Chapter 35
JANE'S POV
"WHAT did you just say?! Selene got drunk yesterday alone at the bar?! What?!" It was Leigh's unbelievable shout at me. I called her this morning. She is also worried because I also told her last night that I don't know where Selene is.
"Don't shout," I scolded her. My head was aching because of her high-pitched voice. "She's okay, by the way. I gave her medicine when she woke up. However, because of the side effects of the medicine, she slept again."
Selene had a fever since last night so I immediately took care of it. "Is your brother there with you?"
"We're in the hospital tonight, ate. He's having a check-up." There is fun in the tone of its voice.
"Good- what?"
I was going to turn off the call but I stopped when I heard what Leigh said.
"Yes, ate. Our plan has progressed. My older brother has realized that he still has hope to live long. He's having a consultation with the doctor right now."
I smiled. "That's good. I didn't expect my plan to be fulfilled so quickly. I'll make the plan so they can meet again."
I waited for Leigh's answer but no one spoke on the other line. I looked at my cellphone because Leigh might have turned off the call but no, she was still on the line.
"Leigh? Hello? Are you still there?"
"A-Ah of course." I was suddenly nervous because of her stuttering. "I-I have something to tell you."
"What's that?" I frowned before I glanced at Selene. He was still sound asleep.
"Three months..."
"What three months?" I asked.
I was irritated and nervous. I hate it when people make cliffhangers on what they wanted to say. Can't they just go straight to the point?
"There are only three months left before we can find a heart donor that meets the requirements of Kent's body."
"What do you mean by that?" I could no longer hide the irritation and fear in my voice.
"His doctor said, if we haven't found her a heart donor soon, there's a chance that... he'll die."
I almost let go of my cell phone when I heard what Leigh said.
"So he doesn't really want to show up or even make Selene know about this..." she said weakly. "Even though we're here, he's afraid that he won't make it. His situation is getting worse. I'm already checking if my brother and I have a heart match, but not either. I wanted to sacrifice my life for him, but I can't do anything for him. It pains me."
I just bit my lip so hard. Shit, I thought it was already okay. I thought it was okay, but it still wasn't.
Because there is another problem.
“That can’t be,” I said in an authoritative tone. "I'll make a way for them to meet. I'll call you later. Bye," I added before I turned off the call.
I picked up the jacket hanging in Selene's wardrobe and walked out of Selene's room. I'm going somewhere first because I feel like I can't handle what's happening anymore.
"Hey," I called to one of Selene's maids. She is only around my age.
"Yes, Ma'am Jane?" They already know me here. As often as I hung out here at their house, it was impossible for them not to recognize me.
"When Selene wakes up, tell her I left for a while. I'll be right back. Then tell her not to get drunk if she can't even handle herself.
"Okay, ma'am. I'll do that," Eya replied and walked into Selene's room. She was carrying a basin of water and a face towel.
I went out of Selene's house and got on my motorbike and drove it. I go to a place that I hang out with especially when I have a problem.
CHILDREN'S PARK. I miss hanging out here. I also spent as much time taking care of Kent and Selene's love story as possible without running out of problems.
I leaned against the tree and watched the children happily playing in the park.
When my sister was killed, this park witnessed the sadness I went through. I was even mistaken for a ghost by the kids here. Because my eyeliner was spread on my face, and then the white dress I was wearing was still full of blood. I stayed here while crying.
No one knows it. Even Selene didn't know it. My sister was killed and what hurts me at that time is that I can't do anything about it. That is why I will never let my mistake happen again.
I grabbed my cell phone and was playing Candy Crush when someone threw crumpled paper at me.
At first, I didn't pay attention to those who were throwing papers at me, but when the papers thrown at me takes one after another, I got annoyed. I looked for who was throwing the paper at me, and all I saw was a woman sitting on the bench and writing something in her notebook. Then, later on, she will tear the paper from her notebook, crumple it, and throw it.
She turned her back on me and faced the other direction where she was sitting. Then she will throw the crumpled paper behind her, which is where I am now.
I picked up those papers and threw them in the trash and sat down next to her. I don't think she noticed me because she was busy writing in his notebook.
I wonder what that is? Diary?
I simply peeked at what she was writing and my eyes widened when I saw what she was writing.
"Fictional story?" I accidentally say that out loud while reading what was written there on the paper.
The woman next to me had her eyes widened and hugged her notebook.
"Why are you reading my story? Are you going to copy my story? That's plagiarism! That's bad!" she said as she snapped her fingers on her other hand.
I raised an eyebrow. Do I care about that fictional story? I can't even fix my own story, so why would I try to write another story?
"What the hell are you saying? I don't even know how to write a story and I'm not interested in that kind of stuff. What the hell," I said as I roll my eyes.
I was surprised when she suddenly put her hand on his nose. And that's when I realized that she's cute. She's cheerful, and I think Leigh and her are the same age.
"What the hell are you doing?" I asked as I raise a brow.
"Ahm, don't you know how to speak Tagalog? It's nosebleeding, you know," she said and took another tissue and wiped the fake blood from her nose even though there was no real blood.
"Tss," I said coldly.
I was surprised when her eyes sparkled as she looked at me. What the heck, does this woman have a split personality? She's crazy. She seems to have been mad at me earlier, but now, she is okay again and she even looks happy to see me.
"Are you a gangster?" she asked cheerfully.
I don't know why she asked that, and I don't know why I nodded. Am I too obvious?
"Really?" she asked, smiling. "Can I just make you the protagonist of my story? I really want to make a story but I can't think of a plot," she added before she decided to just doodle in her notebook.
I didn't answer her, so she poked me.
"What's your name?"
Still, I didn't answer her so she repeatedly poked me out to know what my name was.
She looks like Selene. She even acts like her.
"Fine. Jane Sy. Happy now?" I said, annoyed.
I thought she would be afraid of me. Well, everyone does except Selene, Kent, Leigh, and Isabella because they're my friends.
But, do I care about them? I don't care if they're intimidated by me.
She nodded happily, with her eyes sparkling. What the hell?
"I'm Trish Quincelle Sharm Yoshida," she introduced me. "My name is long, isn't it? So just call me Trish," she said and held out her hand to me.
And so as not to embarrass her, I just shook hands with her.
"I don't want to call you Trish," I honestly said. "I prefer Sharm."
Her name is nice, it was just so long.
"All right," she immediately agreed. "Just call me Sharm since it's also cute"
She's crazy.
"Okay... Sharm?"
I was surprised when Sharm suddenly disappeared beside me. Where is that child? Did she teleport?
"Young people love to go here!" I heard the woman say in front of me. It looks like she and I have the same age. "Come on, we're here. There are a lot of cute kids there," she added to the handsome man with him who also looked the same age as Sharm.
The man just nodded and soon they disappeared from my sight.
"What a relief!" I gasped in shock when I turned to my right and Sharm was there again.
"Where did you go?"
"I'm just hiding from something." She made a peace sign with me and smiled.
Is she a mushroom?
"Who? The woman and man who passed by earlier?"
She nodded, so I frowned.
"And why is that?" I asked her again.
She told me the reason why he was hiding there when the woman and the man pass by. She said that the woman is the sister of the handsome man, and the handsome man who passed by earlier was Sharm's former lover. That's why they suddenly became estranged from each other because...
"S-Seriously? That's really what happened?" I said as I held my stomach while laughing.
This is the first time I laughed this hard in front of someone... but I can't contain it as the reason they became aloof with each other is that she wasn't able to go on their date because nature called him. She had constipation at that time.
And this man thought Sharm had already condemned him.
"Yes, but why are you laughing at me?" she asked me while frowning.
I don’t know if I’ll be sad because of what happened to them or just laugh because of the reason they fought.
"Don't! Don't laugh!" she says, grumbling as she looked disgusted at me. Hey, kids nowadays are incredible. "How about you? Tell me about your love life!" she commanded.
I stopped laughing when she said that.
"Tss. I don't have a love life," I said as I looked away.
"Really?" she asked doubtfully. "I can see in your eyes that you're lying, sister. Please share, hurry. I'll just get ideas for my story. I know you're going to share a sad one."
I frowned. How did she know?
"Don't be surprised how I found out that you're going to tell a sad story... because you're already crying. You haven't told me anything yet but I can feel right away how heavy everything is going on for you," she said before handing me a handkerchief.
I immediately took it before I wiped it from my eyes. Tss, I just noticed today, why do I seem to be weak? I feel so annoyed at myself.
"Sharm," I call to her.
"Why?"
"Can I trust you?"
Is this the right thing to do? I don't know.
"Of course. They said, I just look talkative but I'm good at keeping secrets!" she said while nodding repeatedly.
"Sure?" I asked again.
"Sure."
"Okay." I am determined. "I'll tell you but you won't tell everyone, okay? Not even in your story."
She nodded. "Of course, not. I won't be interested in telling everyone the secret you share with me, and I won't use that in my story," she told me to give me assurance.
I closed my eyes and remembered the painful events in my life.Download Novelah App
