Chapter 16 DON'T FORCE IT

Chrysolite's friends pulled her to their locker room where they began to change. She glanced at her friends who were talking excitedly. What they had said about her, was it true? She couldn't come to terms with that. She touched her face slightly to check if something had also happened to her face while in the pool.
Nothing was there.
She looked down at herself. Nothing. What was that feeling in the pool? She still felt goosebumps recalling such an incident. What had happened to her while she was in there? She had not the slightest idea. She couldn't even remember how she had transitioned from swimming like a pro to almost dying in the pool. Perhaps, if she did it again, she would be able to know. Her body shook at the thought of that. She took out a brush from her locker and started to brush her long hair, then tied it in a ponytail just like Jasmine.
Both of her friends were so pretty that it would be difficult to select which one was her favorite. Yet, Chrysolite was the prettiest of them all. She had a look that could strike one's heart. And as Michael would say, the look of a goddess. She was growing, one would notice the dual mounds on her chest. Her eyes were the prettiest, just like her mother's but she had black eyes. Her lips were tiny and full depending on the way she angled her head. That she got from her father. She took off her damped swimming suit, brought out her school uniform then started to wear it.
They later met up with Michael and Sardius telling them about their practice by the pool. Jasmine was acting all timid around Michael who didn't care. Michael wanted to hear the whole story from Chrysolite, he kept asking Chrysolite some questions even though Jasmine was the one telling the story.
"I'm craving for chocolates. Do you have some Sardius?" Chrysolite asked. She started liking chocolates after taking a bite from Sardius's chocolate sweet one day.
"No, I didn't bring some with me today," Sardius replied.
"I have one with me!" Michael busted out, bringing it out from his pocket to give it to her. Jasmine was slightly hurt seeing that Michael was turning his attention towards Chrysolite. Ashley noticed this and then told Jasmine she would get her a chocolate candy.
"Don't bother," Jasmine said sadly.
Jasmine had always longed to be recognized as someone Michael could like. Whenever they were all together, she would make sure she was beside Michael, telling stories that Michael never cared to listen to. Everyone knew she liked Michael even though she had never confessed. But Michael only saw her as a friend, he didn't like her.
"Chrysolite, I hope you're feeling better," Michael said showing concern after hearing the news about what had happened to her in the pool.
"Well, I'm fine now," she smiled at him.
Jasmine excused herself to the restroom. She was washing her face under the tap when Ashley walked in. "You know I like your brother, right?" Jasmine started.
"Yeah, I do," Ashley stared at her friend's reflection in the mirror while she stood behind her.
"I am trying very hard for him to notice me but he isn't," Jasmine complained bitterly.
"Jasmine, you shouldn't be overly sensitive to the fact that my brother cannot come to terms that you like him. It's a whole new thing to him. You've only been our friends for some time now. Give him time, maybe he will like you." Ashley told her.
"But Ashley, he should have known by now how much I do like him." She whined.
Ashley sighed and then came closer to her friend. "Don't burden yourself with something you can not help. I can't force my brother to like you because you're my friend. If he likes you fine, if not, don't stress it. Try not to get hurt cause you want to prove to him that you like him."
"I'm not trying to prove anything, Ash." Jasmine turned around. "I just want him to ask me questions like he does to Chrysolite. I want him to look at me like he does to Chrysolite."
Ashley felt bad listening to her, how could she help her?
"Please, I want you to talk to him once more." Jasmine clasped her hands begging.
"I've done that a couple of times. That didn't change anything Jas. You need to accept it."
Jasmine turned back to face the mirror, washing her face from the water again. Ashley was looking at her pitifully, with sad eyes and hoping that she open her heart to other things, other people instead of concentrating and begging for affection from whence only one person was liking one person.
