Chapter 18: A Demon in an Angel’s Disguise

At the same time, on the island, Trần Anh Hùng and Tống Thanh Phong were working hard to gather information about the Yin-Yang Eyes. That morning, Trần Anh Hùng had received a message from Trần Ngọc Linh, instructing him to find the information and report back before nightfall.
If someone were to ask him who his master was, he could answer without hesitation—only Trần Ngọc Linh.
He recalled an event from years ago. Back then, he was famous for his talents. But as the saying goes, “Talent and calamity go hand in hand.” Trần Hùng took notice of him and had him kidnapped.
Refusing to submit, he attempted to escape. The moment he opened the door to leave, a man in an expensive suit pointed a gun at his head.
"You should know that if you step out of this room, you will die."
With an inherently righteous nature, he refused to bow to crime and defiantly replied,
"My knowledge is meant to serve humanity, not murderers."
Seeing that words wouldn't work, the man resorted to force.
"If you still don’t realize where you are, allow me to show you."
The moment those words left his lips, Trần Anh Hùng was brutally beaten by several guards at the door.
Lying on the ground, battered and bruised, he heard the man’s voice again—a mix of threat and persuasion.
"You have one last chance. Sit back down and continue our conversation, or walk out that door, where no more chances await you."
Eyes bloodshot, body aching all over, Trần Anh Hùng slowly stood up and walked toward the door.
As soon as he stepped outside, dozens of guns were aimed straight at him. The moment the door closed behind him, his life would end.
And yet, he still walked forward, accepting his own fate.
Was he courageous, or simply foolish? He didn’t know. He had a bright future ahead of him, dreams still unfulfilled. No one would willingly end their life like this. And yet, he kept walking.
Just as the door shut behind him, he collapsed to the ground. The air exploded with gunfire—dozens of shots aimed directly at his head, bullets tearing into the walls.
At that exact moment, someone touched his face, checking his breath before cheerfully declaring,
"He's still alive."
Then, that same voice spoke again.
"Do not kill him."
The man in the suit stubbornly objected.
"But young master, this is the boss’s order."
Hearing this, the young man was clearly displeased. His tone turned sharp.
"This is the first time I want to save someone. Are you saying you want to stop me?"
The man swallowed hard before reluctantly stepping back.

Trần Anh Hùng woke up in a room decorated in pale blue—elegant, yet carrying an air of cold detachment.
Trần Ngọc Linh sat by the window, chewing gum and blowing bubbles, looking no different from a child lost in their own amusement.
Seeing this scene, Trần Anh Hùng instinctively blurted out,
"Who are you?"
Trần Ngọc Linh turned around.
"Me? I'm Trần Ngọc Linh, the son of the man who wanted you dead."
Trần Anh Hùng was momentarily startled. As far as he knew, Trần Ngọc Linh was known as a demon disguised as an angel—blessed with an angelic appearance but harboring a heart as cruel as the devil’s.
Indeed, his appearance was striking. But why would a demon save him?
"Why did you rescue me?"
Trần Ngọc Linh furrowed his brows as if deep in thought before casually replying,
"Why? Hmm… why indeed?"
Trần Anh Hùng propped himself up, his body aching all over.
"Enough with the act. I don’t need your charity."
Trần Ngọc Linh raised an eyebrow in surprise and responded,
"Charity? Must every action have a reason? Isn’t it a waste of time to sit and analyze the motive behind every little thing?"
Trần Anh Hùng stared at him, still unable to comprehend his reasoning. Before he could respond, the young master continued,
"If you really need a reason, just think of it this way—you’re simply too good-looking for me to ignore."
With that, he burst into laughter.
"Ha ha ha!"
Trần Anh Hùng scowled in irritation.
"Pervert."
Out of nowhere, Trần Ngọc Linh moved closer, sat on the bed, took the gum out of his mouth, and attempted to shove it into Trần Anh Hùng’s.
"Here, eat this. Gum helps with relaxation."
Trần Anh Hùng dodged, causing the gum to fall to the floor.
Trần Ngọc Linh blinked in mild surprise.
"You don’t want it?"
He then appeared deep in thought.
"You really are strange. The people I’ve met before—if it was something from me, even leftover scraps, they’d fight over it like starving dogs."
Trần Anh Hùng quickly got out of bed.
"I want to leave."
Trần Ngọc Linh looked at his frail, barely recovered body—someone who had just been saved from the brink of death and was already trying to leave again. Finding the situation amusing, he chuckled and said,
"You know who my father is, don’t you?"
"I do."
"If you know, why are you trying to leave? He’s a monster. If you step outside, you won’t survive. Only by staying here can I protect you."
"Who needs your protection?"
Trần Ngọc Linh merely shrugged, acting indifferent. Without another word, he turned to leave, only tossing back a parting remark.
"The food is on the table."
