Chapter 8: Favorite Guy Friend
Alvierra's P.O.V.
"Wow! We're graduating next year!" Rai said happily.
Here we are again at school to fill out forms. We'll check our sections later after we answer them.
"I'm nervous, Rai," I said.
"Oh come on! Don't be nervous because I know you can do it. Look, you're still the top 1 in your class," she said.
I was the top 1, which surprised me. In 1st Year, I was only Top 5 because Farrah, Sammy, and Deya were smarter than me. Farrah was top 1, and the president of our section was top 2, Sammy was top 3, and Deya was top 4. We were almost neck and neck.
"Maybe next school year, I won't be," I said.
"I bet you'll still be top 1. Wow, time flies, right? We're 16 years old this year," Rai said.
"Hmm, so stop looking for a boyfriend because we're graduating," I said.
"Psh, are you my mom? And yeah, I've already decided that. No boyfriend this year," Rai said with a smile. After we filled out the forms, we checked our sections. We checked our names first and then gave the forms and cards to the admin.
"Beh!" Rai said and looked at me sadly.
"Oh, what?" I asked.
"You're not in the same class as your bebe anymore," Rai said.
"Ha?" I asked and immediately looked for Rade's name in my section. But it wasn't there. I looked for his name in other sections and found it there.
"Too bad, you're not classmates," Rai said sadly.
"Hays, let it be. You know, you're meant to be together. Look at us. We haven't been classmates for four years, but we're still friends until now," Rai said.
I was sad, but I told myself that maybe this was the chance given to me by heaven to forget him.
That's what I did. I always hung out with Nash and Juls. I told him to forget his feelings for me, but he was persistent. He said he was willing to wait no matter what.
With all the activities they made us do, we barely had time for ourselves. We were graduating from Secondary, so that's how it is. I also told myself that maybe I had already forgotten him. Rade also passed by our classroom sometimes and talked to his classmates who were his friends. I saw him look at me, so I pretended to be busy. Well, I was actually busy.
"What?! We're pairing with their section?" I asked Juls.
"Hmm, yeah, but they'll just choose representatives from our section. They'll compete in the contest, you know. So whoever gets chosen will be the ones to interact with the representatives from Raiden's section," Juls said.
Relax, Vierra, you're definitely not going to be chosen as a representative for the section. There are 35 of you in the section, so you're definitely not one of the ten.
Here's the list of representatives.
Reyes, Jullian
Morris, Nash Ivan
Villanueva, Leo
Asuncion, Michelle
Tiangco, Grace
Trinidad, Irish
Dela Cruz, Dave
Puerto, Bernard
Madraso, Chin Hanna
"Oh, I dropped it, sorry. And last," our president said.
I'm sure I'm not on it, right? They're going to choose the best ones. They're definitely not going to include me because there are still 19 others.
"Mendoza, Alvierra," she said. I just hit my forehead because why did I even wish I wasn't included? Of course, the opposite will happen. I should have just wished to be included, so the opposite would happen, right?
"Wait, why am I included?" I asked, raising my hand.
"Ma'am chose this," she said.
And I hope Raiden isn't included on the other side. Wait! If I wish for something, the opposite happens. Okay, fine. I hope Raiden is included on the other side.
My smile disappeared when the ten representatives came in, and I saw Raiden at the end talking to a guy. They let the representatives who weren't included out and gave us an early recess. It was so we could all have a meeting.
"I'm included, Vierra," Juls said and sat beside me. Nash sat on the other side of me.
"Hi Vierra," Nash said.
"Don't bother me, I'm in a bad mood," I said.
Why am I still classmates with these two?
I looked at our two section advisers who were talking in front and explaining what we were going to do. I didn't understand anything. And why did I have to interact with Rade again? We shouldn't because we're not classmates anymore.
"I'll tell Ma'am that you don't want to," Nash said. I glared at him, but he just laughed. Juls laughed too.
We were all gathered in a circle, 20 of us. Juls and Nash was still beside me, but far away. Rade was in front of me, looking at me angrily. I just glared at him and looked at our president, Michelle Asuncion, but we call her Mitch.
Nash was playing with my braided hair, so I elbowed him. He laughed and pulled my hair. I hit him back, and he dodged.
"Hey, wait, Pres. our top 1 and top 2 are fooling around," Irish said, laughing.
"Shh, Vierra and Nash, stop fooling around and continue later," Mitch said. I was going to say that we weren't fooling around, but Nash covered my mouth.
"Hey Nash!" Juls said beside me. They were hitting each other on my back, so I took a deep breath. What are these classmates of mine? Nursery or 4th year High School?
They were so bold because there were no teachers watching. They left earlier because they had another class. They explained it to the presidents, so it was okay to leave them with us.
Everyone stood up, so we fixed our seats.
"I didn't know you two were shipped by our top 2 back then," Raiden said when he got close to me, pretending to fix his seat even though it was already fixed.
"Well, I didn't know you cared about that," I said.
"Tss, of course, I care. I noticed you're super close. I thought I was your only best friend?" he asked.
Yeah, here we go again. Best friend role.
"I have a lot of best friends," I said.
"I mean guy best friend," he said.
"What's wrong with that? Yeah, I have many guy best friends, but don't worry. You're my favorite guy best friend," I said.
"Am I your favorite?" he asked.
"Hmm."
"Hey, let's go, Raiden!" his classmate said. He nodded and waved at me with a smile as he left.
So MWFS practice, meaning Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. We have a lot of work, and we'll also be doing this practice.
"Vierra, you're the center," our instructor said.
"What?" I asked, surprised.
"I saw your moves, and you're a perfect match for the center," Ate Cleah said with a smile.
"Ah, o-okay," I said, shyly going to the center. Rade was beside me. Why isn't he the center? He's good at it.
We continued practicing until we perfected it. We clapped and thanked Ate Cleah. Our performance is tomorrow, and I'm nervous because I'm in front and I'm the center. I hope it goes well.Download Novelah App
