Chapter 34: A Heartbroken Young Man

Trần Anh Hùng watched as Trần Ngọc Linh sat by the window, gazing outside and sighing from time to time. He found it amusing—so this is what a heartbroken young man looks like? Even though he wanted to laugh, he dared not. Instead, he placed a glass of water on the table and sat down beside Trần Ngọc Linh, gently advising:
"Women are pain. Forget about her. In the future, you'll meet many others who are even more outstanding."
Normally, he addressed the young man as "Young Master," but sometimes, he simply called him "brother" because he truly saw him as one.
Trần Ngọc Linh continued staring blankly outside and muttered:
"I don’t need someone more outstanding. I just need her. And what’s wrong with me? Why does she look at me as if she’s seen a ghost?"
Hearing that, Trần Anh Hùng found it even more amusing. Not a ghost—more like a demon. Witnessing that scene, no normal person could endure it. Hoàng Hải Vân was lucky she hadn’t gone insane. Perhaps because she also had the ability to see spirits, she managed to handle it.
Trần Ngọc Linh still couldn't accept the reality, mumbling in frustration:
"I can’t stand it. She ate and then heartlessly discarded me like this. I’m not a toy!"
Watching this unfold every day, Trần Anh Hùng felt both amused and helpless. This boy wasn’t inherently evil, but growing up with mafia blood in his veins, he had always seen revenge as a natural rule of life. By right, with what the Đinh family had done to his father, and later to him, he should have wiped out their entire gang. Yet, he let them go.
Instead, he manipulated their boss into dissolving the gang, sending all its members back to the countryside to farm. Then, he forced the gang leader to commit suicide.
Having supreme power, killing was easy—forgiveness was the real challenge.
Trần Anh Hùng still couldn't understand why the boy had changed so much. Or perhaps, he hadn’t changed at all. Maybe kindness had always existed within him. Or maybe... he was truly in love. Because of love, he didn’t want to appear brutal and monstrous in her eyes.
Ah, love. Ah, women.
Love truly has the power to heal the world.
He spared the Đinh family. But he did not spare Nguyễn Thế Anh. He locked Nguyễn Thế Anh in a room and tormented him daily, haunting him with spirits every night. To him, betrayal was worse than having enemies.
But well, he could handle anything in the world—except for women. That was his one weakness.
Perhaps, as a good older brother, it was time for him to find a wife for his little brother.

That day was a holiday. Trần Anh Hùng went to Hoàng Hải Vân’s house to ask for a meeting. When her parents saw the once-missing genius scientist appear at their home, they were completely astonished. They immediately asked to take a photo with him. Trần Anh Hùng didn’t hesitate and readily agreed—after all, they would be family in the future, so it was good to build a closer bond.
When Hoàng Hải Vân came downstairs and saw Trần Anh Hùng sitting there, she was just as shocked. She stood frozen like a statue, unsure of how to react. After a moment, she finally managed to approach and greet him.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Trần Anh Hùng got straight to the point:
"He misses you a lot. If possible, please give him a chance."
With that, he placed a phone on the table, its screen filled with eye-catching headlines from major news outlets:
"One of the country’s largest mafia gangs, the Đinh family, suddenly announces dissolution; all members return to farming."
Hoàng Hải Vân picked up the phone and read intently. So he really didn’t massacre the entire gang. She had never tried to interfere with his actions. She wasn’t some naive saint trying to reform him or lead him down a path of kindness. That was why she had chosen to leave him in the first place.
She never expected that he wouldn’t do anything at all.
She had misjudged him.
Suddenly, she felt a pang of regret.
The boy with the clear, innocent eyes she met for the first time had never truly disappeared.
Perhaps… it was time to return.
But how? She couldn’t just say she missed him—that would be far too embarrassing.
That same holiday evening, as she was having dinner with her family, she suddenly felt an overwhelming wave of nausea. The discomfort was so intense that it left her unsettled.
This symptom… could it be?
Panicked, she rushed to the pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test. When she saw the result, there was no doubt left—two lines.
She sat down on the bed in shock, trying to piece together her memories. Clearly, every time they were intimate, she had used protection. She thought and thought, and then it hit her—that night, at the abandoned graveyard, in the pouring rain… they hadn't used anything.
That brat!
She never expected him to be this sharp—one time, and that was all it took.
Or worse… he did it on purpose.
What a little devil.
No, she couldn't call him a brat anymore. Hic hic… she probably had to start calling him Honey now. That evening, she sat in front of the mirror practicing the words, stumbling over them until her tongue twisted.
Then, she suddenly remembered—the USB drive was still in her bag.
She smiled to herself.
There, that was her excuse to return.
