CHAPTER 12
"Oh My God!" Jenn whimpered squeezing my hand. I just laughed at her.
We are now at the entrance of the school gymnasium, and seeing the gym from here is so amazing. Dim lights, well-decorated stage, buffet table and well-dress students. Never did I thought this will turn into this great.
I thought acquaintance party is a bore but this doesn't look like it.
"Ladies and gentlemen, from different courses, 3rd and 4th years, please proceed to your assigned seats" The host announced.
Jenn pulled me towards our seat and settled. We continued listening to our host while Jenn's head can't be settled.
"For graduating students and for our future 4th years, we have a surprised for you. This is our gift for all of you for making it tonight" The host glance at the backstage before smiling at the crowd "Here tonight to serenade all of us, the rising superstar in this generation. Theo Martin"
Right there, Theo appeared from the backstage holding his guitar. On cue, the crowd started going hysteric. Screaming and jumping, they welcome Theo with such energy.
Theo stood up in front of a mic stand, his mouth went to the mic and smiled "Hello!"
With just one hello, the screams heighten and all claps on him. He laughed on the mic "What a crowd we have here, and super great energy"
The crowd 'woo' and then Theo started strumming his guitar. A familiar melody echoed, one of the song he sang during his concert.
Jenn's voice echoed right beside me, she started shaking my arms ruining my off shoulder "Jen!"
She left my shoulder and put both hands on her mouth shocked.
Just like the crowd, my eyes are on him while he started singing with his charismatic yet deep voice.
He was singing when his eyes found mine, and the smile he has on his lips change into a grin. He wrinkled his nose and bow his head down still singing.
I furrowed my brows at his behavior. Weird!
The first song ended with the crowd clapping and yelling.
We ate right after and then started seeing friends from another courses. For me, I only have Jenn as my friend but unlike me, Jenn has hundreds of them. Miss Congeniality.
I was just enjoying my dessert when I saw Theo talking with the staff. Unlike earlier, the smile was gone and he had this straight face while listening to the staff. He nodded his head and followed the staff somewhere.
"Rachel" Jenn appeared "What are you looking at?" She followed my eyes and saw Theo walking away.
"Where is he going?" She asked, I just shrugged my shoulder.
"Oh! It's his mom" Jenn exclaimed. I looked back at where Theo was, he is now talking to a beautiful woman before walking inside a door.
The party continued with me just sitting watching as the people spread their smiles to anyone. I can't even count how many glass of party drink I consumed.
"Rachel, come" Jenn gestured me to go to her, she is currently talking with some of her friends from another course.
I shook my head, she furrowed her brows and broaden her eyes. I still shook my head in disapproval.
She rolled her eyes and gestured me to come again but I pointed somewhere and mouth 'restroom'.
I stood up and glance again to Jenn, she is staring at me deadly. I just pointed the glasses on the table. I already finished 5 glasses of drinks. I need to go to the bathroom!
I was washing my hands when a lady walked in, she's pretty. Our eyes met in the mirror and she smiled, I just gave her an awkward smile.
She checked herself on the mirror when her phone rang "Hello"..."Okay, I'm coming"
She hang up and gave herself a last glance on the mirror before smiling again to me and walking out.
Minutes later after checking myself on the mirror, I walked out of the bathroom.
I was walking when I heard a familiar voice talking. It's Theo's!
I followed it and I ended up on a agape door. I slightly peeked to see him leaning on a wall, both hands in the pocket of his jeans and brows creased.
"Son, Yuna is willing to help and her family" A woman's voice stated.
Theo's head raised and glanced at someone in front of him I can't see.
"I've been telling you mom, I don't care about dad's business. And I am not willing to help you" Theo's voice is full of anger.
"Theodore!" The woman's voice thundered. "You have to! It's just a date son. You just have to attend to the party with Yuna"
Theo's eyes are so deadly it can cut someone.
"Theo" A sweet voice stated.
"I.DON'T.WANT.TO" Theo stated with finality.
"Is this again about that gir---" The woman wasn't abled to continue when Theo suddenly yelled making me jump from my place.
"DON'T YOU DARE MENTION ... her" His voice fading with anger.
"Theo, that was in the past" The woman started explaining but Theo was just looking at her madly.
"Right!" Theo chuckled sarcastically "Look mom, don't make me hate you"
"Theo--"
"I haven't forgotten what you did that time" Theo stood straight and pulled his guitar on the near couch.
Sensing he's about to go out, I immediately run back to where I was but surprised to see Jenn coming. She wasmaybe looking for me seeing the concern on her face.
No! No! If she finds me and Theo sees us, Jenn would prolly bombard me with questions.
So without any choice I started walking in fast pace back to where Theo was. He was walking towards me holding his guitar. I was walking towards him, acting like I don't see him.
I raised my head nervously, ready to ignore him but right when he's about to passed by me. He stopped.
"You" He called. I stopped and looked at him with a fake surprised expression.
"Oh!" I gulped my saliva to clear my voice "Do you want anything?"
"What's your name?" He asked face void with any emotion.
"W-What?" He didn't asked again and was just staring at me "My name? ... R-Rachel" His brows furrowed "Yeah, Rachel is my name. Why?"
He didn't say anything, he just stare at me making me a little conscious.
"Rachel!" Jenn's voice echoed.
I looked at Jenn, she looked at who I am with. Her eyes about to come out from its socket. She ran towards us.
"Theo Martin?" Jenn asked, probably not believing what she's seeing personally.
I glanced at Theo just to meet with his eyes still staring at me, as if reading my soul. My eyes was trying to avoid his.
"Oh My God! I cannot believe this" Jenn exclaimed, hands on her mouth.
Theo left my eyes and looked at Jenn.
"Can I take a picture with you?" Jenn asked.
It took him a moment before he nodded. Jenn immediately pulled her phone out of her purse and went near Theo.
"Thank you! You're so amazing" Jenn gave him a thumbs up.
Theo just smiled at her before walking away. And I was there, still not processing what just happened.
I was supposed to ignore him and not let Jenn see us both. But this happened. And he asked my name? For what purpose?
What I heard just earlier wasn't processed in my head yet and now, I have to answer Jenn's questions.
"Soooo" Jenn gave me a malicious stare "What was that? You're talking with him?"
"No, that wasn't it!" I disagreed.
"Then what is it? You didn't tell me again!" Jenn exclaimed.
I heaved a deep sigh "Jenn let me explain"
"Whatever!" She rolled her eyes "At least I had a picture with him" Jenn started giggling and whimpering.
I just shook my head watching her walking back to the party.
