Lily entered the coffee shop and walked towards a seat near the window.she likes to seat near the window so she could occasionally stare at the people outside.
It was through her staring that she saw anna for the first time but she wasn't sure if anna had seen her that day.she sighs sadly as she realized that she would never know.
"It's been ages".cole said as he took his seat across lily.he noticed as he walked towards her that she was lost in her thought as she wasn't aware that he was in.
"Yeah".lily nods."it's been a long time since we've seen each other".
"You haven't placed an order yet?".cole asked.he then went to the counter to order a coffee."so how have you been doing?".cole said when he sat down.
"Good.i guess". lily said although she couldn't bring herself to believe her words.
Good?. nothing was good for her.she was arrested and recently got released yet she said good.
Even cole didn't believe her."I understand".there was silence as no one spoke.it was at this moment that the coffee was brought to their table.
"Anna hated coffee".lily suddenly said as she saw the coffee cup in front of her as cole ordered for hers as well.
Cole who had held the cup to his mouth was surprised and he dropped the cup."why?".it was so sudden for lily to talk about anna since she rarely does.
Lily glanced briefly at cole."you should complete your question so I know what to say".
"Sorry".cole apologized."I meant why did you suddenly mention anna?".he wondered what the reason was.
"It's nothing really".lily shrugged."I was just reminded of her when I saw the coffee cup".she pointed to the cup in front of her."it suddenly occurred to me.that's all".she continues to stare outside the window.
"Oh".was all cole said but then he remembered something."lily".
Lily who heard her name tore her eyes away from the window to cole."yea?".
"I have a question to ask you".cole started."can I ask?".he still felt like he should ask for her permission."it's kinda personal though".
Lily was queit for a while wondering if she should give the go ahead to cole but then she had nothing to lose."sure".
"When you said you liked me that day, were you lying?".cole remembered how she would always chase him and say she had feelings for him.
"Why are you curious about that?".asked lily.it wasn't as lf she had a problem in answering him,she just felt the need to know why.
"There's no actual reason". said cole."I am curious besides I should know right?".
Lily took her a sip of her coffee with a sigh."when I found out that I like girls,I had a hard time taking it in.i was scared about the reactions of people around me when they found out so I had no choice but to use you".lily explained."I am sorry for using you but at that time I was too scared".
Cole nods."I understand". even though lily was wrong ,he understood where she was coming from.
Although the world was becoming open,it didn't mean that everyone accepted it.there was some people who the understand being attracted to the same sex so it made coming out hard.
"So anna was the one you truly liked?".cole asked.
Lily nods "Yea".
"You two dated?".cole asks.
"Yes".lily nods again.
Cole sighs."it's hard to believe that we liked the same person".
Lily had nothing to say to that,if she had known that cole liked anna as well she wouldn't have used him but the deed had already been done and there was nothing they could do to undone it
"Did you hear that I was arrested?". lily asked suddenly.when she saw cole nods,she continues to speak."what about the reason?.do you know why?".
Cole shakes his head."No". thinking about it,he never heard the reason why lily was arrested.
"Because the camera caught me being there at the place she was found dead". explained lily.
Cole eyes were big showing how shocking the news was to him."so were you really there?".
"Yea".lily nods."but I didn't push her.i would never do such thing".
"I believe you wouldn't kill anna".cole said."you don't need to explain".he then adds."there's one more thing I am curious about".
"What is it?".asked lily.
"All the things that you told miss elise, were they the truth?".
"Miss elise?".lily frowned."who is that?".
"The dectetive".cole answered.it was his own turn to frown."you don't know her name?".
"No".lily shakes her head."how was I supposed to know?".
"I don't know".cole shrugged."it just feels like something you would know".
"I was being honest when I spoke to her".lily said."though not entirely". before cole could speak,lily spoke up."I told her the things necessary".
She felt the need to say that as she didn't want cole to think bad things about her.
"I understand". said cole.
"So is that all you want to ask me?".lily asked.it was already getting late.
"Yes".cole also felt that he had spoke enough words for the day and that they both needed to rest.
"Then I will take my leave".said lily as she stood up."thanks for the coffee".with that she walked away.
