went over and started greeting everyone of them. I felt important, I've never been given this attention all my life. I looks at mom who was smiling brightly at me. I felt grateful for training me up to this moment. My mother is my bestfriend, she acts the role of both a mother and a father to me.
The thought of him brought a frown across my face and mom tapped me.
"Why the frown?" She whispered.
"Dad's not here" I confessed.
She kept mute for awhile and a tear fell on my shoulder. I looked up and found mom wiping up her face.
"I'm sorry" I mumbled.
"No, it's not that. I'm happy you are getting married without his knowledge. You are a star, my dear. You do not need anyone to make you shine. Your dad has left us, we have to live with it." She touches my shoulder with a sad smile.
"Excuse me."
Mom walked away, allowing me feel bad about bringing up dad's issue in front of her.
