Chapter 35: Becoming One

Hoàng Hải Vân hesitated at the gate of Trần Ngọc Linh’s house before pressing the doorbell. She was trying to come up with the most natural way to greet him without embarrassing herself. No matter how much she thought about it, she couldn’t decide on the best approach.
She didn’t have to wait long before a house servant came to welcome her. They still greeted her with the same respect as if she were the mistress of the house.
After entering and waiting for a while without seeing Trần Ngọc Linh, she asked the servant, only to learn that he had been spending most of his time on an island lately and hadn’t been home much.
So much effort spent crafting different scenarios in her mind—only for none of them to be used.
Now she didn’t know whether to keep waiting or just leave.
She decided to wait a little longer and wandered around the house, taking in the scenery. However, after what felt like ages, he still hadn’t returned. Sitting on a stone bench, she gazed at the still lake, feeling a wave of frustration.
Calling him directly felt a bit too desperate.
Maybe it was better to head home for now. If the servants told him she had come by, perhaps he would come looking for her instead.
Just as she was about to stand up, she suddenly felt a presence behind her. A tall figure had been standing there—who knew for how long?
Her throat went dry. She instinctively opened her mouth, intending to say she had come to return his USB drive, but before she could utter a word, he leaned down and captured her lips in a deep, fervent kiss.
Without hesitation, he scooped her up and carried her inside, heading straight for the room they had once shared.
Placing her gently on the bed, he gazed at her intensely, as if trying to etch every detail of this moment into his memory. There was a certain tenderness in his actions, as though he was both cherishing and claiming what was his.
Caught in his stare, Hoàng Hải Vân felt her face grow hot. She instinctively raised her hands to cover herself, feeling shy in a way she never had before—like a young girl experiencing love for the first time.
To Trần Ngọc Linh, she had always been that way—sometimes putting up a tough front, asserting her independence, but at the same time, unknowingly stirring in him a desire to protect and cherish her.
This moment felt different from anything before.
This time, she was truly present, experiencing everything in her own body, with all the nervous anticipation and unspoken emotions that came with it.
As he held her close, she looked up at him, eyes wide and shimmering—like a small, delicate kitten caught between trust and hesitation.
And in that moment, he knew.
There were no words needed.

At the first moment of closeness, Hoàng Hải Vân tensed up, her fingers instinctively digging into Trần Ngọc Linh’s back as she let out a soft cry. A few tears escaped the corners of her eyes—fragile, shimmering like morning dew.
She had thought their bodies were already familiar with this kind of intimacy, but now, in her true form, every sensation was heightened. Her body resisted at first, overwhelmed by the unfamiliarity of something so deeply personal.
Seeing her like this, Trần Ngọc Linh's heart ached. He gently kissed away her tears, his lips tracing a path of comfort across her face. With a hushed voice, he whispered in her ear, his tone warm and reassuring:
"Just relax… Trust me. It will get better."
His words, combined with his tender caresses, gradually eased the tension in her body. Slowly, hesitantly, she let go of her resistance, allowing herself to be enveloped by him.
And in that moment, everything changed.
For the first time, they were truly together—not trapped in the confines of another’s body, not hindered by the barriers of fate. This time, every touch, every emotion, belonged solely to them.
A whirlwind of sensations overtook her—at times overwhelming, at times blissfully intoxicating. The intensity made her heart race, her breath hitch, as if she were being pulled between the depths of the earth and the heavens above.
By the time everything settled, her body was completely drained, her breaths coming out in quiet, steady rhythms. She lay still in his embrace, too exhausted to move, her fingers weakly clutching at his arm as if to anchor herself to reality.
Trần Ngọc Linh gazed down at her, his own breathing uneven, yet his heart full. This wasn’t just about desire—it was something far deeper. A longing that had simmered for so long, now finally fulfilled.
Holding her close, he pressed a kiss to her forehead, murmuring against her skin:
"I love you."
And in the peaceful quiet that followed, with her nestled in his arms, he knew—this was where she truly belonged.
